Disappointed long time subscriber

Update: I’m still currently subscribed to the platform for the time being, but the changes that have been in the last year have greatly diluted the price I pay for membership. They no longer offer Live classes, only upload 3-4 classes a day - about 50% express 10 minute classes, closed their community Facebook group, no longer encourage communication with instructors, little to no holiday or themed classes, and instead are recycling existing content for “new” programs, capitalizing on trends like intermittent fasting, PCOS and fertility, mood and period tracking, and weight loss medicine workouts?? No one is asking for this content, we just want the community and spirit that attracted us to obé and kept us around for so long. Some instructors only have a full length class once a month, which is quite disappointing. Would love to see them adjust membership pricing without having to reach out and threaten to quit or ask for the current pricing, especially as a 6 year member, I shouldn’t be taken advantage of because I have more important things to do instead of beg for a price that more accurately reflects what I’m receiving from this service. I miss the old obé.

Absolutely love this platform - the variety of classes and schedule, on demand and live classes, the best instructors EVER, shout-outs, and the amazing community they have creative. I have been a member for almost two years and have no reason to ever stop!

Doesn’t allow you to cancel

I just received notification that my subscription will be renewed soon which I don’t want. I went through Apple to cancel the subscription and unlike EVERY OTHER subscription I have, obe doesn’t have the cancel subscription button. What is that about? I’ve just emailed them about this, I’ll see what gets done but this is truly a sad and desperate way to sucker people into “paying”. Don’t bother with app.

Sketchy business practices

Like the other reviews said, it’s hard to cancel, and requires calling during work hours. Also, they provide 0 notice that they’re about to charge you, and no invoice is provided after the charge. If you sign up, monitor closely, check your credit card statements carefully. It’s super expensive, and is in USD, so be careful - one late cancellation and it’s hundreds of USD dollars gone. There are many other fitness programs that have more aboveboard practices. Buyer beware.

I had called in to cancel last year but was told by Allison they have no record of it. And when I questioned the above business practices, they were dismissive and just said they will pass along the feedback. Hundreds of dollars gone, and absolutely no attempt by customer service to make it better. I expected more from Obe.

Impossible cancellation

There’s no option to cancel directly on the app. What app still does this in 2023. This should be illegal and is very scammy. This is screaming “taking advantage of people by making it extremely inconvenient to unsubscribe”. I got a trial with FabFitFun and I’m super dissatisfied with this process.

Bring back quarterly subscriptions

I love Obe but I hate the lack of options available for subscriptions- either almost $50 CAD or almost $300 CAD a year, no quarterly options? Think of your customers outside of the US please!

The exchange rate sucks. I won’t be re-signing up because monthly is a terrible deal, and annual is like three bills. I can’t justify the value and money I’d have to spend to keep my subscription active.

Horrible cancelation policy

No simple way to cancel. Only way to cancel is by calling in during work hours. It has taken me months of calling and trying to get ahold of someone to cancel. In the meantime they keep taking my money. Feels like a shady scam at this point.

Great Programs, Frustrating App

It seems many of the reviews share this sentiment. The same problems from years ago still exist today - The filtering is cumbersome, the class titles are challenging to decipher, and the way obé works on the iPAD is a complete mess.

The app is sometimes oriented to a screen type that is vertical or horizontal, and critical parts of text is cut off, no amount of turning my screen will reorient it. It’s especially bad in the programs - the opening page of the program shares all kinds of useful information. At least I think it does. But I usually can only read a few words from each line. Seeing “-ding is all you need for this quick work out. Only 1-“ before it is cut off by the strange locked in-app orientation does not help me to choose.

Please, please fix this. So far I have put up with it, but the deeper I get into the app the less I like putting up with it.

Greatest programming

I really enjoy Obé. The amount of variety and choice in the workouts is fantastic. The different lengths of the workouts is great too. When life gets busy I can still squeeze in a 10 minute workout. If I want to make it really count I do a hiit class. If it’s been a stressful week there’s yoga. Usually there is really good instruction to help you maintain the correct form regardless of the exercise type.

Decent classes but…

Okay, first the positives. Just about all the instructors are either verified CPTs or are yogis with extensive training. There aren’t many other platforms that take trainer verifications seriously. You’re also encouraged to reach out to the trainers (and in particular if you have Instagram).

Now the bad news: Some of the instructors don’t understand that wearing anything but workout gear on camera presents a needless distraction and looks unprofessional. The breaking point for me was the night that I caught one of instructors who I thought I could trust both dressed AND acting as Blake from Gossip Girl without giving me an acceptable reason for why until she broke my trust for good. Thanks for nothing, Melody.

I don’t know if costumes have been banned since then, but I haven’t been told such…and it doesn’t help that Mental Health Awareness Month is treated as a joke. I personally will never go back, but there’s enough to recommend it for everyone else.

Awesome classes but…

I just signed up for the program today and took a barre class. It was awesome! I’m going to be sore tomorrow in a good way. The instructor was great and the time flew by.

The issue I’m facing is with technology. I have Rokus, so I downloaded the Obé Viewer app and cast the class from my iPhone. I later went down to my workout room to get it all set up on that Roku as well. However, I could not find the Obé Viewer channel. I assumed it was because the Roku was older than the one I used earlier, so I bought a new Roku and got it all set up. However, still couldn’t find the Obé Viewer app. I went back to the TV I used earlier in the day, and the Obé Viewer app had disappeared from that device as well, and searching for it now returned zero results.

I really liked the class, but I don’t have confidence in their technical team. I’ve never had this situation before on my Rokus, so it does seem to be an application issue. I’m hoping the app is back tomorrow so I can continue with my subscription with Obé Fitness.
