Best Audio Bible!

This app is worth every penny and then some! It has helped me absorb more Scripture and it has been with me through some very hard moments this year. Both my husband and my mom are cancer patients and I don’t always have the time to read my Bible with all the appointments and hospitalizations. But I can ALWAYS listen and I do.

It has also helped my husband and I stay in the Scriptures together when he doesn’t have the strength to even hold his Bible. Chemo affects your whole body and sometimes his eyes are weak and blurry. But Dwell has been such a blessing for both of us because he still needs the Word and this app allows that to happen.

We love all the curated playlists, the background music options (especially at Christmastime!), and being Anglicans, we enjoy following along with the Daily Office readings through this app. I could go on and on, but this app is WORTH IT. You can get free audio versions elsewhere but they don’t compare to Dwell. They don’t even come close!

Deceptive Advertising

If I could give this app or rather the developers negative five stars, I would I signed up for a seven day trial of this app and was told that after the seven day trials up, I would be charged 799 a month. Every time I download an app, I automatically go into the subscription under settings and cancel the app just so I won’t be charged. This is how I keep track of charges. And then if I decide that I want to keep the app, I will go back in to settings and restart the subscription. This time I was charged $7.99 even after canceling the subscription and despite the advertisement saying that I had a seven day trial, I requested a refund from Apple and they refused. This is supposed to be a Christian app and it was advertised by a preacher and what’s really shocking is that you all are out here taking people’s money deceptively it’s not about the money, the $7.99 is the issue. It’s the principle of how you all are tricking people! This is harmful to people who already have a bad view of the Christian church. I will never use this app again. I am deleting it off my phone and I will stick to my holy Bible app which has much much better devotionals anyway.

That said, their payment system is automated so if you were charged, that would be because it wasn't appropriately cancelled. This is a blessing

I love this app. I love listening to it in the morning and I love listening to it while I’m in my car and I love listening to it in the evening. This really encourages me to read my Bible and to listen to it also. It has many different voices that you can hear people read the Bible from. Sometimes I want to hear from different voices. It depends on the mood and feeling. Some of them are relaxing some of my energetic and some of them have accents which I love also. There is so much to love about this app. It is truly making me be in the word of God much more often than before. I love to read my Bible and with this app you can do that, but sometimes I want to listen to the Bible also, and sometimes I want to listen and follow along. I am still discovering about this app. But I do love and I mean I love this app. I will be a subscriber for life. If you don’t have this app, you need to get it. I’m really serious. Have a blessed day.

Lacks basic functionality

I purchased this thinking it would allow me way more options to customize plans to listen to the Bible but when I purchased and downloaded, there was no customizable plan. First issue is you can’t actually go back a book if you happened to get distracted and need to go back. You have to back out, go to the books, remember what book you were on and select that book. The “back” function only goes back a verse but does not navigate between books. It’s either pick the random selection they pick for you or you just pick and read a book without any traceability on where you’re at or how long it will take. my free Holy Bible app lets me easily see where I’m at and I can swipe to go back a book, or I can also go into a view and see all of the books without having to back out of what I’m actually listening to. For a paid app it should at least let you select a period I want to listen to a range of books or let me set a daily amount and tell me how long it’s going to take and let me save that plan. Also, many typos. It states “God” when it should be “good”, which is really confusing when you’re listening. The app should definitely not be dispelling God’s word.

I'm happy to help. Let me see if I can answer your concerns: 1. You cannot create custom plans inside Dwell. You can create playlists, though. We have a lot of plans available though that are all available for subscribers. You can find them by clicking "Explore" at the bottom of your screen - and then looking at plans. 2. You are correct, you cannot go back an entire book by using the buttons in the player. What you CAN do (so you don't have to back out) is click the verse reference in your player. That will open up a tab with all books of the Bible that you can click and change on the fly. 3. If you want to listen to a selection - use the search feature. Click "Search" at the bottom of your screen and then type in what you'd like to hear. You will need to type the entire reference (no abbreviations) and be sure it's spelled correctly. 4. As far as typos, our text is directly imported from the copyrighted version. If you can give me the verse references where you are seeing an issue we can definitely go in and change it manually.

I love it

I’m on day one of my 7 day free trial and I might have to make room in my budget for a yearly subscription… like 50$ or something. I fell asleep listening to psalms being read and feel rested. It’s also Sunday and because I’m an amputee I don’t make it to church so I can listen to the bible being read to me and listen to the daily devotional. So far so good.

Love the variety, love the voices

Dwell has become a daily fixture in my times with the Lord. I regularly listen to the Devotional, Lectio Divina and the Breath Prayers.

I appreciate the consistency of style, the voices and the words spoken. I find each of the elements to be a useful way of recentering my heart upon the Lord and helpful in stimulating further prayer and worship.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dwell for those people seeking to step into closer union with the Lord.
