Very good but can become great
This is an amazing app with very interesting stories for anyone looking for their particular interest. Whether that be Latin history, sci-fi, mystery , or current events it’s good for it all. However my only problem I would say with the app well actually it’s 2 problems that I believe holds this app back from being great or perfect. The first one is the UI. I wish it was cleaner and smoother. Just feels to clunky and basic. The next thing is the quizzes. I think they are both too easy and too short. I think I good spot to make sure people learn the language and the content would be to make the quizzes 10 to 15 questions long. To fully make sure someone understood the content. I like the app, It’s helped me so much but It’s missing so many features
1) the main page needs work. Its annoying that we can’t have preset filters set to our account OR recommendations based on my prior readings. I’m personally interested in the Culture and Science articles. But I always have to scroll and hunt for it or apply filters. I do want recommendations based on my prior readings or be able to set multiple different filters on the home page. As soon as I open the app I want to be able to jump into some new reading, not spend 5 minutes looking for something
2) the other big issue is the flash cards section. It needs a way to shuffle the cards like Quizlet. I also don’t see how I can remove a word from the glossary section once I’m done.
3) another issue is there are readings that are often grouped together (part 1,2,3 etc). So many times I would stumble upon a series of readings with multiple parts on the home page, read part 1, then the series would not appear again on my home page. It would be nice if there was a “similar to this” once you’re finished a reading. Then I would be able to immediately jump into part 2 rather than go looking for it

I really wanted to stick with this app, as I love the learning format. The app itself, however, borders on unusable. Loading is extremely slow, and content often hangs forever until a reload. Filters don’t work: I choose the “Beginner 1” level filter and am still shown content from every level. So I have to pick and choose at mystery meat (which all loads slowly) until I find a story that is actually at my level. It also lets you click on locked stories and only tells you they’re locked after you click on them. These issues are bad enough that I won’t be using the app. Also, as far as the learning presentation, as much as I like it overall, I’d prefer an option to see the language and translation next to each other, stacked together line-by-line. Having them visually separated at the top and bottom of the page makes it harder to associate words. Great start, however; I’ll probably come back to this at a later date to see how it’s changed/improved.Show lessTactfulCactii

The trial ends with the most expensive annual plan purchase. It’s one of those apps where you can’t access it without signing up for the trial, and then you have to remember to cancel or they will charge you the MAX! There was even a promotional annual option but it default charged the regular annual amount.
The app itself is pretty good. The audio sounds natural when reading articles and stories. I liked that I could add any word to my bank for quiz like review. You can filter for reading level, and they have Mexico Spanish when most apps only have Spain Spanish.Show lessWyoming Valarie
Too buggy
This would be two stars if I didn’t love the concept so much. In the current era, there is no excuse for this to not be a 5-star app without bugs. I signed up for premium (because I didn’t know there was a free option) and have been using it about a week. Despite being an absolute beginner, it has been offering me mostly intermediate and some advanced reading. It has been difficult to even find beginner stories/articles/etc. In addition, I have somehow amassed over 1,700 words in my vocabulary glossary; most are above my skill level and have no context, which makes the flash cards worthless. Lastly, the app has bugged out in the middle of stories when I try to play/pause or scrub forward/backward. When it does that, the story malfunctions, and I cannot resume reading. The other bug is that the app has not successfully tracked my completed progress as I have read 5-10 stories with a goal of three, and the app is sending me reminders to reach my goal for the week, which I have clearly surpassed.

I love this app! Its cheap and very helpful! It shows you real conversations and conversations from different parts of the world and cultures. I wish however we had a quiz option to quiz ourself besides the flash cards. I also wish that is took out the flashcards you memorized and put them out of the unmemorized stack so you didn't have to sift through all of them. This app helps me piece conversation together and improve my speech. I recommend 9/10 :)Show lessDanaaaaaa12345
Streaking Monitor Needed
This app needs a place to see my daily streaks. I am not able to locate a place that tells me whether the app has registered that I have met today's study quota or not. Datacamp and Sololearn have this feature. I'm surprised this app does not. Most other features I like, which is why I'm a paying member.

Very helpful
This app has been so helpful with me learning Korean vocabulary with the beginner stories, I often come across apps or other Korean material that feels too a little too as advanced even if it’s deemed as “beginner” level. One of the features I like a lot, other than the stories being easy to get into, is the read along feature with the highlighting, it makes reading easier to follow and the audio still sounds has a nice natural flow. I got this app to help me learn Japanese by reading and hearing songs/stories. The issue I have with this app is that for Japanese, there is so option to show the furigana for the kanji, which can make it difficult to read, as well as proper pronunciation. When I first started this app, it gave me an example of listening and repeating a kanji vocabulary. But because there was no furigana and the example pronunciation that you can listen to didn’t help with making out how to say the kanji properly, I couldn’t make out if the word started with a b or an h and so I have no idea how to properly read and say this kanji. So, until this app is able to show, for Japanese, the furigana and pronunciation for vocab and kanji, I will not be using this app or purchasing a subscription.Show lessKitkat Aden

The app is really buggy and features often don’t work the way they are supposed to. I’m doing French and some of the narration is too slow, even when set at normal speed. The narration is gravel-y on some stories which makes it unnatural and hard to understand. The year long plan is inexpensive and there is a lot of content so I still plan to use it but it is just ok IMO.Show lessKL0120
