Software is amazing, I hope this is the future of architecture. Pricing needs work

I love the software, it’s a really satisfying user experience and I wish more apps were like this. The helpful pop up “how to” videos are amazing. It makes me wish I didn’t have to fight Revit for my day job. Hoping that they continue to build things out so that one day, architects and engineers can produce a full set in Shapr3D. A boy can dream.

My only complaint is on the pricing side of things - I wish there was an affordable monthly fee (like $5) for those of us who are just noodling around on the software, getting a feel for it, and want to create a few small test models but are not using this app (yet) to make money. Like something in between the basic and pro pricing categories.

Probably the fastest 3d app there is when its working correctly..

Really this app is quite a bit faster than normal cad modeling and is generally a very good start to move the model over to a full cad program if necessary. I have had a few problems with it however in the short time I’ve used it: notably with rectangle drawing and occasionally with line drawing. Starting a rectangle on a line already drawn was on occasion impossible to the point where I had start it off the line and then move the completed rectangle into place on the line. The line problems I was having was somewhat similar: finishing one line (then inputting the length) and then starting a new line from the endpoint of the previous line and again having a hard time doing so.

2 minor complaints:

1. I never should have allowed the app to send notifications regarding the pen’s connection to tablet - it is always putting up a red notification despite the pen working. I have know idea how to get rid of this annoyance and a search online offered no help.

2. The 1st tutorial did not sufficiently explain that zooming in and out on the workspace changed the scale (like 50mm down to 1mm), instead emphasizing that you can change from inches to mm’s etc.. took me a while to realize that I needed to zoom further in.

Speaking of the tutorial’s - those are quite good, wish there were more of them. (..though yo can do them over and over to become better at using the app.)

Like many others said, Good app, good concept. But terrible on the price

the app itself is amazing. Don’t get me wrong. Its easy to use and I would say it’s the blender of iPad / IOS. However unlike blender sadly this app does cost quite a bit of money if you want to use this as your main sort of modeling app ( You can only export low quality / watered down files, Limit on how many models you can have, etc ). I’m disappointed by that more than anything since 250$ annually I would probably be better off to learn blender ( free ) for the long run though short term this is sort of a working gimmick. I have to work around other limitations like for example it only exports in stl if you don’t have pro so thats also quite annoying. If its like 250$ one time purchase like others said for pro then this would’ve been a 4 or 5 star easily. Though sadly this is sub-par compared to blender ( mostly price ) other than the fact I loved the simplicity to learn and how easy it is to operate ( probably due to I use iPads more than actual computers ).

Too expensive

Probably the best 3d design application for iPad (and now for Mac too!),but… it’s too expensive for an indie designer that is just beginning. I would suggest an intermediate version, maybe with some less features than the current pay version, but that could be usable. Unfortunately, the limitations of the free version makes it useless for real design. In my case, more than 200 $ a year, is too much. I don’t say that it doesn’t worth it, but it’s just not affordable by some people. For instance, exporting in STL format is not useful to move the design to another 3d program, where you can do a realistic render, or just to keep the details of your object. I hope that there will be a cheaper version in a near future…Anyway, it’s a very good app, but I’m sorry that I can’t afford it. :-(

Works, but very buggy.

I have been using this program for a long time now, first, I would say I learned CAD on this program, and though it works good for basic stuff, as soon as a bit of complexity is entered into your design, it gets really buggy. I will try to use a feature and it just won’t work, but won’t say why. But I can not seem to get around it. Now importing my designs into other programs to finish when this program falls short, but it will import most of my design, but leaves out a big chunk of it! So half the export shows up but the other half is missing. So many little annoying bugs like that, that come up without warning. I wish it had some way to indicate to you what the problem was, but that’s up to you to figure out!
So if you are doing simple basic stuff, the program is great. Professional level or complex items, beware, it gets buggy after you have invested hours into your design.

So so good

This app is incredible. The startup tutorial is great and the ui is intuitive. My one complaint echoes others here and that is the subscription. I hate subscriptions in general but understand the appeal for developers. That said, I would be willing to pay for a hobbyist level subscription between $5 and $10 a month because this is just that good. I want to use this for 3D printing for myself and I can’t afford or come anywhere close to justifying the existing subscription rates just for that. Please, developers, if you see this offer a hobbyist level subscription. Even if it just had a limited number of models and the ability to export to high quality STL that would probably be enough.

Needs better pricing for hobby use

I played around with the software and really like the interface and its capabilities. I really like that I can use it on my iPad. However as a retired hobbyist I can’t justify $299 annual fee to use the software. The basic can’t export in high resolution so prints on my 3d printer are not great. It looks like there may have been a hobby version in the past but now it is either basic or pro. Good product but priced out of my budget.

Easy to use, intuitive cad modelling.

Went through the tutorial and was amazed at the ease of designing a 3d model. Much better than other cad type software I have used. Unfortunately, it is way too pricey for someone who is a hobbyist and a retiree, use would be limited (couple of designs a year at best) so I could not possibly justify either the annual or monthly subscription and the export function for the stl/3mf are way to low poly count to be useful for my hobby. Pity - appears to be a good programme.

Great tool, Thank you!

This is a really useful tool. If I needed it beyond a casual hobby, I would subscribe to the full version, but it is sufficient for my needs at the moment, so a sincere thank you from me to you developers, and the hope that this message will invite others to sign up, is what I have to offer. I will definitely sign up once the need for this tool increases, and with 3D printing becoming more and more accessible, it will hopefully be soon. P.S. some feedback; selecting multiple surfaces to modify is a chore, especially when all of the selections get deselected before you can perform the action, and then you need to start all over again. I guess it is not common to have 100+ surfaces to select.

Super elite

I’m cabinet maker new in to CAD drawings. Took me about 30 hours to learn ( mostly from YouTube ) to make a drawing mostly kitchen and I’m not looking back. It’s essential tool for me now same my shop tools.
The guys who runs this software are being very helpful and always making sure that all is good. Excellent customer services
