Best Public Radio Ever!

KUT’s ability to combine public radio with local events and interests is brilliant. My perspective comes from living in many different cities and towns. A straight diet of Public Radio will always appeal to me; however, the local spice added by KUT transforms my radio listening into a smorgasbord. Thank you, KUT. You are wonderful.

Slow and flaky

App loads slowly and usually won’t start the live stream on the first try - need to quit the app and reload. Also about once or twice per hour will replay about 30 seconds of content. Now also is a huge battery drain - 18% of my battery use after less than an hour. I think I’ll just use the NPR app.

Reliable

I switched from I <3 Radio to this app because the former kept skipping. I’m no longer missing out!

Horrible app

The app takes forever to come up once you open it, it crashes multiple times while using, half the time the volume doesn’t work at all. For a business that relies on public funding I would think twice giving you my dollars if this is the kind of crap you spend it on.

Bug, but I still use it every day

While streaming, it will often back up about 20 seconds and replay what’s already been broadcast.

Always reliable

I use it to listen to news in the morning when I am getting ready. - and to listen to the Saturday morning shows when I am not near a radio. Works 100% of the time for me!!

Slow and glitchy

The old app only played KUT and had a schedule. It worked pretty well.

This updated version adds news, podcasts, and other information, which is a great idea. But it still has bugs and is slow. The podcasts don’t always load and the radio function is slow as well. I have had this update for a few days and I’m not impressed.

Good idea but it needs work.

September 2019 update:
I think it’s gotten worse. The app stops playing, repeats what was already broadcast on the live stream, and is not reliable.

Great way to access KUT

So many advertisements!!! I don’t listen very much because of this. That said the latest iteration of this app works well and has great features. Much better than most radio station applications.

Works well

I love KUT and this app has made it easy for me to listen in the morning while I have my coffee. I don’t own a radio outside of my car, so this app is great to stream to my Bluetooth speaker.

Is this really “public radio”?

I understand that public radio needs supporters, donors, and underwriters.
But KUT devotes noticeably more time to verbally expressing their gratitude to their business supporters than any other “public radio” station than any other, in my experience.
So why is it, that this app has to stop in the middle of “Stardate”, to express gratitude to the same business supporter, to whom it expressed gratitude when it opened less than an hour previous?
It’s totally unnecessary and makes an otherwise 5-Star app a 3.
