Additional functionality would be nice

Would be nice if the workouts included a warm-up
And if the sets progressed in intensity as you move through the workout, so that you start with a lower weight warm up set and work up to the max weight

Not yet a ‘fitness’ app

I’d give this app 3.5 stars if that were an option. It’s not too bad at designing workouts that address an array of muscle groups and that build from week to week. There are some bugs, though. It does not seem to cross-connect exercises very well. If I tell it that I can only do a dumbbell shoulder press at 20 lb each arm, it shouldn’t then propose a barbell shoulder press at 135 lb.

That’s not my biggest concern, though. For an app that is ostensibly for the purpose of fitness training, it is clearly lacking. This is a narrowly capable body-building app for now, which is not what I want. It has no warm-up or stretch exercises; it just launches you into weight lifting from the moment you press start. More importantly, it is completely silent on cardiac health, which is at the core of fitness. There is no opportunity to propose or monitor exercises related to cardiac health, and no heart rate targets.

On a slightly different subject, there’s little to nothing in the way of stability and balance training. That’s a big part of health for older people in particular.

Overall, the AI tools do an ‘okay’ job of mapping workouts for the goal of strength and bodybuilding. I know that lots of people have those as their sole goal, but if fitness is your goal, FitnessAI does not have you covered.

Scam

It said 3 day free trial but they charge me right away. I report it to apple for refund. 👎

Good App, but don’t try and get support for it

The app itself works well for an AI but does at times make questionable choices, like having a hard time balancing too short rest periods with too long rest periods or making very minimal increases on weight despite the last time being way over the suggested target weight. Also if you want to know what the “adaptive” program is, you can’t get a hold of anyone to tell you. The contact button doesn’t work and the support email they gave me through Instagram DM was bounced back. Sent them another DM and nothing. Do not expect to speak to anyone who knows how the app works if you have any questions. In hindsight I wouldn’t have spent $100 for a year membership and likely would have chose a different AI app. However it also isn’t terrible so I won’t give it one star.

Good app, but needs to evolve

I’ve used the app for quite a bit now and believe it is a good tool to organize your workout and manage your recommended exercise routine, reps, and weight. Really like the feature that identifies your location and adjusts your exercises based upon available equipment at that location. Evolution is recommended. I get frequent repeats of same exercise for a muscle group that I would prefer to see greater variation of exercises one day to the next. App needs to add exercises. I’ve discovered excellent landmine exercises that are not available in the exercise selection lists. I wish there was a way to manually add your newly discovered or created exercise to a list so you can do the exercise, get it logged and get it into the algorithm for mapping your exercise history with the new exercise. Then, the app host can ‘see’ the manually created new exercise and evaluate if they want to add it to their app as an optional exercise for others to follow. I really like the animations to view proper position, movement, and lifting technique. Edits to recommended exercises within their available list during your workout is easy and logical to do.

Almost perfect!

I have been using this app for going on my 4th YEAR! Yes, I have been using this app for a long time. It helps me track workouts, it helps me make gains and cuts, it reminds me to hit the gym when I’m feeling lazy. But I love it. That isn’t to say it’s been perfect. I’ve had issues with it not syncing to Apple Health and therefore not tracking an exercise for the day. Frustrating to my OCD. Somehow it got stuck on never Increasing my weight or reps, so I had to manually start changing it each week and some weeks I’d be stagnant. I eventually had to delete and reinstall to get it fixed, but it lost all my premade workout routines. Again frustrating. HOWEVER, this app has everything you need to make great gains. The AI can setup a routine for you each time or you can make your own routine and stick to it each week. It rates you in the exercise to how others are progressing to push you to get stronger and push harder. I love that the interface is easy to use and see and follow. And the best part, at the end of every workout I can rate how I did. 1-5 stars and then take a “sweaty selfie” to show my work. I make a face to exemplify how my workout went. (Developers) I wouldnt mind a quick cooldown/ stretching routine added to the end of every workout to help lower my heart rate and remind me to stretch the muscles I just destroyed. Excellent app, keep up the good work!

Unstable app

Without using any of its ‘AI’ features. This app has so many problems.
1. Even if you finish your workout and if you sync this app with apple fitness, then good luck with Fitness AI screwing up your health states. Sometimes the app won’t finish the workout even after ending the exercise session.
2. Sometimes the session will be submitted multiple times to apple which means your move and exercise rings are submitted multiple times.
3. That’s not all even if you kill the app but apple watch version is running and if you try to kill that, the watch will submit another session to apple fitness.
4. The contact us in the app button doesn’t even click.

Honestly one of the best apps to use for keeping track and trying to maximise efficiency.

Only slight problem I personally have is the lack of forearm workouts. And other minor things like different variants of specific workouts and alternatives.

Other than that, the best 😎
