I am very paperless organised.
I love using calendar I can see at a glance where I’m supposed to be each day. I also love the fact I can set an alert which pops up and reminds me of up and coming appointments and meetings up to a week in advance. Paper diary’s can’t do this! There’s also less chance of double booking work. I can also make notes.
The other really useful aspect of using calendar is I have all my sons work hours and my own repetition work hours in my calendar. This is especially useful because we have dogs and we don’t want to leave them alone for more than 4 hours.

Syncs well
I have used electronic calendars from the first Palm in 1990s; I give this 4/5 for the UI, but it syncs with other calendars so reliably it’s worth 5/5!
Older you get, gets more helpful
I schedule everything on it…..daily, weekly, monthly and long term. I find it especially helpful with monthly and long term events/tasks like…. Cleaning air filters once a month, checking oil tank level, emptying house vac, testing fire alarms, and the list goes on and on with tasks that need to be done but that you just don’t think about. OR when you do think about it, you can’t do it because you are rushing out or can’t remember when you last did it. Of course annual reminders for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. are obviously important but so are reminders to have your furnace cleaned, winterize your irrigation system, etc. All the things that need to be done but often you don’t think about it until it’s an issue. It also helps to let you know when you last did a task assuming you followed through on it. Trust me…. The busier you get the more it helps and the older you get, the more it helps!
One of the best features for me is the two alerts that are allowed with each entry! A week, 2days, 2hours, they are all useful depending on the event/task.

Poor ability to edit notes already written in Calendar
I use calendar for many many things - it’s my “go to” for reminding myself what’s on, what to pick up at the supermarket and where to go and where to meet people at my next outing and appointments. Considering the latter, I will often have to go back to the notes I have made and edit them. Herein lies the problem.
After clicking on the edit button I can only see one line on the notes I have made. Why? Often I can’t find the right area in which to edit my notes so I need to rewrite it because of this “one line” only being visible. This is a huge problem that has needed to be fixed for a long time.
I also need to be very careful of the “x” at the end of the line, especially if I’m writing notes for the first time. Accidentally clicking on the x is so frustrating because I lose valuable time having to rewrite important information.
In order to fix this problem please make the “whole” of the notes available when I click on the “edit” button so that I can edit in the appropriate area. It is so important to me and at present it is so difficult to use, hence the “two stars” rating I have given. At present, it doesn’t even deserve two stars.
Thanks for the opportunity to be able to let you know the huge problems I have with Calendar. I hope it can be fixed very soon.

ICalendar
I love iCalendar more than any other resource. It keeps my husband & I on the same page as we share our calendars, thanks to Apple Technical Support’s assistance when setting up our shared calendars. It makes recurring events a cinch - just add the information and when you want it to recur and for how long. You can then modify any or all of the recurrences. All subsequent appointments are easy to add because the locations autofill. I just click on the address on the day of my appointments if I need directions. It will even alert me to the time I need to leave if I set it up to do so. I even put recurring chores on my ICal, such as for changing my air handler filter and my electric toothbrush head every 90 days, weekly chores, etc., etc., etc. There’s no end to it’s usefulness and convenience.

Reminder
I love my calendar I can set it on Reminders and I never forget anything can’t live without it
Great, but…
It’s a great app, I use it all the time like everyone else, but it needs some improvements. Here is what I would like:
1- Default alarm for appointments shouldn’t be ‘at the time of the appointment’. What use is that?
2- I want to be able to send some items into my work Outlook calendar. Say I have a doctors appointment. I put it in my phone, but I then have to put it into my Outlook manually. People need to know if I’m available so I have to block out the time in the Microsoft apps- so Outlook’s calendar and MS Teams. Once inside Outloook I think it propagates to Teams anyway. Sadly I can’t use iCal for work as work runs on Microsoft.
3- Maybe better clarity for each type of calendar. A tiny blue or green dot is no hood as I forget what they are for and can hardly see them anyway. Turn the whole calendar a light shade of blue or green and I know where I am much more easily.
I could go on, but that’s enough for now 😀

Stable and reliable, but needs more dynamic viewing options
Like most Apple products this app works well and is reliable. However, if you would like to look at your day, while also knowing what is coming up in your week/month or move appointments across dates, it is somewhat limited and makes you switch views. For example, if i want to reschedule a meeting that is today till next Tuesday, I would like to know what is on my cal on Tuesday and what my openings are around that day while rescheduling. If I had a small week forward preview in my day view that would help, and month forward in my week view etc. Drag and drop of meeting across weeks/months could work better too in effectuating this.
Further, as a way of being a great time management tool it also would be nice if the app integrated with the Task app/list better, as most tasks are just unscheduled calendar items anyway. The two should work and viewable together.
