I'd give this the full 5 stars as it IS a brilliant synth, but I really can't see much of a difference between this, and the other (equally good) Audiokit Digital D1 Synth, they look identical to my laymans eyes. I just don't understand why, (assuming there ARE significant changes/improvements 'under the hood'), that they haven't just updated the existing synth?
Confusing...
p.s. Why the constant pop-up asking me to review it?

Great question! FM Player 2 is inspired by the DX7IID. While Digital D1 is inspired by D50 and Wavestation. We recently updated FM Player to have many of the features of D1, which is why they look similar. Under the hood, they're different and powerful beasts. :)Fantastic sounds

Looks like abandon ware
There was high hopes for this app but it seems like the core program has been dumped. Considering the free synth one app gives you the ability to at least save anything you play to an MP3 file, I am left wondering why the developer hasn’t implemented this here?? This is nothing more than a novelty app that the has zero use for real artists, and likely all the quotes are made up, without any ability to save what you play what is the point.Show lessMJM in Canada
Full featured and rich
This synth has tons of features (still exploring after over a year) with really rich sound synthesis. Loads of presets to work off of that range from beautiful atmospheric pads to plucky bleeps, blips, and percussion. I don’t buy apps ever, but the quality justifies the price. Still haven’t figured out midi, but recording lines off of this into ableton really expanded my experience in producing bass lines, ARPd patterns, and spacious melodies. Dig it.Show lessccr.tea
Frustrating
This crashes my BeatMaker 3 and GarageBand constantly. Or the audio just stops working. The sounds on this product are amazing but two of your programs have given me the exact same issue. Sometimes it causes my files to become corrupt so I lose entire tracks. The two apps are FM Player 2 and Digital D1. Sometimes Synthone causes problems as well but not on the same scale.Show lessArtice
Crashes
It crashes all the time. Its unusable. It would be so sick if it worked but it crashes almost every time you start playing something for more than 30 seconds or so. WHYYYYYY!!!!GalacticSunset
It just gets better
What was already an indispensable- and free!- synth has just been improved by a fine new bank of presets and added functionality. There is no excuse at all for not having this on your device, ok?Rory the Border
Lovely sounds and great functionality but AUv3 not very stable in AUM
Lovely sounds and great functionality and I would love to be able to use it live ...
... BUT it is not stable in AUM. I get frequent CPU spikes around 100% which cause dropouts. The easiest way to reproduce this is to create an empty AUM set and add FM Player.
The open the AUM keyboard, and run your finger quickly up and down the keyboard several times. If there is no CPU spike, try another preset.
I’ve tried it with the new Sounds of Izrael and Spidericemidas banks and the CPU spikes happen often with this technique.
My usual CPU usage in AUM is between 40 and 60% with several synths & FX, but when playing notes in FM Player, CPU often jumps around from about 40 down to about 18 or up to about 90ish regularly, sometimes spiking over 100 with dropouts as described above.
I’m appreciate there is a lot of hard work in this project, but I hope this can be fixed as I look forward to using it in a stable live setup but I can’t have dropouts during a live set.Show lesscraftycurate
