  • Grate app

I hope that soon the property’s and land management will be coming to Canada soon
  • Very good for the price compared to others

Love the functionality for the price. Would like to see support for smart watches for navigation to marker points. I know a few navigation apps support this. Offline maps are great just make sure to select the layers and download them before going into the field. I made the mistake of not downloading them correctly and didn’t have the detail of the terrain I was in and couldn’t figure out why. Operator error.

  • Progressively loosing more and more free features.

I’ve used BaseMap for about 3 years now. When I first downloaded the app, there were so many free features! Over the past 3 years, I have seen several of those free features disappear all together or move to the paid subscription category. I have kept the app this long because one feature, that has continued to be free up until today, was the private land ownership option. With this feature now only being available In the paid subscription version, I think I will have to delete this app all together. The “free” version of this app is just like all the others now. Why use this app, when google or other apps can offer more features and don’t want to charge you for those features? I don’t know who’s running things over there now, but you guys need to get rid of him and reevaluate your business model.

  • Horribly out of date

This app has information that is more than two years out of date. I purchased two pieces of land next to mine. I waited six months and the information have not updated. I reached out to BaseMap and they told me they had to wait for an update from the County. The county information was updated one week after the purchase. A competitors app had updated approximately two months after the purchase. I waited another six months and contacted BaseMap and they advised that their information was current. it has now been more than two years since I purchased the land next to mine and BaseMap still shows the previous owners information. This app is useful for knowing where property lines are but useless when it comes to landowner information

  • Great tool very very helpful

    Great for hunter
  • BaseMap first season

I have used most of the other hunting apps but this one has everything I need. BaseMap is very user friendly I think my maps look better than the others. Overall I am very happy with this app and customer service is outstanding. I had a question about the maps they emailed me my answer very quickly and a pleasure dealing with and these days that is hard to come by. By far my favorite hunting app!

  • App is good but some issues

Overall, I like both the app and desktop versions. They should work to improve the quality of the offline maps. More frustrating is that they still are trying to sell their Research Data add-on product despite them knowing that it is unmaintained and way outdated. For example, it is March 2022, and they still only have hunting data (harvest rates, etc.) up through the 2019 season. Also, their season date info is still only from 2020. I purchased this last year and was a complete waste of $10 since the data was old, and when I asked them about it, I got the canned “we’re sorry” response. How about not selling a service that you cannot support? They stated that they only download from Eastman’s data once per year. Ok…so why not download when you know they’ll have more data. But even that is not true because they are still 2 years behind! And yes this is the case for ALL states and regions…I checked. Instead of selling an unusable product just to have it listed as a feature of their app vs competitors, they should make sure that it provides value first.

  • Great option when in cell service

Loved all the features of this app on recent moose hunt. When more maps are developed for Canada, I’ll happily upgrade to pro version.
  • Must have for serious hunters

I have been using Basemap for a while now and I cannot day enough good things about it. The level of quality in the maps is superior to anything I’ve found to be currently available. On a recent mule deer hunt I can confidently say that I would not have filled my tag without Basemap. Not only did we e-scout all our areas prior to the hunt but more importantly we used it for stalk planning. Using the highly detailed maps, we were able to place a marker where the deer was laying and then use Huntwind to plan our approach. That combination turned out to be highly effective as we were able to complete several stalks to the exact point the deer were without blowing them out. If you hunt or do anything outdoors, make the small investment. You will not regret it.

  • Lock the course line

After you’ve plotted a course line, lock it on the display to show how you are traveling relative to a direct line through the target.

This is the orienteering method, and, the aviation method. A practical application of this is when you see an object landing in a field and you wish to walk a direct line to it. Physical obstructios may require you to depart from that direct line…But you wish to return to that direct line as soon as practical because you know your target lies somewhere along that direct line.

Another example would be sighting your destination point and then plotting your direct line to that destination point. You may need to deviate left and right of the course but you can see how far you are from the original line directly from point a to point B.
