Constant “upgrades”!

It was fine a year or more ago. Stop the constant meet to “upgrade”.

Horrible Check In Process (twice)

I have used this app for roughly a dozen-ish haircuts. The check in process is horrible. For the first bad experience, I arrived to the store, checked in, and a customer that was after me in the queue, that didn’t use the app, received the next available chair because his wife finessed him a spot in the next available seat, then another customer walked in that used the app before me and got the next spot. I just walked out of the store at that point.

The next time, I walk in and my name isn’t on the board after I just entered the queue 15 minutes prior? Hm. There are two workers available, one lady is on the phone with a customer at the counter, another customer walks in as I’m trying to find out why my name isn’t on the board, gets seated with the free lady, and the lady on the phone tells me it’s going to be 30 minutes?!? Why? Because she was saving a seat for that customer on the phone who called in?!?The appointment system is jacked up. Either have timed appointment slots for customers, or don’t use the app at all and use a first-come-first serve method. There is no reason why a person that checks into the app 1 minute before you, should be able to arrive to the location 15 minutes later than you and get the next available slot, making you wait another 30 minutes.

What’s wrong with this app? So many things…

I love Sports Clips. They’re great. I loved the old app. I hate this app. It only seems to work half the time. I’ve deleted the app from my phone and reloaded it at least two or three times. Unless you turn on location services so that it can track you 100% of the time it never seems to be able to locate nearby stores. There’s no obvious place to sign in on the account page. The visuals and the writing are small and difficult to read. And I’m just getting started… Who designed this thing? Why change the app? The old one worked perfectly well. Even the employees at the Sports Clips I’ve been going to for the last eight years absolutely hate the new app and have complained constantly about it. If I were the CEO of Sport Clips, I’d demand a refund.

Timing is off

My first time using the updated app was not positive. The estimated wait time fluctuates significantly. When the clock was at 10 minutes until my turn I left and drove to the store. When I got there it said 2 minutes. Not moments later the “Wait List” said to sit tight for another 23 minutes.

I will be reviewing comments on this going forward. If not fixed I don’t think I will return even if my haircut and hair stylist is outstanding.

Thank you.
Jason.

Another worthless update

Once again, some schmuck has just GOT to put his or her personal stamp on an app that was working just fine for YEARS, and in the process, make it a thousand times worse than it was before. Now the app doesn’t automatically bring up Apple passwords, now the app requires an email login (because of course it does; why stop at collecting phone numbers when you can data harvest email addresses!), now the app shows LESS local wait times than ever before. Absolutely ridiculous.

It’s really pitiful that companies do this. They literally have zero idea what customers want, nor do they care. Sports Clips apparently did all of this in an endeavor to get our email addresses, but they’ll pretend like the app update is for some big improvement for us even as they turn a blind eye to the “scores” (see what I did there?) of users unhappy with the changes. Well, I guess it’s back to being a walk-in customer or finding another place to have my haircut, because a company more invested in Big Data than its own loyal patrons doesn’t deserve my business.

Update is Frustrating

After the app update, I needed to re-enter my credentials for the 1st time since I registered. That took multiple guesses, but got in just as I was about to reset the password.
I needed to create appointments for my 3 kids. I could not get past 1 or 2 kids when the screen would just refresh. I’m not a slow typer. It’s just their name and stylist selection. Takes seconds but I could not get through it without it resetting the screen and losing what I input. I finally resorted to inputting 1 at a time for 3 separate appts for 1 stylist. After the 1st one I just got the spinning circle before I quit after a minute of watching it and keeping my phone from going to sleep. Re-opened and went through the other 2 appointments one at a time.
There is no Haircut Tracker or Wait List. I had no way of knowing if the 1st kid’s appt ever went through. I called the store and they said it hadn’t but when I went to re-create it I got an error that he was already signed in. I called back and they finally found him, but at this point I had no way of knowing where he stood in line or what our estimated time of arrival should be. They said he was 2nd so we booked it over immediately.
This whole process took way too long and is no longer convenient at this point. I will try back in a couple of weeks when it’s time to return. I’m hopeful for some updates.

App functionality extremely limited

App doesn’t show checked in status
Just a message that says user already checked in. There is no way to see an updated wait time in the app. Wait times can change drastically on the fly. But now I can see it. Nor can I see my place in line. All of this is gone. Leave the app and return and it shows you a different location. Location settings are always or when using app. No difference when I change location settings. It also used to check you in upon arrival. No more. Asked to be checked online. Store display waitlist says I haven’t arrived. So I check myself in and it takes a while before it is reflected. The only thing I can do is blindly check in with the app. And get an initial wait time. I can’t even cancel the check in. Please fix it. Go back to the previous app. It was much much better. Do people that create apps even use them in real life? So they test the app before pushing them out?

Recent Update Problematic

Although the recent update is graphically pleasing, it does provide a better user experience. However, the backend system is buggy. Multiple connection issues joining a waitlist, doesn’t actually join. It does on the backend, but doesn’t show it on the interface after multiple attempts of trying to join the waitlistcontinually receive an error that says user has already checked in however, I have no way of seeing my check in status where I’m at in line it. It reverts back to the initial home screen to reattempt joining waitlist. I had to use the webinar pace to actually join a waitlist. I’m not sure that the mobile application communicates the same way that a web interface does.

Wait times inaccurate

Even with the updated app, the wait times fluctuate like crazy. It will say 90 minutes then in like 10 minutes it will say 20 minutes. You show up at the store and their screen says closer to the original estimate. It’s enough to drive a person up a wall. When you request the stylist you want, you hate to lose the spot in the queue. It just is frustrating. I have seen many upset customers while waiting. I like the idea of putting your name in to see how long the wait is especially since they don’t take reservations but the timing is rarely correct. Unfortunate. Otherwise I love the haircuts I get.

App issues

As someone who does app dev and project management for a living, I'm trying to be understanding but this latest update is in a word, painful. The UI consistently defaults to a totally different state rather than current location, sign in is not consistent and frequently provides time out messages rather than signing in, same with store selection not showing any wait times or current stylists available and inconsistent app navigation, frequently looping back to a sign in screen when trying to advance to the next step to register online. This app is either very beta, poorly QA'd, or the backend is poorly architecturally designed to handle basic functionality. Hope we see some significant updates and improvement soon, as this very negatively impacts your customer experience.
