  • The Times we are in.

I have been reloading for 15yrs now and Hornady is by far the most accurate in bullet design and consistency. I wish I had a crystal ball 3 years ago and stocked up , either I can not find what I need or the price is so outrageous I can not afford it. If you are thinking about starting up reloading I highly recommend Hornady, they have the credibility and experience in this market. Hope this helped!

  • Won’t open

Just downloaded this app and it’s not opening. App screen comes for about 10 secs then closes out and it takes me back to my phones home screen. Deleted the app and re-downloaded and same thing happens. Not leaving a bad review just trying to see what the issue is.
  • Constant crashing

I was so excited to start using this app not that I’m getting into PRS and invested a great deal in gear and ammo. I selected the ammo and app because it’s what’s used by our instructors. I’ve gone through the setup and ensured everything was dead on only to have the app crash over and over, I can change wind, pressure temp, everything, but it will not move the cone up from 0.0 not matter the data entered and saved, or I’ll be 80% done entering the data and it will just close the app, at this point I wish I didn’t spend so much money on the ammo because the calculator is garbage, for me at least, I’ve sent an email into their support team and will update if they even reply.

  • Group analysis tool is inaccurate

The group analysis tool needs more work to be truly useful. First, when saving a group analysis, the caliber (.308 or 6.5mm etc.) does not persist. Only the bullet diameter of the last analysis is displayed. Second, why can the user not edit/delete a group analysis? Third, the analysis tool should determine the exact center of an impact using image processing by fitting a circle to image data. The user should only have to point approximately to the center of impact. Currently, when repeating an analysis, I get deviations as large as 0.06 MOA.

  • Makes it easier

The Hornady app is a godsend. I’ve never used any ballistic apps or Kestrels or anything of the sorts. I took a long range shooting class, new gun, new scope had no idea what the heck I was doing. They required downloading the Hornady app and using the Kestrel 5700 with 4DOF. After getting all the numbers dialed in about an hour later, I rang still at 1,000 yards 3 times in a row. Never could have done it without the Hornady app!!

  • Just One Recommendation

I love this app. Definitely my favorite out of all the ones I’ve tried. Functionality and user friendliness is nearly perfect. However, there’s one thing I wish they would add. Many people using this for longe range/ELR obtain distance via a GPS app or something with a built in distance measurer such as the ballistic ARC app. But the distances that these apps show you is the true horizontal distance. So if you are shooting up a steep incline or down at an angle, you’ll need to calculate the line of sight distance before you put it into the hornady app in order to get an accurate result. This means I need to use 3 different apps get calculate the distance. I use the ballistic ARC app to first find the true horizontal distance, then I use the Hornady app to get an accurate shooting angle, then I use a right triangle calculator app to input the shooting angle, along with the base equal to the horizontal distance I obtained from the ballistic ARC app. Then the triangle app spits out the true line of sight distance (the hypotenuse), which I can finally put into the Hornady app. - - - - My recommendation would be to add a simple toggle to switch between entering the true horizontal distance or line of sight distance. That would make the process much simpler for the user. Even better if you added a separate tab like the ballisticARC app where you can use the map/gps to find horizontal distance.

  • Calculators

We are very great full to Hornady for making these ballistic calculators available to the public. I keep my calcs on my phone for ready reference for any given hunting situation. Experimentation at the various ranges have validated their results time and again. Thanks Hornady
  • Unusable

This app has an extremely limited selection of bullets in its database, making the DOF format of limited use. Setting up a favorite by snapping a photo of it seemed strange, and after I did, the app would let me go no further with inputting info. If you watch the tutorial you will be shocked to discover you need to shoot several targets and input the results to get accurate scope settings. This begs the question, if you must shoot paper targets, why bother with the app at all? This cumbersome, labyrinthine app is an epic fail!

  • Incredibly useful!

I’m really enjoying the ballistics calculator. It’s very user friendly and easy to use. A couple of suggestions I might have would be to add a “length of barrel” component to the list of variables. Perhaps “barrel twist rate” as well?
Regardless, the calculator is still fantastic.
    Thank you!
  • Great app

Use this app constantly when creating loads for the different rounds I create. Wonderful resource. Works well and provides quick information. I recommend it to any reloaded.
