Not functional
I opened the app, logged in, tapped play on a video and it showed me a black screen. I quit the app and tried again, same result.
Managed to get worse
How could this business screw itself anymore? I leaned how to speak Chinese from this podcast in 2012. This is just so sad. They threw away all this great content. The app doesn't function. I want a refund.
Great Content Terrible App
I have the same feedback of the last guy. The lessons are amazing, but the app is just awful. I really want to subscribe, but the app is unusable.
-videos won’t close once you open them
-lessons are organized in too many categories, pretty messy
- I just want to listen to the lessons, but the feature for doing that are really low quality
These are just some examples. Overall, the app needs a lot of work in all aspects- design, navigation, organization, functionality. Such a shame because the lessons themselves are so good.

Stay far away
I tried Chinese Pod for a bit. The lessons were average and the app was clunky. Canceled it, the subscription was removed from my list, and the option to cancel was removed from my app.
Yet for a whole year afterwards, they continued to charge me. I wrote to customer service explaining the issue to them and asked for a refund of the $359.88 that they overcharged, since it is clearly a problem on their end that didn’t register the canceled subscription.
After over 10 emails over the course of a year explaining and re-explaining, they refuse to refund me and keep offering coupons for future service.
I have no choice but to contest it as fraud with my credit card.
STAY AWAY.

Update - works OK when I turn off VPN
That said, it would be nice if the app handled connectivity errors a little more smoothly.
Doesn’t support google/Facebook login
I wanted to try this app to start learning Chinese, so I logged in with Google on the website and signed up for a free trial. Low and behold, the app doesn’t even support the way I logged in! The web interface supports mobile pretty well, so honestly, you guys shouldn’t even have an app if it’s going to be completely inferior to the website.

App not functional
I pay a lot of money to subscribe to ChinesePod, I find the website very helpful but my money should also include being able to have a functional app. The app constantly crashes, doesn’t save things, bugs out, it’s just not usable…
Terrible app
Great content but terrible app - you can’t exit a video without force closing the entire app, and even simple things like sorting the lessons from oldest to newest is impossible - please fix!
Best things in my life
I love the app, and I’m not a parent, I’m a child. This app has replaced Chinese school because the content is great! I’ve been studying hard for a year now and Can converse in some basic mandarin conversations. The style of learning is different than most but it works the best for me. As for the app, it has a couple bugs here and there but who cares? They’ll probably fix it soon. Lastly, the app rating is so low because it used to have so many lags and bugs but they are mostly gone now. Thank you chinesepod for teaching me Chinese in such a relaxing and easy way!
