  • Great workouts but glitchy

Love the workouts and the progressions. If you can’t do a certain amount of reps just do a couple less and if it’s too easy then do a couple more. Starting the workout through the app is glitchy though so I recommend just looking it over while you workout, then start the workout afterwards so you can click through the questions without it glitching. I’m a lifetime subscriber so I really hope you guys make improvements. Also would be nice to go back and look at the workouts that we complete.

  • This app does not work

The workouts seem really good, but the app doesn’t work. Hence it is useless
  • Great app

I have been signed up to this since it was Calisthenics Academy and have only just got round to actually starting it. From what I have come across so far is great and looking forward now to progressing. One thing I would like to say that if there is an issue the customer service is brilliant. It’s so nice to know there is somebody there for you.

  • So far so great!

This is probably the first I have ever come to review an app without being asked to.

So far I am loving this app! It’s a real workout but something about it is so fun that I actually wake up excited at 5am to see what’s in store for the day, and that’s BEFORE caffeine.

Frankly, that alone is enough for me to rate it 5 stars. I really want to be strong and flexible and master my body so I’m not falling all the time and in little to no pain when I’m older. But regular strength training, while fun at times, wasn’t fun enough for me to stay consistent. This is.

But besides that, I love the flexibility of the app. If I wake up at 4:45, I can add time to the workout. If I want a longer workout, it’s a couple of clicks away! It’s also customized to my skill level so each workout is challenging but never makes me worried that I’m injuring myself.

I definitely recommend at least giving it a try (that means a few workouts, not just downloading the app and forgetting about it like I did at first). It’s great!

  • Bad app

This app is really bad! I tried to do my first workout but every time I started the strength workout, the workout was not moving forward. I needed to stop the workout and start again with a new workout 3 times. Then I gave up. I will try again tomorrow and if i don’t find a way, I will cancel my subscription. That’s so bad because I was really excite by this program!

  • Buggy as hell, and incomplete.

I want to like this app. I think its intentions are good. But it needs SERIOUS WORK in order to function properly, much less compete against other workout apps. There are entire moves that have no description or video on how to perform them. If I didn't have a basic gymnastics background from CrossFit (I was/am hoping this app could supplement that training), I would be utterly lost on some of the moves. As it is, from time to time I just have to make my best guess.

    This app needs:
*To have its bugs squashed (it crashes regularly)
*To have its database updated (no data or instructions for moves it asks you to perform)
*To be able to move BACKWARDS in a workout (if you accidentally mark a move as being done, you can’t go back and correct or look at it, and at times I’ve had to restart entire workouts and almost just quit in frustration).

I think that if these issues can be corrected, this could be a really good app. Without some much needed TLC, though, I will be cancelling my 60 day trial and getting my money back.

  • Love this app

I’m 12 and I’m pretty active. I play hockey, lacrosse, cross country running. During quarantine I’ve been have a lot of trouble staying strong as my family doesn’t have any gym equipment . I bought this app and I LOVE it. I’ve been doing it everyday along with going for runs and I have gotten so much stronger and well as learned some cool things such as a handstand. I’m also seeing a six pack start to form! I love this app because I can choose how long the workout is, depending on what I have time for. The think thing I would add is a button that says “can’t do that” or “not strong enough yet”.

  • Great app

It’s a great app! The only thing is that every once in a while it will freeze. But it has motivated me to work out more. I am a gymnast so I come from long hours (15 hours a week) and it has been great for ideas and things.
  • Don’t miss this opportunity!

TMA’s philosophy is simple: they want to put a progressive calisthenics training curriculum in the hands of everyday people. And I’m telling you — it’s working. Their app is simple and visually stimulating. They lay out a massive library of calisthenics maneuvers, and then map out a path for you to get there, progression by progression. And move by move, even set by set, your progress bar increases, showing how you are molding your body to reach insane levels of fitness. And the best thing is this: it gives you the designed, purposeful feeling of hiring a professional trainer at a fraction of the cost. I have never been motivated to workout in a gym before, but now I look forward to it. To prove it to you, here is some of my story:

I was a runner for years. I had built my body around running, always trying to improve myself. In spite of my efforts, however, I severely injured my Achilles’ tendon a couple of years ago.
After that, I couldn’t run without the tendon flaring up. So, I began to look at alternatives for exercise. I have always held a dream of having a lean, strong build (who hasn’t, right?), but lifting weights is something I personally despise. I had looked into calisthenics before, but I never could figure out how to progress from the basics (e.g. pushups and bodyweight squats) to the more advanced, useful moves (e.g. one-arm pushups, pistol squats). A trainer wasn’t an option for me, simply from a monetary standpoint.

In the summer of 2019, I began to search online for calisthenics programs — something cheap and simple. I stumbled onto The Movement Athlete and after browsing their website, decided to give their app a go. It wasn’t long before I had purchased a full membership.

As I said, I’m a runner. I want to feel the wind on my face and to conquer the steep hills. But TMA has helped me mold my mind and body to love calisthenics as well. It’s easy to stay motivated once you get going, because the app not only gives you progress meters, but it also allows you to check ahead, looking at moves that you had always compartmentalized off as the realm of Olympic athletes. This is empowering, because TMA has put together a step-by-step guide to reach these lofty challenges. In other words, TMA is a map, guiding you to perform insane feats of human strength. Don’t miss it!

  • Fantastic and ingenious!

I’m a 61 year old doctor, marathoner, horseman.
I have used a private fitness coach for years for my cross training.
This program is more well rounded and considerate of my safety and injury prevention than my gym coach or my Pilates instructor. And it has gotten me in to my fittest, and most ripped condition in my whole life, which I’m especially happy to have achieved at my advanced age!
