Horrible

I finally gave up on this app. It crashed constantly. Never keeps the show I was watching on que, I’d have to search for the show again and find my episode. If lucky, occasionaly the show would be under watchlist (mabye). Hit resume only to start a completely different episode at the beginning or crash. Auto start next episode, crash. In the middle of a show, crash. It does display the episode on the AppleTV Home Screen. Click on it and wait for a surprise as to what the app will do. Switching from one AppleTV to another, never saves anything. They have certain shows I want to watch and can only watch here. I no longer care. Canceled and deleted, I’d rather have commercials. I know apps have issues but this many, constantly? AppleTV 4K newest model, software updated, no internet issues, 1200mbps speed.

Issues with casting

Generally the app seems to work pretty well (have only been using it for a week). One issue I have repeatedly encountered is with ending casting to TV. When I try to stop casting casting and open up the tv show that has been playing, it flicks down again too quickly for me to touch the casting symbol and disconnect. …supersonic reflexes would be required to achieve this! Possibly I’m doing something wrong given I’m new to this app? The only way I can ‘un cast’ is to start another app casting….this breaks the connection. Others no other problems with the app.

App doesn’t work properly via chromecast

I read the reviews dating back months assuming the old issues would have been fixed. No such luck. I would have continued with the subscription but, like many others, I had to cancel because the App was so useless via chromecast. I had to delete and re-load the App after EVERY programme I watched. All the other subscriptions I have, work perfectly. The fact that they have the audacity to charge the same as some
Of other the major players for a below average App with limited content is mind blowing.

Just not up to scratch

I was looking forward to watching all the UK shows I remembered and all the new ones I’ve read about, unfortunately that was not to be. This feels like a beta version. The buffering itself shouldn’t happen these days. All other apps, Netflix etc perform as they should. I’ve designed and built many apps, many in the finance sector and can’t see why this is so bad. I think they need to go back to the drawing board. Won’t be renewing the subscription. Best of luck with the new version, when you are competing with the big boys you can’t just drop a MVP. There’ll be no take up or return. You’ve already lost me. And I’ve told lots of other ex pats.

A scam - find another streaming service!

I signed up for the free trial, entered in my payment information, and then I couldn’t even sign in through the app to watch anything. Britbox said I had an incorrect password, so I requested password reset MULTIPLE times and it never sent to my email (only email I received was a welcome). Britbox charged me after the 7-day free trial ran out. I called them, they said my email and my pay details aren’t even in their system. I told them that the email IS correct, and I’ve been charged already. while I’m on the phone with customer sevice going back and forth, somehow MAGICALLY i’m finally able to log into my account……but to my surprise, there’s no record of my charge underneath the billing history, and I can’t even delete my account??? This was a complete scam and customer support didn’t really help. I could care less about the $8, (the website says $6.99), I just want to delete my account!!! They are completely lying when they said they don’t have my payment info on file, how else would I be charged?? Feels like a violation.

Response from developer

Hi there, sorry to hear you've had troubles with the app. Please also check your Apple subscriptions, as you may have subscribed using your Apple account. If that's the case, we're not able to reference your payment details and we can't make changes to your subscription on your behalf, such as cancelling. We'll continue to work with you directly to resolve this, too.

Not worth it!

First of all, if I was 60+ the shows on this streaming service (if you can even call it that, so buggy and glitchy like all the other reviews say) would be fine because they're the shows my parents love. No offence to 60+ year olds but if don't add come dine with me (and I mean every episodes ever) then I won't be rejoining any time soon, how can you call it the best of British television if you don't have that show?! Seriously, if you are under the age of 45 you'll probably get the free trial and then cancel it because it's boring AF murder mystery copy and paste BS. Bye Brit Box.

Credit where credit is due! Update

I don’t know who thought this new design was a winner for BritBox but it’s a total clunker for users. The design is neither clean nor intuitive - it is in fact a total disaster. And who was the genius that decided you would force users to navigate this app in portrait mode only - even though your content is best viewed in landscape mode? Back in November you stated a new design would be delivered soon. You promised it would allow us to navigate and view content all in landscape mode. Remember that promise? Well, it’s February and while there have been updates, we are still forced to twist our iPads like we are clearing an Etch a Sketch just to view and navigate your content. Why?

UPDATE

Well, it took a while but the latest app update is a real winner. Gone are all the forced awkward gymnastics needed to search and play content. Now the app is smooth, intuitive, and it just plain works! Finally, an app worthy of the truly great content offered by BritBox.

Absolutely Appalling

Signed up for the free trial as I have been desperate to watch the new season of Line of Duty. App won’t stay open for five seconds before crashing. It’s managed to connect via Chromecast twice out of a dozen tries, and then when I hit play on the episode I want to watch, the app immediately crashes again. Other times, it crashes a few seconds after I open it. Complete waste of time and total rubbish - as others have said, it’s appalling that an app should have this many issues and still have the audacity to expect payment for the privilege of not being able to use the thing. I have every other streaming service known to man and have never used an app with this many issues right off the bat. How they got the rights to so many great programs when their tech is this bad is beyond me. Save your time and money and just torrent the stuff you really want to watch!

Terribly flawed app

UPDATE: they finally gave us landscape mode on the iPad so I’m adding two more stars. Now if they would just give us a way to delete shows from the “continue watching” list other than to watch the entire thing. And if it’s a multiple series show, you have to go to the last episode of the last series and fast forward to near the end, and let it play all the way out to the end to remove it from continue watching. And even that doesn’t always work. This is a big deal because there are loads of things I preview and decide are not for me. The continue watching list becomes littered with don’t wants making it tedious to find those I do want to continue.

Good

Liking the app and the shows offered. A few problems with the app being slow to load initially. Also, once casting from a device to a tv has been enabled the app tries to automatically cast all the time even if the tv is off. It is then difficult to redirect back to the device. Once these issues have been overcome, however, the app is great and works as expected. I am enjoying the shows.
