My girlfriend and I bought 2 biostraps in November because we were sold on the HRV, exercise tracking and sleep tracking.

Everything was great for the first three month, until they started making firmware updates. Since then nothing has worked as expected and we have had to issue replacements on both sensors.

The only thing this device is good for is sleep tracking (when it works - one replacement was because it stopped tracking sleep altogether).

Exercise tracking is false. It does work for most cardio exercises, but not for weightlifting. The company promotes that it can tell the difference between a sumo deadlift and a regular deadlift. It can’t. Sometimes it confuses pull-ups with push-ups. All of this is fine, but the kicker is that it does not track any biometrics while exercising. I asked the company if this was intentional and they told me it was. This means the device is really only for tracking biometrics when at rest. Basically a sleep tracker. For a while I tried just not starting the exercise and wearing a wrist band to prevent light noise from interfering with the sensor and I found that the tracking was not accurate when active at all- so I get why they turn it off, bust seems more like a bug than a feature.

Mine started “soft bricking” now- and they just released a new firmware update that is supposed to prevent this, so very discouraging. Basically “soft bricking” is when the sensor runs low on battery and you put it on the charger, but it won’t charge until the sensor is completely drained, which unfortunately takes multiple days, so I’ve only been able to even use the strap 48-72 hours every 10 days-ish. This makes all the tracking and baselining worthless.

I engaged the company about a possible return, but they unfortunately don’t stand behind their products past their three month policy, even when it seems their firmware updates are causing more problems than fixes. I’m extremely disappointed in this product and regret giving them my money.

If you do decide to give this device a shot, make sure you return within three months since their developers make it very difficult to anticipate when things will break. Or better yet... just pay a little more and buy an Apple Watch.

  • Great app, great fitness band

A great app has gotten steadily better with each update. Auto-detection of sleep works flawlessly, and all the biometric information is presented so you can easily spot longer term health trends as well as more granular short term data. The auto-detection of various exercises still needs some fine tuning, but I have no doubt it's just a matter of time. A+ for effort.

  • Firmware upgrade ruined it

No longer tracks sleep correctly. So all other data is questionable and possibly way inaccurate too.
  • Majorly Underimpressed

This device is clumsy at best out of the box. Issues with the wristband disconnecting. Heart rate and O2 saturation is measured every ten minutes and that’s if there is no ambient light. App keeps crashing on my IPhone X. They give you the run around if you ask to return then stick you with a $25 restocking fee. A restocking fee on a product that doesn’t work as sold. That’s just a bunch of crap. Don’t waste your money.

  • Not impressed with Heart Rate and O2

I'm playing with this for my first time today and my unfortunate impression is that I will return it unsatisfied. This only records heart rate and oxygen saturation every 10 minutes!! That's very disappointing and to me, completely useless. It shouldn't even measure these if it's not more frequent, in my opinion. I set a function to make it record more often but it's poorly documented on how frequent it will measure. To the company,

"please hold your breath for 10 minutes and if you can't, tell me how useful the oxygen saturation test is. "

Exercise and sleeping both cause big changes to heart rate and oxygen saturation. For example, sometimes in a stressful exercise tend to hold our breat. Sleeping with snoring or apnea issues can cause you to stop breathing too. In either case, heart rates increase and oxygen levels decrease but these are very brief and never going to be recorded if the recording interval is 10 minutes. Personally I think you should record these continuously if a user wants them but every 30 seconds is about a minimum to me.

I will continue looking for a device that can properly track my heart rate, oxygen and movements with better granularity.

Update - I may have spoken / reviewed too soon! I tried manual recordings last night and it appears they're may be more frequent recordings when you records at least sleep manually. I can tell how frequent but I can find the clear fluctuations.

  • Fantastic Experience

The biostrap is pretty amazing. Life quantified! The insights are amazing. Great dashboard, deep dive into the details. I mean the sleep breakdown is very cool. I’m upgrading with the shoe clip because it’s just been such a great experience. Great customer support when I had questions.
  • Huge fan and user of BioStrap

This is an incredible product. I use it daily, find it very accurate and it has improved my well-being. The company is run by a world-class team and I think the sky is the limit for BioStrap. Highly recommended over other products.
  • Feedback for the app

Thank you for the guidance and the updates. The device is working much better. I also turned on the light skin feature. This has made the device more reliable for me. Thanks again!!!
  • Recent Update Renders Product Useless

The latest app update makes it so the app won’t open at all, simply crashes. This makes this expensive wearable completely useless.
  • Latest update!

Latest updates crashes, please fix as I cannot sync or view any info!
