  • The Solis App works fine for me

Having just received an in-app prompt to update to the latest version, this took me to the App Store to download it. I took a quick look at the reviews and based on my experience I’m very surprised at the number of negative reviews there are.

I’ve had solar and the Solis app since February 2023 and it has always worked fine for me. There is a little lag in the data as it takes time to poll, but otherwise the data is accurate and everything totals up. This is confirmed by my geo Home app which shows me real time data from my smart meter and it confirms what I’m seeing in the Solis app. I can control and make changes to my data and inverter quite straightforwardly.

Since installing the App Solis have enabled my access to control my inverter to charge my batteries at night from low rate grid electricity and this also works fine allowing me to enable grid charging when a cloudy day is forecast.

So all in all I’m very happy, I sympathise with the many out there who seem to be having problems, but that really does not reflect my own experience.

  • Gets worse with each update

This app looks good and if it showed the right numbers it would be very useful. The only data that seems to be reasonably reliable is the figure for the amount of power generated in a day. All other figures seem to be overstated significantly when looking at the real time graphic display. The old Solis Home app shows different figures again from the Solis Cloud display. This makes it difficult to decide when to switch on devices such as washing machine or dish washer etc to take advantage of “free” solar energy. I’m fed up with complaining about this so come on Solis your challenge is to get it to work reliably - please sort this out, surely it can’t be that hard can it ?????

  • No complaints here 👍🏼

Don’t know why there are so many bad reviews. App. only shows a “snapshot” in time of usage etc. Many seem to think it is real-time but it’s not. If you take this app. for what it is I think it’s just fine. I can use it to remotely program my inverter to charge/discharge my batteries from the grid when necessary. It might be a bit fiddly for some people’s liking but there’s a lot of information to be had which is not necessarily easy to display in a concise manner.
I personally use this app several times a day. If I need to see stuff in real-time I go to the display on the inverter, simples 👍🏼

  • The app seems to be getting worse

The app wasn’t anywhere near perfect before the May 2023 update but it has now got even worse. The daily Consumption figure is now fixed at 1kWh (our usual is 8kWh), what’s worse is it has applied this retrospectively to all data before the update - useless! The Generation data has lost the breakdown of how much went to battery and how much was used in the house, even more useless. Finally, from a user-interface point of view, it used to show you a percentage of peak performance of your relay - this is now stuck at 0.01% even in glorious sunshine. It also used to show you the rough amount of battery charge and solar performance of your relay on the home page via a circle round each category (Total Yield, Total Charge, Today to Grid, Today Consumption). This was also lost on the latest update and I cannot fathom why. I hope the big fixes were worth it because I feel we’ve taken a step to 5yrs ago with everything else. The app has gone from rough but useable to unsteady and unreliable. Not a great improvement.

  • Needs work but okay for what it does

Overall I never expected to be able to rely on the tariff figures so I use them only as a general indication of what is happening.
The number of glitches is getting fewer with each update and I am happy with being able to keep an eye on the general performance of the PV panels and batteries.
What I would most like is what was implied by the salespeople would be a basic part of the installation, that is the ability to control when the batteries charge and discharge. I have to rely on a very helpful guy at Solis to make these adjustments for me which seems to be putting too much on him to be expected to pander to my whims!
Looking forward to seeing greater functionality in future.

  • Yeah well

Having a lot of trouble connecting to my smart phone. Following all instructions but still won’t connect. Thought it would be easier
  • Month power graph

Day power generate don’t match with the description on the day power description on the months power graphics. A total mismatch is happening to me. One day graphic shows 28 Kw and this same day on the Month power over overview shows 0 Kw, I just don’t get it.
    Please check this giant bug.
    Thank you.
  • Awful. Written in Chinese

Tried to change the password but error messages are in Chinese. No idea what the problem is, just gave up after many attempts.
  • Few more steps needed…..

I am writing this critical review of your app (and solar inverter) with a heavy heart. As a loyal customer, I was hoping for a more positive experience, but unfortunately, I have been left disappointed with some aspects of your app & products.

Firstly, the 5-minute update frequency is something that I find quite inadequate. As mentioned by another reviewer, this frequency is not ideal, and it leads to inaccurate readings of the performance of the solar inverter. I feel that this is a significant issue that needs to be addressed urgently.

Secondly, the inability to download all data into a spreadsheet is a severe limitation for users who are looking to analyze their solar power production. While your application provides some basic functionality, it falls short of expectations. I strongly believe that providing the ability to download all data into a spreadsheet would be a huge improvement and benefit to your customers.

Thirdly, I find it concerning that the connected equipment must be switched off and on during production to see a performance improvement of about 1 KW. This is a considerable drop in performance and is something that should not be occurring with a high-quality solar inverter product.

While I do not think your application is terrible, there is a lot of room for improvement. The user interface is not as intuitive as it could be, and some of the features could use a bit more work, e.g. the layout is confusing .

However, my biggest concern is that I am not confident that my feedback will be acknowledged and acted on by anyone from Solis, and it makes me hesitant to continue using your products in the future.

In conclusion, I hope that you take this feedback seriously and work towards improving your products to provide a better user experience. Your customers deserve the best, and I believe that with some significant improvements, you can continue to be a leading provider of solar inverter products.

  • Meh

The app has every time zone for Australia except Sydney - Australia’s largest city. And you have to manually switch it to Daylight Savings. Surely there are time zone widgets that can easily be incorporated.
