Great bike but app is disappointing

Took me about 2 weeks to get accustomed to the app for the bike. Still disappointed in the functionality, but I ignore it because the ride is super smooth. The app simply doesn’t work like advertised. Features are wonky and not intuitive. But the bike looks good and rides great if you can get it to move/unlock and stop beeping.

Good but could be better

The bike itself is amazing - I love it! The app itself has some good features (the locking, the lights, the locator) but also some obvious lacks. Tracking of the data from a ride is one - how far have I gone, how much of my battery did I use so far? And being able to use that data as a source for the Apple Health app, so you can see how many calories you’ve burned (not easy to calculate otherwise on an ebike, where some of the effort has come from the battery) also seems like a key missing ingredient.

The best investment I have ever made.

I have no words to describe how happy I’m to have my new X2 Vanmoof electrified bike. I had to wait 4 months to be able to join this piece of amazing machine but I can tell something, it does worth every single day I had to wait for it. So far it was the best money I have ever expended in my whole life. Thank you so much Vanmoof. You made my days!

Vanmoof S2

This bike is pretty awesome. I’ve only put about 39 miles on it but it was pretty effortless. I’m planning on parking my car and commuting 10 miles to work 5 days a week. The only complaint that I have is that Houston Texas roads and sidewalks are terrible or nonexistent. On the trail is where this thing shines. It attracts a lot of attention. As I was saying. On the trail. This beauty just cruises. I can go 20mph with minimal effort. So if you are a seasoned cyclist. You will love to get this thing up to 30mph. You will want to invest in some googles/glasses. Bugs hurts when they go splat in your eye. 😔

I will update this review after I have had it for a longer period. So if you’re wondering if you should buy it. The answer is yes! You will love it!

Works great!

I’ve had no issues with my electrified S2 or the app. I did have to turn the proximity down all the way because I could hear the bike wake up in the garage when I was walking around the house. Works great with the Apple Watch as well.

Does the job, lacks features

First off, I love my Smart X bicycle. It's a thrill to ride and is compact enough for me to haul on the train/ferry if need be. The accompanying app, however, isn't on par with the riding experience.

The app has a beautiful design, but I would appreciate a few more insights into my riding behavior. How many trips have I made? What is my average trip length? After how many kilometers should I consider getting a tune-up? Who else is riding Van Moof and how can I connect with them? These are just a few examples of what I believe would enhance the experience. Hoping for such features to be available in future updates.

Functional but not quite!

A map with no labels is pointless, design over user experience. Other than that, it does what it needs to do and the UI is nice.

Five stars if map was a map, seeing as it’s just linked to Google maps would it be so hard to have some labels on the streets and some pinch and zoom? 😀🚲⚡️

New owner

Staff in Brooklyn were extremely personable & knew the tech dead to rights. Not only that, we’re able to explain it very simply. Awesome team.

Terrible app, don’t buy the bike

App hardly works- customer support is also incognito. The app always logs you out so you’re never able to access unlock the bike. I’ve emailed customer support many times but they do not respond.

Don’t buy a VanMoof.

Horrible connectivity

Just received my S2 and the experience of using the app has been horrible. The app has been extremely buggy and nearly unusable. Almost 90% of the time after opening the app, the screen just keeps flashing and rending me unable to unlock my bike or update any of the settings from the app. The app consistently flashes a notification stating I'm disconnected to connected. It seems like this draining the bikes battery as well since it continually trying to connect. The bike is losing nearly 30-40% of battery during the week despite not being ridden at all! Please update the bike/app experience because based off the experience now I cannot recommend this bike to anyone.
