Solid app
I’ve used this hunting, hiking and general exploring with good success. Mostly used in Canada so I wish the layer availability carried north of the border as well.
The only reason for not providing a 5-star review is due to some intermittent bugginess when saving waypointsNSoutdoors1

I move around a lot in the west. I thought BaseMap is a good deal for all 50 states so I’d give it a try. I’ve been using it for a couple years now and overall it is ok.
It takes too long to load map displays. Even when the app is already up (if you come back to it from another app) or if you’re using downloaded offline maps — both of these cases should be quick.
Sometimes the display is incorrect. I’ve found private that gets downloaded as public somehow (correct on online mode but incorrect on offline mode).
The most frustrating part however is when layers get distorted or fail to show up entirely. Fairly often (every week or so of full time use) my app decides to never show layers. The only solution has been to uninstall and then reinstall the app. When you are out on a limited service hunt this is about the last thing you want from a service you pay for.
Sometimes Orange hunt unit boundaries become distorted and large so as to cover up the land underneath. This is also annoying but goes away if I close and reopen the app.

App has some vary important features that can be use to put a stalk on a animal or to find a animal after it has been dispatched. The app is also vary easy to use. What is needed is a little more Canadian content and the app would be perfect.308 coyote

I have been looking for app to use my iPhone as GPS. I can now place marker and select go to and it leads me right back to the spot. Downloaded all the off line maps of where I hunt. So if cell signal is not available I can still get back to my truck, if I get turned around. Of course I still have my trusty compass just in case.Show lessNorwood4538
Great Online. Below Average Offline
Prior to the hunt I researched the layers, downloaded ~15 high detailed sections encompassing the whole unit.
When I had service - the app was great. I could see my buddy who also had the app, I could see trail names, topography, place markers, add/remove layers, unit boundaries, set my bearing and measure distance to different geological items on the map etc.
The issue comes when I didn't have service. At that point I would lose at least one if not all the following things sporadically - the detail would drop to low, most of the trail names would be gone, the ability to add/remove layers unit boundaries, saving point was slow if it worked at all and at points id even lost all app functionality. This was in offline mode when it should of been using all the data I downloaded.
When you have cell/data service BaseMap is far better than OnX but we need these apps for when we don't have service. One would think that if I spent the time to download in high detail the whole unit...I would have all that data and the applied layers available to me offline...but that was not the case.
Online - BaseMap is far superior
