Works as described but could be better
Mostly everything has worked for me with my S5 since April 2023. The Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch integration are nice touches.
What doesn’t work:
1. Apple Find My is so unreliable (can show past location of bike and say you left it behind while you are riding). Find My sound also doesn’t work.
2. Unlock worked flawlessly until something changed with last firmware update (6/23). Now sometimes the bike won’t unlock and takes some minutes to keep trying.
Feature Request:
1. Show the assist level permanently in the display while riding instead of only when changing it.
2. Integrate with Apple Maps or Google Maps for native navigation in the app. Using the nav apps independently loses display of battery level, speed, etc. so not as good.
3. Integration with Apple workouts and Apple Health.

No support
Worst customer experience ever. I got error 44, I need a new e shifter - the chat not (only customer service available) doesn’t understand my request. Live chat is supposed to be available until 630 EST - even though it’s much earlier, I still can’t get live customer support, the bot tells me it’s closed. I have a very expensive non-functional bike that repeatedly fails.

Cannot use with Apple Watch without iPhone
This app is stupid that it cannot function when your Apple Watch did not connected to iPhone. So you cannot use touch unlock when you wear Watch only even it’s a cellular enabled which did make any sense.
Brick
Loved the bike until it completely stopped working. That was almost 3 months ago. Still waiting on a box to get the bike repaired. Support is less than helpful. How is it taking months to ship a box? How long will the actual repair take? Ridiculous.
The best bike ever made
It’s been made easy to move around with.
Unable to change assist settings
Since the last firmware update a month or two ago, we have been unable to change the assist settings using the boost button, unless we go to the app and manually switch the setting on every single time I use the bike.
This setting isn’t always on anymore, you have to every time you use the bike manually turn the assist on, it also doesn’t remember what gear you were in previously. Very annoying, please revert this!

2-Step Unlock
Hello Vanmoof Team,
The Kick-lock is one of the key feature of the bike and I love it for giving me this confidence leaving mine outside. However and unfortunately, I still have to use a regular lock as well for a “secured” look most of the time and I believe many people do the same. This way a little problem arises when you come back to continue voofing around - it is sketchy to not bother the alarm (You could seen a meme with Tom Cruise from r/Vanmoof haha).
Today my head visited a thought what if I have Touch Unlock on, it would be really helpful to turn off the alarm as the bike detects my phone, keeping the Kick-lock until a rider presses a button. Needless to say, if button wasn’t pressed, turn on the alarm again.
I know it’s possible to unlock the Kick-lock first by lifting the rear wheel but in my opinion it is very unnatural. Also I know there can be a case I couldn’t see, but I still hope you find this useful.

Disappointed
I’ve had my Vanmoof bike for a week now, and I’m really surprised how poor the supporting app is. It crashes my iPhone regularly, to the extent of needing a full phone restart. The first time it happened, I didn’t actually know how to restart my phone (no other app has ever crashed it!) — and I was left unable to change the settings for a hilly ride home, or even turn on the bike lights.
The app itself has some annoying quirks. The feature I use most is the ability to change the motor strength while riding. For some reason this defaults to OFF, resets to OFF every single time I unlock the bike, and is hidden 3 levels deep in the menu system. On the bike itself, changing the motor strength is a very slow process. I have no idea why any of that is the case.
I’m also disappointed by the lack of customisation options. Despite all its features, the bike has only 2 buttons. One of them is reserved for the bell. Why?! I barely ever use it. I’d much rather be able to change gears manually, or change the assistance level, or switch to different gear ratios. Why can’t I customise what I want the buttons to do?

Add Denver!
Just got my S3 today!!!! Amazing ride! App is amazing. Wish Apple Watch app had more functionality but I shouldn’t be complaining. Please add more support for Colorado USA!!!!
Updated app worse than before
Newest app is buggy and makes unlocking my bike harder than it was before update. Disappointing.
