Awful - Never Tested in Real Life
Firstly, the app assumes you are on a lightning fast network. Anyone who has been at a real conference centre will know that both WiFi and 4/5G networks are typically slow and overloaded. Having an app that checks in EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SWITCH TO IT OR UNLOCK YOUR SCREEN is an absolute disaster. Not only that every 2nd time there will be an update. I appreciate this may be done by the event and not the fault of the app, but having the pop up ask every time is awful.
The worst thing is though it’s just slow. We have been required to use it as a lead scanner for people visiting our stand. It takes forever and is embarrassing when somebody is stood there holding their badge out and they have to wait while the app checks in, then pops up that there’s an update, that I have to say no to, then when I click ‘lead scanner’ I have to wait while it, again, goes off to the cloud to provide my lead list, then eventually gives me the camera to scan.
Some kind of offline ability needs to be provided as the experience for exhibitors and attendees is embarrassing. If you are an exhibition considering this tool, please don’t. Your exhibitors will hate you, it’s a thoroughly unpleasant experience and there are many better alternatives.
