  • Great content horrible app

I can’t believe that in this day and age companies still make the horrible decision for custom playback players, it’s horrible, why do I pay the money for the subscription if CuriosityStream and Nebula apps show video playback like a tiny square on my iPhone 12 Max and 13 Max. This is ridiculous, horrible, terrible to charge people for such stupid app. I can’t watch anything on it. This app sells the video to customer but can’t even play full screen, why Apple does not reject apps like these, there should not be in AppStore ever. Apple please kick this app out of the store.

  • Great content - could use more features

Love nebula’s content, but it would be nice to be able to leave comments and also save videos for later
  • Great app

Awesome app and platform. Is it possible to also include fast forward and rewind buttons and for users to set up auto play or put together their own playlists?
  • Needs Casting ability

So far I’m enjoying Nebula, but I do have one complaint: while there’s an Apple TV app, I have a Google TV in my bedroom and there is neither a Nebula app for that nor Google Cast functionality in the iOS app. This means I cannot watch Nebula on that TV, which is a huge bummer because that’s where I usually want to watch the kind of content that is on Nebula.

  • Chromecast!

Seriously needs Chromecast on iOS. I’m not entirely sure how a video streaming service in 2021 can’t have this feature, it’s absolutely critical. I hope it’s ready to be released soon.
  • Needs notifications and mini player

Otherwise great app to watch content from you tubers in a way as free and helps support them.
    Lots interesting content to watch.
  • Decent app

Decent app but more video player options like playback speed are needed. Other features like chromecast would be good to see too.
  • Love the shows, but no background play?

You have to have not only nebula open but also have the current video in the foreground in order to watch anything. This is even if you are airplaying it to the tv. This is not conducive to how I consume content (I go back and forth between browsing other videos and also would like to lock my phone when watching it on my tv) and so I’m considering not continuing after my trial ends. Love the shows though so please implement background play!

  • AppleTV app makes Nebula PERFECTION

Nebula is awesome and I LOVE supporting independent creators. I wrote a review yesterday asking for two things: an Apple TV app and a continuous play feature. The developers got back to me in less than 24 hours with news that both of those features have been added and they work great! I have nothing but great things to say about nebula and I wish every company would follow their example. Thanks Nebula!

  • Not a great media player for iPhone

So while I think a lot of the content looks good the player implementation gets in the way of enjoying it. Some examples below:

For whatever reason, the media isn’t recognised by iOS so if I try to stop it any other way than the screen controls (e.g AirPod tap), the iPhone starts playing the default audio, typically music. In practice this means if I try to pause it the way I pause anything else on the phone to talk to someone etc, I get the reverse effect of starting loud music! And of course this means I can’t restart the video conveniently either (since last audio is now music).

Another issue - video cannot lose focus and still play. I’d love to be able to keep audio on with the screen off, but I can’t even browse the catalogue in the same application without stopping the video.

Videos still take a hot second to start as well, but that comparatively minor. As is the time it takes to find the creators I commonly watch.

If I could control the updates I would definitely request the developer to fix the first issue (iOS media integration) first since It really does stop me from using the service from my phone for any significant amount of time.

Again, the review is all about the player, not the content. Cheers
