  • Good game, but keeps crashing

I brought the full version, but start to restart the game every turn, really annoying specially because takes two minutes to restart and as I read on the others reviews it’s a constant problem and still not fixed, I wouldn’t buy again.
  • Great port but has it’s issues

If you want civ at the touch of your hands at any moment then go ahead and get this. It’s a great port of the beloved series of Sid Meier’s Civilization but, of course, it does come with it’s own drawbacks being limited by the mobile platform. As many would know most civ games can take up many hours, even days, which can lead to a warmer phone and sometimes crashes. With multiple A.I, later turns could end up taking 5 to 10 minutes depend on how many you have. Regardless of these issues I can still have an enjoyable game with 4 or 5 A.I and 6 city states. It’s only after intense play(2-3 hrs) that you actually start experiencing these problems. I have to say is pretty mind blowing that at one point I was play civ 3 on a dinosaur to playing it on a smartphone. Great buy if you wanna blow time away like old days, two reasons I give it a 4 are the gameplay issues at times but also how the game support is handled verses pc. It’s very lacking when it comes to dlc or patches coming out for the game. I’m sure this comes down a small staff for the game and my support goes out to you guys. Guess I’m too used to weekly updates for games.

  • I love the game however some major issues bug me

I love the Civilization series and was excited to purchase it when it released on iPad. I play it a lot however every game I play I get to the point that the game crashes almost every single turn. This is extremely annoying as it forces me to reload the entire app then replay my turn. If this is fixed it would easily be a 5 star game.

  • Amazing port to iPad

This app is the real deal. Fully featured civ on an iPad! Runs perfectly on a 10.5” iPad Pro, even with the resolution mod enabled. Would definitely recommend this tweak if you’re planning on playing this on a 10.5” iPad Pro or newer cause it can handle it without it lagging etc. For those unsure what the resolution tweak is, google ‘civ 6 iPad resolution’. It makes the game take full advantage of the retina screens that iPads have. Why this isn’t an in game option I have no idea!
Only negative about the game is how much battery life it chews through... although this is to be expected given what it is. Please bring more expansions to the iPad game devs :)

  • System Crashes

Civ Vi has been a long run favourite game of mine, since the revolution days on pc, however the game is experiencing a large amount of crashes, mostly when waiting for AI turns to pass, this has been going on, at least in my experience for the past two weeks or so, please fix.. I quite enjoy this and don’t want to keep on waiting 2 mins to load up a save file every time a crash occurs.

    Kind regards

  • Good game, shame I’m such a n00b

Thanks to excellent customer service from Aspyr, I figured out how to manage the settings in my phone/handheld computer so I can play this game.

I love how this is a full game, while I’m out and about. It is still engrossing. The “one more turn” still means I sleep too late.

It does chew up battery life, and the phone gets too warm.

And this is the best strategy God game I can hope for, given the rest of my family has taken over the Wii (Zelda: Twilight Princess is da best game Eva!) and the desktop computer, and my cheap laptop is now mostly unusable thanks to MS and lots of background processes.

Merry meet, y’all & enjoy your holidays.

    Developer Response

The screen pixelation on the iPhone XR has been fixed! You can check out the new update and the full game for FREE for 60 turns!
  • Great Game - Needs Update

This game is awesome and well worth the price. I just have once request; Please update it to support the new iPad Pro screen resolution and also allow for better quality graphics now that the 2018 iPad Pro is so powerful. Don’t get me wrong, the game looks great but it doesn’t look as sharp as it does on he computer. If you update to suit the new ipad resolution I’d give it 5 stars without a doubt.

  • Incredible

I was very dubious about how a complex game like Civ 6 would work on a touchscreen - but it’s brilliant and intuitive - pretty much a port of the full PC or Mac game. Only snag is that there are very long waits times between turns on the Air 2 but if you can live with that, and the fact that battery time is likely to be very short, there’s nothing not to like (just be prepared to run it on ‘charging’ most of the time).

  • The game runs great until it doesn’t.

Civ has been a long time coming for the iPad, and I’m glad that it’s here. However, every game I’ve played so far has had either minor, game-breaking, or critical bugs spring up.

Some bugs I’ve encountered so far:

Units, city-states, and other in game entities become intangible following in game events. For example, I couldn’t interact with a city state at all following my liberation of it. Sometimes re-starting fixes the problem, sometimes not. This happens often with traders. Sometimes I cannot send my own trading units anywhere for hundreds of turns. Other times it’s foreign traders that seem to be stuck in my own territory.

Losing large amounts of gold despite running a large surplus. Everything seems to be going great. You’re making a lot of gold per turn, but then you notice that your total gold has been dropping dramatically. Eventually you get a warning that you’re out of gold and need to make changes. Except there’s no way to fix the supposed problem as you appear to making a healthy surplus. You have to start a new game. I remember having a similar problem in Civ IV on PC.

Worst of all, sometimes the game will reach a point and just stop. Re-loading does not fix this, and you have to start a new game, or even re-install.

There are many game and content related issues that could be addressed in my opinion, but the developers should focus on stability first.

  • Best strategy game on iPad.

The people saying that the price is too much, please consider what you’re getting. The full Civilization 6 experience. They pulled no punches in porting over the experience, the only compromise that there is, concerns the visuals. The models are a lower setting than the computer game and it’s a minor thing. The resolution is downgraded as well but that isn’t the purpose of the game. It is meant to be a top of the line strategy game. It definitely delivers on that point. Whether you are fighting for a religious victory or going for world domination... there are so many aspects to consider. So many options to choose.

Also, concerning the price. There have been sales on the game and they say to watch out for sales in the future. I just bought it on sale for about $25 after tax. Over 50% off in total. It’s amazing that they even decided to do so. I’m happy to take advantage of it. There is even local multiplayer. The “hot seat,” a mode that lets you share an iPad for each turn, so it’s basically a board game for your entire family at that point. At least if they are as nerdy as you. Great investment for the entire family.

I can’t wait to get the DLC.
