Description of Ting Sensor

Ting helps prevent electrical fires to keep your home and family safe. While smoke detectors only tell you that a fire is occurring, Ting monitors the electricity in your home 30 million times every second to detect small, micro-arcs that can lead to electrical fires. If a hazard is detected, the Ting Support team will coordinate a licensed electrician to visit your home to find and fix the hazard, and you receive up to $1,000 from Ting to cover the costs of the repair! Beyond providing peace of mind for fire safety, Ting provides detailed analysis of your home’s power, and notifications of power outages, internet outages, and power surges that can damage your sensitive, electronic devices. Over time, Ting’s machine learning algorithms will also provide important notifications on the performance of key appliances like your HVAC. Within a few minutes of opening the box, you’ll have a fitness tracker for your home protecting what matters most!

  • Salvation For Your House and Neighbors’ Houses

Ting detected a power deficiency coming into my house that was a potential fire hazard to not only my house but a total of four houses on our transformer. We all were experiencing small brownouts and surges over about a two week period but none of us realized we were all having such incidents. Recently, our power company had replaced our transformer after the previous one had blown during a hurricane. When the new transformer was installed, it was calibrated (I guess that’s the proper term) incorrectly and all of our houses were at risk. But thankfully, I had Ting and they gave me the talking points to alert our power provider to the concern and they weee able to come out and repair same day.

Additionally, we temporarily lost power but we were able to prepare beforehand because I was able to alert all my neighbors before we lost power. However, if we had not had the monitoring of Ting, our outage would have been without notice and no telling how long it would have last and the damage that would have been endured!!

Therefore, I sing the praises of Ting for their lifesaving technology!!

  • Works Great

Not long after we started using a Ting sensor in our home we had a whole house generator installed and they changed out our entire electrical panel for a new panel with an integrated automatic transfer switch. Tons of wiring was done and having the Ting sensor eased any of our concern that there were any issues from this major electrical project. Also we love the notifications that the Ting sends out since we travel frequently. The Ting tells us if the power is out and then amazingly it even sends a notice that the power is on and it is a backup system. Then sends a notice when the utility power is back on. The fact that it can determine the difference in power sources tells me that it is very sophisticated. Note: Full disclosure here, I am a bit upset with my Ins company right now, my latest annual invoice is 24% higher than last year!!!! I was hoping having the Ting would decrease my cost Not add to my Ins cost! Maybe they are recouping the Ting cost?

  • Every home should have one!

A few weeks ago Ting notified me that there was a potential fire hazard in my house that needed immediate attention. I got in touch with fire safety team and they went right to work to find the problem. Since I had already resolved a problem in my house, there were fewer steps to take to resolve this one. It turned out to be a surge protector that was no longer protecting against surges! Normally, you can see if a protector doesn't work when the light goes out, but because this protector was blocked from view, I never noticed it! Thank goodness they did. It may seem like a minor thing, but as we know, it could have become something costly or even dangerous. My home is very important to me and I'm so glad that Ting thinks so, too!!
