  • Beyond meditation, it cultivates integrity

As a long-time but inconsistent practitioner of meditation, I’ve never found the app that integrates everything I know to be true about doing the deep work on self. Brightmind is that app. Yes, the simplicity makes it user friendly, but Toby’s guidance and his insights are what separate this from every other app, and I’ve done them all: Headspace, Insight Timer, Calm, so many others. There is an authenticity and an integrity in Brightmind’s teachings, and a lack of ego and posturing which often shows up in the vocal narration of other ‘gurus.’ The emphasis is not simply on self-improvement, but making the world that much better as part of our journey. In the week that I’ve used it, I’ve seen a shift in my own dedication to the practice. Brightmind is the right mindfulness app for anyone who is in this not simply for themselves but for the greater good.

  • Best Meditation App

This is more then an app to just teach you meditation. It teaches you tool to use in your meditation practice to address different life situations. You also learn to break down your thoughts into the component that make them up. I have explored many different ways to improve my mental and emotional life and this particular approach to meditation is the best I have found. With a small daily time investment you can greatly improve your life.

  • Needs work after update

I’m with others here, I think the major update just released is a huge step back. It’s harder to find content and the experience feels less polished.

I wish the company invested more into more content, or into more ways to incorporate Shinzen style ideas into every day life: think microhit reminders, trigger practice. Or ideas that incorporate modern psychology to help people keep up habits: tiny habits, programs for burning out on meditation (or in my case, being too effortful) or common problems.

Redesigns are often enough just a way of confusing movement with action. It’s really important to ensure that these complex moves aren’t just superficial.

I’m also in the tech industry and work on product. I’m happy to chat, volunteer help, etc.

  • Poor service, can’t cancel

I purchased the app on the Brightmind website and I can’t cancel it. They sent me a notice that it will be renewed in a week, but the links in the email to my payment info doesn’t work, the phone number provided doesn’t work, and I can’t access my billing info nor my subscription options from either the website or from within the app. The response from an email to the company was that it will take a least 5 days to get back to me. If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was a scam.

Hi Mark, my name is Toby Sola and I'm the CEO at Brightmind. It looks like we got back to you within 4 hours via email and confirmed that your subscription was canceled. Can you please revise or remove this review? We're a small team working around the clock to provide high quality meditation instruction at scale, and that comes with all sorts of technical challenges. Please have some patients.
  • Superb App

Really well designed and thought out.
Teaches mindfulness, by giving clear definitions and instructions . Explains clearly the function of each technique.
Although expensive ... learning how your mind works and optimising how you use it .. makes this one of the best investments I can make .
    Well done Brightmind team !

  • Charged £85.99 without warning!

I was moved from the free trial, to the full paid version, without warning, and charged £85.99. I can not afford that sort of spending right now! I do not use the app, and had no intention to upgrade. I am so angry and disappointed that a meditation app, of all things, would use practises which cause so much stress. Not very mindful of you, a deserving 1/5 stars.

  • Wide range of techniques

I used to do TM and live by it, but BrightMind added so many tools in my arsenal, I realized there’s so much more out there I could learn to deepen my practice.

The structure of the app is perfect, and some teachers are just incredible sources of knowledge.

Give yourself 10 minutes a day, it will give your experiences more concentration, clarity and equanimity!

  • Good content, pricey, technical issues

Hold up—I wrote a review for this app recently, and it’s not showing up. I gave it three stars for good content but technical problems, including this new subscription that no longer allows for monthly subscriptions. I wanted to try it again with the “free week” option but was immediately charged, my subscription starting as soon as I purchased it (rather than a week in). If these issues were changed overall, I would recommend the app. But as my review didn’t show up, the app is rated 4+ stars, and I have no idea why the App Store removes certain reviews but not others (when the App Store fails to address its fake review problem), I’m lowering the rating to 2 stars lol.

  • Great app, outstanding support

After trying several meditation apps, I have chosen Brightmind as my go-to. It features a variety of teachers in a widening amount of subject areas. I actually look forward to using it on a daily basis. Due to my own ineptitude, I had some difficulty signing up. Brightmind’s customer support was extraordinary. Their rep was patient, friendly, and responsive. Well done, Brightmind!
