  • Junk

I have one halo light switch. I’m standing right beside it and this app can’t find it. Absolutely useless.
  • Don’t Buy these are worthless for the hassle.

We asked for our electrician to install a dusk to dawn Flood Light they brought us out this light. It took them 2.5 hours to install as it’s super complicated to install. After it was installed I spent about 3 days to figure out how to get it to work for dusk to dawn. That worked for awhile and now for over 6 months I have a choice either leave the dang thing on or leave it off. The app is useless as it requires you to install two lights at once but it won’t work to add the first without a group that you can’t add until you have multiple lights. Why would I want two useless lights when I’m already hating the first one. If this light didn’t cost me nearly $600 to install I would rip it off and go get a basic flood light. Hard pass don’t waste your money!

  • Sync issues

Unlike other smart switches and lights app, this one cannot sync lights current status when they’re turned on or off using wall switch. Why? It’s such a bare minimum requirement for anything smart and something that can be operated via app, voice, or manual wall switch.

This app also loses connection frequently. The app needs a lot of improvement.

  • Schedules Inconsistent

I have 5 lights all on one schedule, and this app can't even get that right. Sometimes they all follow schedule, sometimes a few stay on all day, sometimes all but one cuts on at nite, etc. No real rhyme or reason to pattern. And heaven forbid the power ever blink, then they each take on a schedule of their own. App & lights Just don't work as advertised.

  • Great idea. Awful execution.

It’s great to have a lamp dimmer for any bulb or lamp fixture, but the app rarely responds or does what it’s supposed to. Loading the app takes way too long, the UI is not intuitive, settings only save after multiple attempts, and that is if it connects to your device at all. You’re better off buying a smart bulb, I think.

  • Causes more headaches than it’s worth

The app is ridiculously buggy. I logged out and when I logged back in, the app continually crashes during the log in process. When I restart the app and finally get in, all my settings are gone and I can’t even add my devices. I have over 35 lights, adding them one by one is an absolute nightmare using this app. Wish I had never even bought into this system.

  • Needs circadian controls added

The app needs to add a way that whenever you turn the lights on via a wall switch, the lights are at a color temperature that mimics natural outdoor light color for the current time of day. With this app now, scheduling the color temperature also inevitably controls whether the lights are on or off according to the schedule. Most people don’t want their bedroom lights coming on and off based on a schedule, they want their child to be able to use a wall switch. Cree Connected Max has a nice interface for this which they are calling “Follow the Sun”. I would love to see Halo Home add this to their app. Adding the ability to use Siri Shortcuts may be another solution as Apple has already set up routines to support circadian lighting control.

  • Does Not Work

After a few days, both lights stopped working. I cannot even connect to the light with my app as it constantly searches for the lights and will not allow any kind of menu to pop up whatsoever. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and still nothing works. Terrible product. We will be returning both lights.

  • Too complicated user her face

Trying to get groups of light to adhere to a schedule is overly complicated. This apps user interface has to be rethought.
Also it should allow you to set the brightness and color temperature level based on the time of day. So even when the light is off if you throw a switch on at 7 AM it comes on it say 50% brightness and 3000 K temperature and if you turn that same light on at 10 PM at night it comes on at 50% brightness and 2700 K temperature.
Doesn’t seem that hard to me

    Developer Response

Sorry this feature is a little buried and we are working some other things to improve this but we've got you covered. Scene Transitions! Scenes allow you to set the dim level and color temp exactly how you want it. Scene Transitions allow you to dynamically fade between 2 scenes over a set amount of time. • Unreliable

I have the halo floodlight that is Bluetooth. That works fine when close enough to it. However, from the house to the backyard is to far for Bluetooth, so I bought the halo bridge. This constantly disconnects from the internet which makes it basically useless. The WiFi is close so it not a problem being too far away. I don’t have this problem with the ring which is about the same distance.
