Pro option is cool but hard to use

Love these lights and love that the app can manage everything. I was also excited to try the “Pro” option that allows a few different periods of varying light intensity.

My issue is that the timeline slider in the “Pro” option is difficult to use to set precise times. It takes several tries to get the time set to exactly, then when I lift my finger the time switches. It’s just irritating.

The “Auto” option has time selector menus that are a bit easier to use. Wish this was available in the “Pro”

Light awesome, App bad!!

The lights great but you can’t adjust the timers on the presets accurately because of how small they are. Would be good if there was a way to manually type in the time fore each of the timers but you’re stuck with this tiny sliders that jump all over the place. I see other people have left similar reviews to mine so youse really need to fix this because it’s not letting your light reach its full potential.

Great light but terrible app

The app will not allow me to download the preset settings. I can select them but the only option is to cancel and no option to export to the light. It allows you to change the auto and pro settings for good it seems. So if you mess with it you have no idea what it was to begin with. Overall this is a terrible app that is not intuitive at all. I just want to go back to the factory settings for planter tank pro but can find no way to achieve that from the app. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and unplugging the light. Apparently once you adjust the air or pro settings they are changed forever. Terrible design. It should allow you to start with a preset, make your changes, and force you to save the changes version as a new name while maintaining the integrity of the original presets. Super frustrating! I am thinking of returning the light because of the app.

Don't buy a Fluval light

I've purchased several fluval filters and had great success, especially for the price, so when I needed a new light for my aquarium I bought one of theirs. I have never regretted a purchase more, $100 down the drain. The app doesn't work, the neither the in app faq or troubleshooting worked for me, I've tried everything, and never got a response when I emailed. There isn't even a base white light on the model I bought (aquasky) so now I'm stuck with a useless piece of metal and plastic. Save your wallet and buy a regular light.

New features in latest updates make a stellar app

Update: crashes on ios 16

I was very excited today to see that there was a firmware update for the lights and a new feature called “pro” that allows for full control with manual time points for fine tuning transitions and keeping the light off at night after a period of blue intensity. Having a lot of fun setting this up exactly to my expectations. Thank you to the developers who’ve stuck with the app for these new features!

Works fine

Everything works as it should, the app finds the light(s) and controls them. It could be more intuitive, it could teach you how to use the app. But as it is, it’s functional. Seems like the app catches more guff than it should because it doesn’t hold your hand in the beginning, I just needed to mess with it a few times to get it figured out.

Great function, horrible form

I literally have never written an app review until this one because it’s so needed…. A few things.

1. You’re only getting 2 stars (instead of one) because I love my aquarium
2. How can you make lights that *require* the user to use a smartphone app (aka there’s not even a power switch), and have an app that looks like it was designed for the iPhone 3???
3. The app looks like it’s designed for the iPhone 3. It’s not that nice to look at, which you would think is kinda like an aquarium company’s *WHOLE thing*
4. The whole “export” function is so weird and confusing…. Just call it “run” or even “presets” would be better…. Export? Really…? That sounds like I’m about to email that light cycle graph to my mom…
5. Make a color wheel/chart from which to choose presets
6. Make the app look like it wasn’t designed for the iPhone 3…. I don’t think I need to elaborate. If you don’t look at the app and immediately see what I mean, then you need to hire new app developers…

The root of it comes down to…. When I bought a $500 aquarium with a BLUETOOTH light….. I assumed it was going to be top of the line. But instead I was marketed a “high-tech, feature-rich” product (which by the way FORCES me to use my phone to turn on the lights)…. And I received an app that looks like it belongs on the 2006 App Store.

Terrible reliability

Love the ease of controlling the light from my phone. That is, when it works. I’ve spent more time deleting then re-installing the app than I have enjoyed watching my fish!! There’s no way to bi-pass it- so, I’m stuck with it and that’s unfortunate for me, but, not so, for the company. They made their money and obviously, they have never read the reviews or simply don’t care. Otherwise, they would be working on a way to improve the existing one. Based on the star system of rating their product, a 2 star review is acceptable. The actual product, the light, is amazing. The different colors, the ability to program your own sequencing of a light show even including a lightening storm is truly amazing. If not for the on and off app, it would be a 5 plus star rating. STRIVE for that, PLEASE.

Good for multiple lights on an iPad but unworkable on a phone

This app is easy to use and intuitive but only on the larger screen of my iPad. I have got multiple lights and it's easy to adjust and tweak lighting regimes on them all. On the smaller screen of a phone, the sliders in Pro mode (10 edit points) are too close together to edit. If you could use it in landscape instead of portrait only orientation, it might improve editability on a phone. The only usable option for phone users is to use the four edit points in Auto mode which will enable you to turn lights on and off with a ramp up and down. More complicated lighting regimes aren't possible on a phone.

Needs alittle bit more, but overall awesome.

Alittle finicky but once setup it's easy peasy. Been around aquariums a long time and people have no idea how far these lights have come. I appreciate where it's at, could use alittle fine tuning. I like it.
