Verification Time

I submit a request for verification and Fat Llama has stated maximum 1 hour. It is now almost 24 hours later and I still do not have a verification. Probably the worst app for connecting products to people on this entire App Store. We people have lives can’t be constantly checking. Trying to contact the service center is also a ghost town. I sent them an email and no reply. I understand it is based in the UK but at least give your international users you will only operate during UK hours. Ridiculous.

Does anyone use this app?

I think this is a wonderful idea. But with over a year of bugginess, there’s still plenty of UI elements that are unusual for normal users to understand, swaying people away from using it. I was able to navigate through the app myself just fine, but I can understand where most users might be confused and will think that the app simply doesn’t work. This factor alone must be addressed otherwise it’ll continue to fizzle out its user base to the point that the concept won’t work. This app in its current state is deserted and has no users. Renters post items & will leave the app after they realize that there’s no user base looking to rent. Then (IF) they ever do get the offer, it’ll be long after they've removed the app from their phones. I’ve attempted renting from others with no responses. I hope that this concept will be realized eventually.

App has a fundamental flaw rendering it unusable

You guys really need to sort this out please - cannot access messages unless closing down the app and then clicking the link from the text, even then it often does not open. Clicking on the message just makes the bar go grey - it doesn’t open the message! Then your algorithm penalises me for not answering fast enough. Maddening. You also lower our acceptance rate when borrowers change their mind and cancel through you, which is insane because that’s got nothing to do with us accepting! You never fix the things we complain about - or respond to complaints about them! On top of that you’re taking too much commission now, while the standards of the app and website dive...

Great App with good potential

Needs to work out some kinks such as easier viewing of all of a lenders items and a few other polishes and it will be perfect. Great protection on paper and seems really safe given the smaller community.

EDIT: Had my first claims process over a damaged item. I’d recommend just paying for the repair out of your pocket and avoid negotiations if you have any doubts about cooperation otherwise you will struggle coming to a simple agreement. Still currently waiting (after 2 months) for a replacement from the borrower after a semi-cooperative negotiation which was complicated by an external agreement outside of Fatllama terms. They will try to keep both parties happy for their own reputation rather then pick sides.

Buggy app and expensive fees

It’s a good service overall but the app is terribly buggy. It used to be that I wouldn’t get message notifications and so miss out on rentals. Now the login screen doesn’t even work so I can’t use it at all. It’s been this way for months.

The fees are also pretty high. They charge both the renter and equipment owner a service fee, resulting in about a 25% cut. Not sure how that compares to competing services but sure seems like a lot to me.

Best app for renting and letting

I can tell that Fatllama definitely changed my life. Last year I wanted to start my photography business, but I didn’t have any money for it. I found this app on Facebook ads and I was like “Okay, it’s something interesting there, let me try it”. I started to rent cameras from different people every week and I gained my own customers very fast. After 2 months I made enough money to buy my own equipment. So now it’s me who let cameras on Fatllama :) Thank you guys. You’ve really done a nice job.

Run by Charlatans

I’m not going to put too much effort Into this review. As far as I know the app works fine, other than the amount of hoops you have to jump through to sign up for rental, and if anything is wrong you just get a text message saying it hasn't been accepted, no feedback on what it was so you know what to change.

All of a sudden found I no longer had access to the website. I got in touch with their help email who offered the bare minimum of information in response, largely ignoring my urgency plea and telling me to email the feedback team, washing their hands of the situation. I still haven't heard back from the feedback team.

I’m sure if it works, it's great, but this did not work for me. And the inability to deal with the situation by their ”customer service” team has made me think twice about using their site if the feedback team do decide to get in touch.

Such a great app

The app is getting there but needs improvement

My most recent issue with it is I was just typing some feedback for a borrower which needed a short explanation. However one the type box was filled I couldn’t see the words I typed after that.

Also when you upload images to support the description for a new listing, very often the images appear upside down and have to be corrected.

The account is very transparent about payments that you’ve earned and deductions which is great. Not sure about my approval metric percentage being adversely affected because a borrower mistakenly books one item but wants multiples of that item in another listing instead and wants the initial hire booing cancelled. The reasons your allowed to choose from are too limited.
