  • Unable to speak to a real person

Although Hipcamp promises 24/7 Customer Service, that is only through an automated bot. I have been trying to get through to a real person for three days now. I booked a site for five nights which was not at all as described. I reached out to the host and he agreed to give me a refund for four of the nights. It is almost 3 weeks later, and I am still waiting for my refund even though, in their policy, it states you will have your refund within 10 business days. I emailed someone three days ago and I still have not received a response. This is my first time using Hipcamp and I do not think I will use it again. The only way I would use it is if I was able to view the site in person first. As far as the app, it is user-friendly. However, the host can post pictures that do not show the real campsite. I don’t find the prices any cheaper than the campsites I get through State and National Parks. I ended up finding campsites through the national Forest Service for much cheaper and they were much nicer and larger than the campsite I had booked through Hipcamp. At a fraction of the cost.

  • Wonderful

No cell but who needs it camping! They have good WiFi though! Great large and privates tent sites. Lovely and super helpful hosts!
  • Support will ignore you

Some camping sites require the host to approve your reservation, however the app doesn’t tell you. I booked one and the host didn’t approve me till late at night, at which point I couldn’t drive there so I told the host which then apologized and gave me a refund. I received a partial refund, but Hipcamp didn’t refund their fees. I contacted support and they said there’s nothing they could do at first. Contacted them again and they stopped answering. So far I’ve opened 3 tickets and nobody has answered me. Don’t trust this company anymore!!

  • Find the perfect getaway

Love hipcamp, I can always find a great place to stay almost anywhere I want to go with hipcamp. I have found some of the best spots I’ve stayed at using hipcamp. I’ve had sites with groups and some where I didn’t see another person the entire time I was there. Something for everyone

    Really neat sites .
  • Completely Unreliable and Unresponsive Service

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience using Hipcamp. Despite having a confirmed booking, upon arrival at the campground, there was no reservation under my name. This not only disrupted our travel plans but also caused significant distress, especially since I had children with me. What made the experience even worse was Hipcamp’s customer service, which was both slow and frustratingly indifferent to our predicament. Their lack of timely and effective communication forced us to undertake a pointless 3-hour return drive home. I would caution potential users about relying on this service, as it completely failed in reliability and customer support.

This version communicates a stronger sense of dissatisfaction and urgency about the issues you faced.

  • “Best trip ever”

That’s a quote from my wife for whom this was a surprise trip. We stayed at Camelot and friends for a night while on the way east. It looked like it would be an amazing adventure with the menagerie that Mickey described on Hipcamp, but he made it even better in person.
Mickey met us on arrival and gave us a tour, introducing us to all of the animals. There were so many adorable piglets, Nigerian dwarf goats and donkeys you just have to see to believe. The Emus were so impressive as were all the doves and homing pigeons, horses, Texas longhorns, pea fowl and chicks, chickens and turkeys, a sheep, a llama and even a camel! Oh, and a pile of Frenchies rounded things out.
He was a wealth of information about animal husbandry and a pretty good example of human husbandry himself, if that’s a thing. He is just an all around good guy, doing good things as much as he can.
The campsite was level, had water and power and there was no road noise during sleeping hours. But remember, this is a farm with all of the requisite animal noises- cooing doves, squealing piglets, braying donkeys and crowing roosters. I loved it!
Don’t hesitate. This is practically a destination camp all by itself. Totally worth it and then some.

  • River Run - our family review

The grass is lush, the sites large, the amenities clean with flushing toilets, and the showers are amazing!! The camp kitchen we only used for washing dishes, however, it looks like a great space for larger get togethers. We took a fire pit and brought our wood from just up the road. The campsite was quiet, and we were all able to destress and relax! Thank you to Michelle and others who keep this campground amazing.
We are a family of 5 from 70yrs to 21 yrs, we had swags and tents and found the site ample to spread out. Thank you for having us.
