Great app. But you gotta pay to press done on Apple Watch; not so great

Thanks for the feedback! Since we offer most the app for free, we have to offer a premium subscription for extras such as Apple Watch app so that we can afford to keep our engineers who are further developing this app for everyone, hopefully you understand! 🙏

Exactly what I was looking for

I’ve been on a hunt for an app like flex for a while. As a newbie in the gym, I feel so much better using flex as a guide for what to do and how to do it. It’s so easy to use, I love how customizable everything is. The price is very reasonable in my opinion also, highly recommend!

5 Stars!

Really great app. Makes gym so much easier and more enjoyable. Really easy to use with many useful features and a really clean UI.

Could be great, but you’re on your own…

I’m not new to AI generated workouts - since I started working with my trainer a few months ago, I’ve been looking for a decent workout tracker that could replace VMaxFit on my Apple Watch and when I found this one, I thought I’d (finally) struck it lucky.

The app itself is pretty great - the interface is clean & nice to use and it really encourages the community aspect. However, it sometimes lacks some intuitiveness - for instance, you can see your best with each exercise you’ve recorded inside it on the Stats tab but expanding an exercise here only shows you how your reps, weight and 1RM have increased, plus how you rank against other people on the app whom have tracked the same exercise. If you want to view the history of a particular workout, you can access this by tapping on the circle which appears around the date of each workout on the Workout tab but I only found this out by accident (after spending some time hunting for it). It’s not explained during the brief tour of the app you’re given when you first launch it.

There’s no support documentation for it - inside the app, or on the website. This has been frustrating for me because my trainer and I use progressive overload in my current routine and increase the weight of each exercise when I reach the upper-end of the reps for each exercise. While you can specify weight or reps for the auto-progression calculator, I have been able to figure out neither option as being correct for tracking this - despite trying it on both over numerous workouts. I raised this via the app’s support a couple of weeks ago, asking for it to be clarified, but no one has responded to this (as yet).

The Watch app can also be unreliable. I’ve noticed it, on multiple occasions, failing to correctly track my heart rate (displaying — instead) and the last workout the app tracked only recorded around 20 minutes, messing up the stats for the rest of the day. The app frequently breaks it’s connection with my iPhone when a workout is running (the iPhone app also has a tendency to bug out and ‘forget’ you’re recording a workout; the only saviour here being the Dynamic Island on my iPhone + the Live Activity which appears on the Lock Screen/around the Island which has returned me to the workout when this happens) returning to it’s default screen (where you’re advised to start a new workout on your phone) and the refresh button that’s there is ineffective.

I hope this will improve, in time, but it’s most disappointing that I’ve reached out to the developers via the built-in support feature with various questions and haven’t received an acknowledgement. As an IT guy, that doesn’t really look very great…

To the point tracking and training - Great Stuff!

Look great - simple to operate and to the point - This is by far the best weightlifting app I've tried in decades. Cheers

Five to three star review after the update! 🤦‍♂️

In the previous revision I had a 14 day plan with 7 workouts done on every other day. Now the new revision has basically disregarded the 14 day schedule I had created and turned it into a 7 day plan with workouts on everyday. I can’t see how to recreate my original scheduled plan, plans seem to have been replaced by folders. I will now have to keep track of my schedules on a separate platform or use a different app entirely. Real shame as I loved this app before.

Hi there, you can accomplish this in the new update by creating a folder for “week 1” and another for “week 2”. You can assign each workout onto days in the week still (and in the update coming in about 2 weeks you will be able to assign multiple workouts to the same day of the week). Hope that helps!

Perfect (Almost)

Let me start by saying this is the best free app period. There is no free app that can beat this. I’ve tried every other one I could find and this is by far the best. I recently used the referral feature to get a lifetime of premium. The suggested workouts are nice if you don’t know exactly how to work out. The only things that bothered me was that there were certain exercises that should’ve been there that weren’t and I had to add myself. There is also no way to track which muscles specifically you’ve worked. But these are minor nitpicks and is overall the best workout app I’ve tried.

Best Workout App for Intermediate and Advanced Training

I’ve been weight training for about 15 years and one of the biggest keys to success in the gym is consistency workout to workout. Flex is built exactly for this. It allows you to build your own workouts in a simple, easy to use format. There are premade workouts available for beginners but I don't think this is really the app’s strength. It remembers your last weight and set for each exercise and carries it over to the next workout. It tracks your rest (which you can customize) And if you make modifications intra-workout, you can save those for the next time as well. The stats dashboard is helpful for tracking progress, though could use some improvement and more detail. Try it out for free, but if you have an apple watch, you’ll definitely want to pay for it, the logging on the watch has changed my ability to stay focused and keep my phone away while working out. Overall an amazing app if you want a highly customizable, simple interface logging app that doesn't push a specific training style or set of workouts.

Free version is perfect for those casually trying to track their weight. Premium gives you everything and more for the more serious lifter

Good app

Very clean and easy to use app, and very easy to log workouts. Can’t seem to find the premium cost to upgrade though?

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind review! You can access the premium through the profile section. Feel free to contact us directly for support through the prompt (screenshot in Flex to open it). Cheers!
