Western Digital dropped this app and all support for these camera systems at least two years ago. Micro Center took over support but really didn’t have the knowledge to support properly. The last app update was over a year ago and for most folks it has bricked the iPad. iPhone still works. Ideally the developer of the app should release an iPad specific version that works the same as the iPhone app but solves the bricked problem. I suggest an iPad specific version because I don’t want to trade off the functionality of the iPhone version on the iPhone. At the very least the developer should provide directions on how to unbrick the iPad. After years of crickets the app has ceased to function for both iPhone and iPad. Do not bother with this system unless you are ok with just have direct access with HDMI cable. WD should be ashamed of this debacle …

  • Works for the basics of the camera system

This app works for the basics of the camera system to initially set it up, view the cameras, and play back recorded video. A few of the more advanced features, such as changing the date and time, do not work and I have to use a monitor and mouse connected to the NVR to access the menu system to make any changes. However, once the system is set up and running the way you like, this app works fine for what it does do. I wish the developer would update the app to either make the advanced options work or remove them altogether and streamline the app for what does work. Going through the NVR directly to access the menu system has a lot more features and options to tweak the system than the app does so it’s probably better to just do it that way and use the app for the basics. It would be nice if the developer fixed the iPad version of the app so it works and doesn’t just show a blank screen. Hopefully, this app is supported and updated as needed so it continues to work on the iPhone for many years to come.

  • App works as intended but isn’t updated regularly

Despite other reviewers giving negative reviews based on the camera system being discontinued by WD and no longer supported, these reviews are supposed to be focused on how the app performs so that’s what I’ll review. The WD ReadyView app works as intended; to view the cameras and recordings. I can access my cameras and recordings without a problem. My only concern is that it’s not updated regularly (last update was a year ago) and worry that one day it will become obsolete and no longer be offered in the App Store. Other than that, it works well for what it was intended to do.

  • Western Digital is criminal!

SINCE NOVEMBER 2021, Western Digital has been aware that this app no longer works. It just loads a blank white screen. I expect Western Digital to continue to do nothing about fixing this issue. They pushed this product and then abandonned it less than a year after putting it out. They offer the worst customer support and already scammed me for over a thousand dollars with their MyCloud product line and I guess I can add a few more hundred dollars to the amount Western Digital has stolen from me with defective products and criminal business practices. I have purchased Western Digital hard drives for myself and several businesses since 2001 and thought their newer electronic products would work good; I was wrong and Western Digital seems to use these products to scam people of their money and quickly abandon them after release. From now on I will get my hard drives from Seagate.

  • iPad

    Not working
  • Terrible App support

App hardly works 80% of the time on iOS so it makes the whole purchase and install a waste. Can’t view or access recorded footage

We loved this until November 2021- then they didn’t update the ISO By Now -April 2022 it works on iPhone - but blank white screen on iPad

The phone number with MicroCenter 614-850-3670 is supposed to take care of customer service - They have no clue

Still has only blank screen on iPad. They don’t care
western Digital turned over maintenance to MicroCenter. Can’t buy this anymore

    Where’s Wei jiang - the developer ?//?

  • This is *still* not working with iPad

When this system was purchased (4 cameras and recorder), it worked well viewing remotely with my iPhone and 1st generation iPad Pro. Over a year ago, the app failed to connect through my iPad Pro. Whenever it is opened, the screen goes white, or it shows the WD ReadyView load screen.

Conversely, it does connect with my iPhone 13. Why only one star? Because it doesn’t work as advertised. It cost several hundred dollars for the hardware, and a bunch more to get it professionally installed.

I do get ReadyView pop-ups whenever the area detects movement, but it doesn’t help if the video is unavailable.

Currently, I don’t have the money to switch systems, but if I did, I would.
