Much better

Significantly improved since last years challenge. Apple health sync is great. Though I think it’s over-counting my steps, despite syncing from apple health. There’s no real settings to play with, so I don’t see how or why it could be, but it’s often close to double my step count! I worry that many of the challenge participants are going to have massively inflated step counts!

Developer response to this bug is to fiddle with settings rather than just fix the app to not double count. This is a worry. ):

Response from developer

Hi by the-frog, thank you for your feedback! We are glad to hear that integration with Apple Health is helpful. We are aware that steps can be duplicated if your Motion & Fitness Settings allowing steps from the Apple Health app itself to also be imported in addition to those counted by your device causing a high step count. This can be disabled in iOS devices in Settings >Privacy > Motion and Fitness. If you have any further questions, please contact our team at 10000steps@cqu.edu.au. Thank you, 10,000 Steps Team.

Unable to log into the app

I am unable to log in via the app but can log in via a link in the email. However unable to syn the apple health app with 10,000 steps app. I have a iPhone 14 pro max. Very frustrating to say the least

Response from developer

Hi there, we are sorry to hear that you are having troubles logging in. You may need to delete the app and re-install. In regards to connecting with Apple Health, the integration will need to be set up under Integrations (more information is provided here: https://www.10000steps.org.au/support/10000-steps-app/connecting-apple-health/) . If you need any further support please contact our team on 10000steps@cqu.edu. Thank you, 10,000 Steps Team.

Needs work

Pretty much doesn’t work. Seriously overcounts steps despite being synced with apple health. Loses days, for example it’s currently Monday 3rd October and my ‘yesterday’ is for Saturday 1st

Response from developer

Hi Ddfm1_12, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were unable to view your steps for Monday 3ed October on the mobile app. This glitch was due to daylight savings, but rest assured that you can still enter and save steps on the website for this day. In regards to your steps being overcounted, your steps may be being imported from the Apple Health app as well as your device. This can be disabled in iOS devices in Settings >Privacy > Motion and Fitness. If you have any further questions, please contact our team at 10000steps@cqu.edu.au. Thank you, 10,000 Steps Team.

Outdated

The website is great, however this app is sooo outdated. Looks like it’s still meant for an iPhone 4 screen.. also there needs to be more options for it to connect to other devices.

Response from developer

Hi Je$ic@!!!, we are glad to hear that you like the website and we appreciate your feedback. We are currently working on an updated version of the app which should be released in the coming months. 10,000 Steps Team

Over reporting steps

I have used the new function to allow this app to connect with my apple health app to access the step data. However it is recording a number significantly higher than my apple health step counter. There’s no correlation at all between the numbers on the two apps.
This feature doesn’t work well at all.

Behind the times

The app isn’t optimised for latest generation devices, no biometric login, can’t sync with Apple health, the app has a outdated aesthetic and seems as though no one has updated the app in a long time.

Installed, logged in, deleted app…

Response from developer

Hi tonton378, thank you for your feedback. Integration with Apple Health is now live in version 4.8.4. We will certainly consider your feedback and do our best to make improvements if the resources become available in the future. 10,000 Steps Team.

Can’t even login!!!

Hi,

I just downloaded this app and the login screen doesn’t allow me to log in once I’ve submitted password and email address. All it does is take me to me saved passwords and I don’t want to save the password. Really annoying!

Disappointing

Very ordinary App, takes three or four goes to sign in using password. Then keyboard doesn’t disappear so you can’t tap on the sign button as it is in the way. Have deleted App.

Hi postscrip! Thank you very for letting us know, we appreciate the feedback :). 10,000 Steps team.

Syncing

Why doesn’t this sync with the iPhone Health app?? It makes no sense to enter steps manually, and scoring physical activity as steps is ridiculous. The site is all about steps, count steps - or if you want to record physical activity, then use the heart rate monitor to sync that activity as well. There should be no manual input, as whenever there is, figures get fudged...

Response from developer

Hi djlen_ny, we have just released a new version (4.8.4) which syncs with Apple Health. As we are not for profit, we have not previously had the resources to make this much wanted upgrade in the past. It is up to each individual to record their steps as accurately as possible and we need to allow for participants who do not have trackers or would like to amend their steps to input manually. We encourage our members to move in ways that they enjoy, which doesn't always equal steps. 10,000 Steps Team.
