  • Bible app done right

This app is good and has lots of good info. Videos to explain its meaning of each verse and very detailed by the church fathers. Has daily quotes, gives in depth history of each verse from the apostles and saints that took part of Jesus Christ missionary work. But wish it was in Spanish cus my mother doesn’t know English very much. I also wished it had an encyclopedia for words and word bank that talks about the Greek and gives us lessons that we can look at and study it. Would love that it would add more tools like history of the rosary and why the mysteries on it are in the Bible as a way to express the powers of reciting it and where to find it in the Bible. And more, cus that way it can help not only build the faith but also to create this rich archive to find and save more work and show to the world.

  • Excellent all round

Most comprehensive commentary on the Holy Bible. Easy to find a church Father comment on every verse. Excellent concordance linking similar verses on the same topic. Very smooth interface with constant updates and improvements. Daily church Father’s sayings are fantastic!
  • Amazing App

This is truly an amazing app that is a blessing to those who wish to have the fathers while they read. On Mobile it is unfortunate that you cannot change Bible translations, but it’s well okay when you have thousands of writings of the father for the entirety of scripture.
  • Great app

Is it possible to get other translations (Esv or rsv ce2)? Thanks
  • Great app

There are some things, I think, you have to learn through a mentor. Biblical interpretation is one of these things. If you don’t have access to a live mentor, and even if you do hearing the combined witness of the Fathers will help you out a ton. They are rightly theological heavyweights and passers-on of traditional interpretations.

It is unfortunate that there are so few post-Chalcedonian Fathers included in this collection, but seeing as this app is both made by the Oriental Orthodox and designed to be ecumenical, I’m not all that surprised. Either way, the early Fathers provide just as good a witness to the Faith as later ones.

One thing I think would help fulfill this app’s mission is the addition of of a search function, or some kind of concordance. I know Strong’s is in the public domain. That way you can look up a specific verse you might want to hear about, and read the commentaries. Some way to filter out certain commentators would be nice, too.

  • Great App

The Catena Bible App is very easy to read and navigate. I find the commentary to be especially useful because it allows you to interact with the text more and also share it. I have it on my smart phone and refer to it during times I’m waiting.
  • Awesome app

I’m not sure who put this together, but I know it was a tremendous effort to go through every book in the Bible and search out the early Church Father’s comments on each of those books. I’m really enjoying it.
  • Other versions not opening

Overall the app is incredible. Very streamline and helpful. Unfortunately since the other versions have been uploaded I have been unable to access them. I click on the Douay-Rheims tile in settings, but the version seems to remain stuck on KJV 2000. For reference I am using it on the iPhone. Any help would be great! Thanks!

  • One of the best apps. Hands down.

Probably the best resource for patristics.
The new video commentary is an added benefit. The only thing I would ask to add is the date and title from where the commentary came from. Right now they just have the date the church father died.
  • Best bible app, but has some flaws.

I downloaded this app a few months ago and it was great. Although I believe a few tweaks are needed. For example whenever I click on a verse, the commentary on it sometimes freezes and doesn’t allow me to scroll further down. Also I would appreciate if you added more specific references to each quotation.
