Good app but could be better.

Such an easy calendar to use however definitely could do with some improvements for a more seamless use. Great minimal design and colour choices for personalised view. Love that I can add other third party account calendars as well.
1. Monthly view - would love to be able to see all events for the month (as many other apps do) without having to click on each day separately. Surprised this hasn’t been done already really
2. Widgets - could definitely do more with the widgets for Home Screen
3. Public holidays - would be great to be able to delete/hide holidays which don’t apply to the state I live in as there are a lot for the nation as a whole

It does the job

It does the job and ticks all of my requirements and yet I feel I want more. The views, interface, and functionality hasn’t changed in a long time. I want to be excited by new calendar features.

Easy to use

I always use the calendar, but did you know there is a bug with the notifications? If you put a second notification in, it transfers to the first notification. This has been happening for ages now. Needs fixing.

Frustrating it still has realised its potential

Day view ✅
Agenda View ✅

Week view ❌❌❌

Whoever is responsible for the calendar app at apple, please finally pull your finger out and allow this app the be great.
The landscape week view is crap. Allow that style in portrait (as per the iPad or many third party apps) and you have eared your spot in the apple hall of fame. Maybe you need to find a way to do week view the “Apple way”. Well I have good news… you already did and it’s on the iPad. Now please go steal it from there, make it fit the iPhone screen and claim your reward in the form of respect.
And while your stealing the week view from the iPad. Steal the bloody month view too. As once again, iPhone calendar month view is crappy as well.

iPhone calendar doesn’t get everything wrong. Day view, agenda view and even the event creation process are all decent. Event creation could get a bit more intelligent and incorporate language parson like the reminders app does (another hint on where to steal it from Apple, yes it’s your own internal departments again).

If all of the above points were met, they iPhone would probably have the perfect calendar app. Well as far as just calendars go. Incorporate a view of your reminders from the reminders app and then it would be 👌🏻

Horrible app

There are so many issues with this calendar. Just a few, when you tap on a date then proceed to add the time and event IT NEVER STAYS ON THE DATE YOU SELECTED every time it picks another. I can tap Jan 10th and then after I am finished it will be jan20th. Now I know that it does this I always check before saving. 8/10 times it will have a different date then the one I selected. Second the alarms go off half of the time. I’ll add two reminders for something and nothing . I’ll completely miss it , the banner doesn’t even pop up half the time. What’s the point of using this calendar if it doesn’t alert you when you have an appointment. I finally had it this week after two things I scheduled never went off which cost me money as they were paid appointments ! I downloaded Google calendar hopefully it works better then this.

Haven’t really come across any problems

This calendar is pretty good! I’m sure there are better ones out there, and I would certainly appreciate for this one to be updated, but all in all, I would probably recommend this app. Just don’t depend on it to give you a good place to watch the date change on the New Year. I tried doing it here with my friend for 2023, and it was very underwhelming, seeing as the date doesn’t change right at 12:00 a.m.. other than that, it’s a good calendar!

Reminder glitch

For the last couple of weeks a reminder keeps popping up in my notifications and automatically duplicating itself throughout the year and plaguing each date’s reminder column with itself. Every time I try to even open the app or delete the reminder, it glitches out and freezes. It won’t even let me navigate the Calendar app without freezing because of the fact that it keeps duplicating itself at such a high rate, causing the app to crash. I contacted Apple support about this and literally no one knew how to solve the problem. Instead, they wasted my time for about an hour and then sent me off to a new agent without warning, making me start the process all over to explain to someone else. Although I’ve been using this app ever since I received my first iPhone, these glitches are getting out of hand and I might just have to use Google for things like reminders and other resources instead.

Beyond annoying.

When entering weekly events into the calendar it for some odd reason makes them daily and on certain days it is entered twice. Super frustrating, I’ve double/triple checked it’s on weekly and not daily, so I know it’s not that. I’ve also followed all the steps to refresh the calendar and deleted and redownloaded it… My system does not need updating. At this point I’m thinking it may be better to use a third party calendar that will frustrate me less and won’t make my events/appointments all confusing.

It would be better if….

All the separate calendars have a color to identify it. But when you’re looking at the page that shows the entire month, there’s only a dot (.) to indicate there is an entry for that date - that’s it. That entry could be from Apple (President’s Day) or from one or more of the users calendars - there’s no way to tell by glancing at that full month page if there’s something that needs to be looked at or if it’s something mostly irrelevant. It would be cool if that dot turned to the same color of the calendar or turn into a multi-colored triangle if there are multiple calendar entries for that date. It would make glancing at that entire month page easier to determine if you should pay attention to a specific date or if it’s just a generic entry like ‘Boxing Day’. Just a thought.

No invitations

I have been using iPhones, iPads, and iMacs for nearly 12 years. I was beyond frustrated a couple years ago when Apple Maos started screwing around with the pronunciation of street names. When New Brunswick Avenue came out as “new beer-plus-unswick Avenue”, I kinda freaked. Eventually, it got fixed. Now, without an update, my previously perfect Calendar app refuses to show anything except the blank white screen telling me I have no invitations. I can’t begin to tell you how much hurt I feel upon hearing that. Can you please put Calendar back in working condition? I don’t normally carry iPad out of the house, and refuse to do so just to have a working Calendar.
