Competitive APY on savings accounts

Very easy to use banking app. I am able to set up bill pay transfers to move money between my other external accounts, so it seems that other reviewers haven’t caught on. FNBO Direct offers a competitive rate on its HYSA, so huge plus there. FNBO is a solid regional bank and it’s great to see them offer online-only deposit accounts for those that don’t need brick and mortar access.

It’s 2033

And I still can’t make an external transfer between my main checking account and my FNBO high yield savings account. Guys, it’s 2023. It’s been 3 years since someone else left a review complaining about this exact same issue. Please update the app.

Terrible online technology

50% of the time when I go online to check my balance, I get a sorry we are having technical difficulties. When I try to access my account with my laptop and enter my user name and password it flips me over to my First National checking account, even though I have a different user name and password. This is an online bank! Terrible customer service.

Should not be difficult to make an external transfer

The app does not support external transfers. That is table stakes for banks in 2023. The process is truly terrible — clients are required to open a web browser and login to a non mobile optimized page to transfer funds. It should NOT be this difficult

How is their customer service this bad???

This company so far has been a real piece of *ahem* work.

I should open with saying that the CC division of FNBO has been great. Okay, now to my review:

I first attempted to open a checking account with FNBO Direct in December, but I mistakenly selected “Savings”, and by the time I realized this, it was too late, I could not cancel the application, which meant I could not start over and apply for a checking account instead.

I called Customer Service and they said I had to finish the application for the savings account before applying for a checking account. Remember this is a product I did not even want. This process involved having to email documents for address verification, which they don’t prompt you for until you’ve eve opened the account, and to literally MAIL IN your initial deposit using USPS.

Since finally being able to open my checking account a month ago, I’ve had to go the exact same process — address verification (which mandates you call their CS # bc they don’t come out and tell you where to send it) and a mail-in initial deposit. In a neat little twist, they gave me a different email address to send my address verification documents each time. There is no excuse for making customers go through these vague and inconsistent steps.

On top of it all, their customer service representatives, when you do get them on the phone, really don’t seem to even want to resolve your issues. They will put you on hold forever and even go so far as to contradict what you tell them.

Not to mention as of today, January 30, 2023, the customer service number doesn’t even work! You select ‘2’ to speak to a rep and it automatically disconnects you. It just drops the call completely.

What on earth is going on? I have no idea, but hey, at least they got me to open two different accounts. I don’t feel very good about using either one, but I don’t have much of a choice right now. Supremely disappointed.

Useless App

If you need to see your account balance or transfer funds to another FNBO account then this app is for you.
Otherwise, it’s useless. Don’t waste your time.
You CANNOT transfer funds to external accounts. Lovely

App doesn’t work

I have used this app for a couple years and it only works about 20% of the time.

Unable to log on

Unable to log on using app. Super inconvenient. Keep getting message that says “unable to verify my identity”.

Working Now

I had problems for several days trying to log in. After several unsuccessful attempts I deleted and reinstalled the app. It is now working okay. Appe seems to be simple and straightforward to use. I really like the mobile deposit feature!

Can’t log in

I haven’t been able to log into this banking app for months. It is unable to verify identity or anything. It’s hogwash to be marketing this bank as an online only service, with no ability at branches to connect to FNBO when I can’t even use the online bank. How has this not been fixed after a year?
