  • Wow, 5 minutes already regretting this

The exercise list is just sloppy, cable exercises non-existent, machine exercises likewise, assisted? Dumbbells or barbell? Forget it

The devil is in the details, and if you want subscribers then do the work and expand the list or at least provide the longer list and let users select the ones they need; why is it our job to create Chest Fly (cable), Cable Crossover, no exercises related to Smith machines.

Triceps extension? That’s it? No Triceps cable ext? Overhead two-hand? Pullovers? Skullcrushers?

I workout in four different gyms all with different equipment options, I need flexibility in my exercises and tracking. I need to change from kg to lbs because the machine is in pounds. I need to use a Smith because they don’t have a standard squat rack. I need to change to dumbbells or cable because there isn’t a bar. You can’t do any of that on the fly in this app.

Cmon the logging piece is nice, there are some good things, but I’m going back to Strong. Enjoy the $10 donation.

  • Love it but have an update idea!

I am a professional volleyball player and I use this app a lot to creat workouts or input a workout my strength coach gave me! This app can do so much and it almost has everything I want in a program log and tracking app!
One thing I find myself wishing this app could do is doing my intensity percentage for me! The programs I do are all based off of my 1RM and I find myself having to go to my calculator to find 75% of 1RM! I wish I had a customizable section where I can add exercises and their respective 1RM max and be able to edit it whenever I need! Then when I add intensity percentage to my exercise it automatically calculates what weight I need!
Other than that, I love this app and how I can create folders of my different programs and add my own exercises and basically customize the app to what I need!

  • Good app with GUI you have to get used to

Free trial limits how many times you can enter an exercise and I was able to "waste" all of them just fumbling around in one day due to complex GUI. Developer should seriously consider something like a week long trial.
Anyway, paid version is great, delivers all the features I need. Once you get use to it, it is very intuitive.
Support is also great, got all my question answered in timely fashion.

  • Great tool but a little confusing

    Update-
Found my issue on import was in the format. Missing a space between the routine name and the ##symbol. Docs would have helped.

Used for the first time today. Only one major issue is how touchy the buttons are ( a lot of unintended taps) and how little feedback is provided. When I logged a set, the timer doesn’t auto-start and the weight field is still showing it is editing but the set increments. If you aren’t paying attention you’ll hit log again, and again, thinking it didn’t register. You then notice you’re on set 3. Easy to edit and fix but could be avoided with a little UX work. UX aside, this is one impressive app, very well done.

    —————————- old review ———-

I just found this app and it seemed to have everything I was looking for. While testing the import from pasteboard function it just stopped importing. When I copy something to the pasteboard, go back into Heavyset, instead of showing me the options it just says Heavyset Pasted from notes and then nothing. No routine or anything. I went to the developer website and there isn’t a support option. I paid for the full version. Does the developer still work on this app?

  • Great app with a few issues

I love this app, but there are a few things I wish would get fixed or added: the auto timer function is very inconsistent, most of the time when logging a set the timer does not start. Second, I wish when I added exercises to a saved workout, it would give me the option to add it permanently. Finally, PLEASE add an Apple Watch app! It would be so much easier to update on my watch during a workout!

  • Best app for lifting & I’ve tried them all

I am so grateful that I found HeavySet! I’ve tried just about every app out there for tracking lifting and this was the only one that had the feature set that I was looking for. I love the flexibility for workouts—when I’m doing a saved workout I can change just that session or save changes for future sessions. Different graphs/analytics for progress tracking, and calendar view. Import/Export and notifications when you hit a new pr. I only wish it had sharing/guest access to share with my trainer

  • Best Workout App on the App Store

This is by far the best workout app I’ve ever used. The level of customization makes it worth the buy but recently when switching to a different app during workouts, it will close the entire workout out and I’ll have to go through my history to pick back up where I was before. It’s very frustrating but other than that, still a very good workout app.

  • The best workout logger

All of the features you need but none of the bs that you get with the other workout trackers out there. No subscriptions, just $9.99 and you are set for life. If you have no idea about what you are doing and you need pre-designed plans then you probably want to look elsewhere but this is by far the best app out there if you are past the learning phase.

  • Does what it needs to do, no frilly BS

Does what it needs to do. No silly videos of fitness models or imposing weird routines on you. Keeps track of sets and reps. I’d like to give it 3.5 stars because as it is the UI is pretty clunky and unintuitive. It also doesn’t keep track of static/isometric stuff like wall sits or planks. Still getting to know it so I’m sure as I mess with it it will feel more comfortable to use but so far it’s been a bit tricky!

  • Simple, just what I’ve been looking for

If you know what you’re doing and want to efficiently capture your lifts, this is an excellent program. It seems like a simple app but getting the interface just right is tough as can be seen from the large number of training apps available. I’ve used several and find HeavySet really feels easier than my old beat up notebooks.

After a few months use I’m still finding new subtle things that help me gauge my progress and help stay on track for volume and intensity gains. No they haven’t paid me to say this, but Apple should consider this for a design award.
