Money
There should be way more stuff available to you for an app that already costs money in the first place. Get rid of the pro subscription or at least make it so you can have infinite canvases
Misleadingly expensive, overpriced and lacking most features.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS!!!
If you are serious about CAD design and 3D modelling then learn Fusion 360 and save a lot of money in the process.
To begin, I love the intuitive pen and touch implementation of the shap3D software on my iPad. It utilises the pen and touch controls to great effect and it is intuitive and easy to use. But…..that is where this software stops being worth using.
All three platform versions of Shapr3D (iPad,Mac,Windows) are crippled by missing features and tools present in standard 3D design software. Honestly even the paid version of Shapr3D is missing 90% of the tools included for FREE in the free version of fusion 360 are missing in Shapr3D and they charge £499 a year to use Shapr3D!! GET SOME PERSPECTIVE SHAPR3D.
Even the paid version of fusion 360, with even more features is cheaper buy £100 per year. And you can use fusion 360 on your iPad as well via the browser window and your projects are backed up and synced across your devices and platforms automatically….for FREE! Shapr3D doesn’t even offer that feature, you have to manually send the files between devices with all of those drawbacks, it’s like the CAD stoneages.

CAD for visual creation
3 years ago (give or take) I downloaded this app as a result of high school engineering, this was the only CAD I could find that I could use for free on an iPad that was not really childish, then last Friday I updated the app and applied for a student license, within minutes of my application I was granted access to all features of the app, but I do find the app occasionally crashes, this is in part to do with my iPad being old.
I would recommend this app to anyone who is interested in making stuff, and if you are looking for an app that helps pass time and you like creating things then look no further this is the app for you…

Ability to bring the imagination alive
I currently use this program to create 3D scenes and objects for a personal creative project. This program has allowed me to build scenes for still shots and incorporate it with 2D illustration.
It has its moments where it doesn’t want to cooperate to what I want, but being a creative individual like myself, I can make it work. This program allows and gives me the freedom to come from a different perspective to achieve a creative positive result.
Great program for me because it helps me to bring to life from my imagination.

Amazing, but…
So let’s start with the bad, the price is really up there for only being an iPad app. I wouldn’t mind dropping $250 one time, and I have for programs such as rhino 3D but that much per year is a bit much especially when that’s easily the cost of the entire Adobe Creative Cloud and that comes with multiple programs and cloud storage. Even solidworks can be free to small businesses and design firms if they’re making under a certain amount. Full disclaimer btw I have an educational license for the program so I have not paid the full amount but I feel that other users feel the same.
Now for the good. This app hands down is the best app I have ever downloaded onto an iPad since touching the gen 1 iPads. It’s so easy to use and it seems to be very well optimized (I’m using a gen 3 iPad Pro so I’m not sure how other hardware affects this) it took me a matter of a day or two to get the basics and the in app tutorial is so easy to follow. I really want to see more of those in app tutorials, but for an on the go CAD solution this one id definitely hard to beat. I can’t wait to see how this progresses. (I have also seen things saying there’s going to be a windows version of this so I’m kinda excited for that)

Best modelling app
For beginners and beyond it’s the best app. The customer service is amazing too.
One suggestion would be add the 2 finger tap for undo, but that could be just me because I spend hours a day on procreate also.

This is the future of prototyping
Having access to the student version has been a game changer for me in my honours year. Being able to quickly prototype 3D prints on my iPad Pro instead of being bound to a desktop and not missing out on any features just truly feels like the future is here right now. Seriously well thought out UI with hand and pen gestures. My only request would be for an inbuilt gear creator as creating and rotating gear teeth around a circle right now can be quite tedious at times.

Impressive but far too expensive for personal use
As a user of Sketchup Make for many years I’ve been looking for an iPad alternative that’s easy to use and fully functional. Using the iPad would save me having to sketch out drawings with dimensions first and then draw in 3D on my PC. Alternatively I’ll sketch a few isometric drawings in Affinity designer on my iPad. From my initial impressions this app could be a great alternative, the interface is lovely and the tutorials really impressive. However, I then went to create a new drawing and only 2 are allowed in the free version, I can’t even colour them in and output to a JPG! The pricing is completely ridiculous for non professionals, Sketch up was completely free but I’d be happy to pay £10-50 for a useful app like this, just like I did for Affinity apps, but £300, no chance! Please think about home users on limited budgets.

Too Expensive
For the week I’ve used this app, it’s been great. A few issues I have found, one being able to only import 1 file on the free edition. My second complaint as a hobbyist, I’m not going to pay $350 full year AUD/$44 per month AUD to use this app. It’s just too over priced, only difference better the standard and business is the technical drawings!! I’m sure there are plenty that would use this app more if the monthly fee was $15/20AUD per month or $200AUD full year.
Sadly I give 2 stars on price and importing abilities on the free version. Great app just poorly priced.

Great but…
This application fundamentally is making it so much easier to use CAD and I do see constant development, however for certain applications at the time of this review are not available that I wish were. Such as linking parts together with joints so I can see how moving parts work with each other. Like moving gears, car suspension, etc. For my work at least if it were possible in the future to add some kind of fluid dynamics software or even create a separate app to prevent crashes that would be awesome. Also would be great to allow sketches to be made in a 3 dimensional plane and extrusion to be able to be manipulated by multiple points to create specific curves.
The App is fantastic and easy and is still in the process of being made better and I love that. Please don’t stop and keep moving forward with development.
