Reviews of Honeydue

  • Good for observing but that’s it

I wish there were some kind of goals setting capabilities. I really love the interface and ability for us to see all our money together, but I can’t see all of our budget together, like the total caps. You have to go in individually which makes me still have to manually make a budget separately and then go in on the app and change the individual caps. You also can’t set it per person which would also be nice since this is couple focused.

I also wish there was a way to set savings goals as well, obviously you can still save but we might end up switching to another app eventually due to this.

Overall, it’s a very good tracking app but that is all. I would pay for additional features tbh and this could continue to be free.
  • Disappointing Experience

The good overall ratings led us to Honeydue when Mint notified us that they were ending their platform. So far though this is not meeting our needs. Honeydue does not partner with a wide range of banks. I was able to connect our credit cards, but not our savings, checking, retirement, or investment accounts. It is helpful at least to see the bulk of our everyday spending in one place, but even then the app does not update balances frequently. For several days I’ve found myself having to manually refresh each account individually. Which, to be honest, I can do just as efficiently with our card account’s apps and a pen and paper. The pen and paper method is starting to look more appealing, as at least then we would not be sharing our financial date with two separate companies - Honeydue retrieves our financial data by acting through its intermediary, Plaid.

We’re going to give it another week to see if things improve.
  • Was an amazing app, not so much anymore

This is (rather, was) the best couples finance app available. It used to work great and it had simple features to track bank accounts together and even bills. I don’t think the budgeting system on any app works, best to do it yourself. But at any rate, I can no longer connect bank accounts. So the app is kind of pointless. The only other app that worked well for my wife and I was Monarch, but even tho that has a relatively expensive subscription fee, Honeydue did it better. But now I try and contact customer support via email and chat on their website, and it’s like no one is there. For awhile they didn’t update the app at all and I had given up on it. But it seems they are updating it again, however there really isn’t much getting fixed. I would love if they would fix the app and even if they charged just a little bit a month to keep it running that would be worth it to me.
