Good content but iPad interface buttons could be more responsive
I like the content on the platform: no ads, good audio quality, and less click bait style compared to YouTube. The iPad interface could be improved though: - A lot of the click targets are too small for fumbling with them during a video on an iPad mini 5 - I don’t know it it’s lag or odd states that I am unfamiliar with, but the controls to skip ahead or rewind a bit in a video only work for presses and drags half the time or so. In the other half of the time, the time slider control seems to be out of touch focus, so it is as if touches are registering on the video itself (pausing it) instead of allowing control over the time stamps. I’d really want better timing control since a lot of videos on this platform are podcast information style, so I frequently find myself wanting to listen to something again but being prevented by the interface.Show lessfrontier204
Great content, good start to an app but can be improved
Personally, I’d love if we could make playlists that play straight through, instead of having autopay skip around the most recently uploaded videos of a particular creator. I have a lot to catch up on from more than one creator, and I don’t want to have to duck in and out of the main player to select videos. And right now, as far as I can tell, the only set of “playlist” we can make is a watch later list, but I’d love to be able to make more than one list for different topics.Show lessJenDaZen
Wonderful app
I love this app; it’s fair (for creators, not my wallet) and has no ads - which is always good, and rare, in 2023.
Also, if you do the CuriosityStream bundle, you can get both platforms for very cheap. You will need to sign up using your favourite creators link though.alex. 🍎
Only one feature that I would recommend
This app is an amazing app and it contains much content from many of my favourite creators. I use it a lot and appreciate the extra/extended content featured on Nebula. The only thing that I would recommend is when a video has captions, a video has a symbol in the corner of the thumbnail if captions are present and no captions symbol if the video is not captioned. This app is very good and this is not a major issue, but would find it helpful so I know if I can watch the video or wait for when I have free time! I’m really happy to be supporting these story tellers in a more direct manner. The one thing I wish I could do is leave a like on the videos that I appreciate the most.

I honestly got so frustrated of struggling to find content that’s thought-provoking, critical and sometimes even contentious! I felt too many streaming platforms were prioritising the production of non-fiction & fantasy shows and I kept hearing about this platform until I eventually took the leap. Content amazing, App needs work but its getting better.
If you want a review of Nebula then may I say 5 star its YouTubes best stuff with no ads, just loverly and I really really enjoy it. If you want a review of the app then well its a work in progress, but it is a work in progress it used to crash all the time and never load, now thats all sorted, still no way to comment and the Picture in Picture is great but often covers up the stuff you want giving you Picture in Picture in the app for no reason but hey the app was really bad now its just got a few issues, and the content, well thats amazing!Show lessJacob McAllen
Won’t be sticking around…
Love the idea of a YouTube alternative and better support to the creators, but not allowing the community to comment on videos is a deal breaker for me. I have heard people saying that they don’t want the toxic comments of YouTube. Fair, but for me this is a cheap excuse. Comments are a very powerful way to communicate thoughts, corrections, additions and ask questions. Nebula without comments is like half the YouTube experience.Show lessMikespy
Worth paying for BUT very buggy
First of all, the content on this service is great and genuinely worth paying for with the Curiosity Stream deal.
But... I don't remember using an app with this many bugs in years! For example, switching to picture-in-picture video often just closes it instead of opening the floating window; switchimg from horizontal full-screen to vertical view to go back to menu and watch further doesn't work all the time and I have to restart the app instead; the app often freezes on loading screen and I have to restart it to fix it; forwarding video by double tapping on the side is not consistent. Or when I tap to play a video, the app sometimes only starts playing the audio the app actually switching from the menu at all and I have to restart.Show lessDavidPiv
