I love this app

I currently use both this app and Duolingo to learn languages and I can say they both have their strengths. This app I would totally recommend for Japanese (and Chinese), it has been an enormous help and I love that it actually explains the grammar. Duolingo is great if you want to spend only a very short time per day learning but it takes an insane amount of time to complete the courses when you learn a couple words a week. (I’ve spent 5 years learning French and I still haven’t completed the course, and i still make a lot of grammar mistakes) However, LingoDeer introduces new words every lesson and lets you practice your words, grammar, etc. however and whenever you would like, which I really like about the app. I believe if you are learning a Latin language, Duolingo is great if you have some previous knowledge of Latin languages, most other languages I would recommend LingoDeer for, especially if you are struggling with sentence structures. Although some of LingoDeer’s courses are not complete since they are relatively new. Overall I think if you are dedicated to spending a decent amount of time learning languages everyday, you should get LingoDeer.

Mediocre

I don't enjoy that when I make an error it highlights the wrong part of the sentence as my mistake. Or that the voices in the courses I use are only female. (Edit after response from dev): no, I mean the part highlighted isn't the part I got wrong but actually a portion of the part I got right, it's a long standing bug. Sometimes I'm not certain how I got it wrong due to this.

I like that I can skip the spelling parts with this app if I just don't want to do them that lesson. I always thought Duo was too focused on spelling so I came to hate that app.
I find spellng very hard even in English anyway, I want to focus on speaking and listening. I'm not sure how good this Lingodeer is for speaking, does it check what I record or is it just down to me to compare with the audio.

I regret giving this 5 stars cause I didn’t notice I HAD TO payyyyy

I had to pay to learn Korean and all of them was so hard and on the second level it did not let me play since I HAD TO PAY

Erreurs de langue d’origine fréquentes

Beaucoup d’erreurs dans l’interface en français

Just (re-)starting

I have only the vaguest memory of having purchased a lifetime subscription to LingoDeer back in the mists of time, but boy am I glad I did. Evidently I wasn't bound and determined to follow through with my studies because I forgot I had LingoDeer and certainly forgot I had a lifetime subscription. But now I've resumed my Thai language studies and while I've only just begun using LingoDeer for Thai, I'm loving it. I decided to be brave and turn off the Romanized phonetics, and that's causing me to actually learn some Thai letters, which nothing has really done for me before quite the same way (and I've used many other apps to study Thai). The LingoDeer method seems to have similarities to the way I learned to read my native language, from my mother reading to me and answering my questions about which words were which. And I find it fun as well (like I did my mother reading to me when I was very young).

I'm not far into my course of study so I can't say a whole lot more about the app, but I definitely do recommend giving it a look if you want to learn any language it offers.

Review After Two Weeks of use

Initially I tried the free version to see how Lingodeer Russian compared to Duolingo Russian, to which I curently have a 1yr subscription......I liked what I saw from Lingodeer so purchased a 1 mo trial run. I find Lingodeer is superior in several key areas: the audio is very CLEAR, and does not sound robotic.......when questions are asked, the voice of the speaker actually RISES in intonation, unlike Duolingo, where most of the time you cannot tell if the speaker is making a statement,or asking a question..........the way the Cyrillic alphabet writing practice is integrated into learning phrases and vocabulary is FANTASTIC..............the ability to CHOOSE which vocabulary words you want to review in flashcards-writing practice is awesome, makes it easier to work on difficult words that are not similar to their English equivalent. One negative point, is that I wish more (perhaps 5-8) additional vocab words could be introduced in each lesson, because many Russian words are already easy to remember, since they are very similar to their English equivalents........and that additional lessons could be developed, as of right now, the Russian content looks small, compared to other languages like French. All in all, I am very impressed with the app; it is fun, and a great tool......not sure if they have a "Lifetime" or "Family Plan", but will look into it, and would love to see it offered if they don't yet have it.

WAY BETTER THAN DUOLINGO

I’ve learnt Japanese both in class and on Duolingo before and so I know the language and how it is taught quite well. - or so I thought. I don’t write reviews much but this app needs to be seen for how much clear effort the people behind it put into the language and when comparing LingoDeer to Duolingo I really do wonder why Duolingo is successful at all. The reason is Duolingo makes learning a language seem easy, but the way they do that is not teach you much at all. While Duolingo is a game, lingo deer will actually teach you something and challenge you. It has extensive writing on each lesson and all of the forms, tenses, pronunciations and conditions with graphs. Although it’s harder and takes more effort, the app makes the information easy to understand. I swear I’m not sponsored but it just makes me sad to see an app so great without much success when compared to a fancy well made app that dosnt teach you anything. I will say, it’s clear that LingoDeer is trying to look like Duolingo, even it’s ads are exactly the same. As well as the format of the app. And when comparing them Duolingo definitely has top coders and app designers whilst LingoDeer is less fancy. In the end all we should care about is learning a language and supporting an app that deserves it.

not good

I would usually use Duolingo instead of this, however I decided to use this, as I wanted to specifically learn Japanese and Korean. On Duolingo, I was previously learning Japanese and was happy with it, but when trying Korean on it, I was disappointed and wanted more from it. Lingodeer will teach you sentences in Korean straight off and was teaching me topics in Japanese that took me ages to get to in Duolingo. However, after my first lesson on both Korean and Japanese, I learnt that to learn further on, you had to pay for it and the prices are absolutely absurd, and with Duolingo, it gives you an option for a 14-day free trial and also an option to keep on learning for free, and all Super Duolingo did was no ads, extra resources to help your mistakes and that’s all. This app would be amazing with that option, and was doing better than Duolingo, however if an option like this isn’t added, I will have to continue to use Duolingo
