  • Almost perfect

I’m gonna rate it five stars I’m not gonna be that guy that’s gonna say just because one thing is wrong with the app it doesn’t deserve five stars it’s an amazing app works very well I see a lot of reviews on the UI and it is a little iffy but it gets the job done I’m having trouble reading this piece of music right now instead of having to download an app that you have to pay for I can just scan the document and read it right here it has a very cool playback function where I can play a segment of a piece very easily I haven’t explored anything past that but it seems like a very good application

  • Very clever program

What a brilliant program and it’s easy to use. I use it to import xml files into Dorico and it works a treat. You will need to pay a subscription as the free version does not offer the import facility but it’s a very reasonable sub in my mind.

  • Great App When it Works

This is a great app when it works, but when it doesn’t it’s frustrating. I’m a church soloist but don’t play the piano, so I rely on this app to help me learn the music I need for church. There are times when I’m learning a piece of music (vocal music), the app will play both the vocal line and piano part like it’s supposed to, but the next line down it’ll only play the vocal line and not the piano part, and the it’ll repeat and reverse what it plays. Other times the app will speed up real fast halfway through a line and skip most of what it’s supposed to play. Other times it will skip a line of music altogether, and no matter how many times you try, it simply won’t go play the lines of music it skips. Developers please fix this problem.

This happens when the image is poor. Everything depends on image quality. On the camera screen, tap the ? Button. You will then see help you can swipe through. Use strong light Make sure image straight and page flat Stand music up and snap in the centre, not from one side Make sure focus is sharp If still having problems email us at support@organumconsulting.com
  • Love it—room for improvement

I love this app. I use it all the time. I pay for the highest tier.
The two things that I really need it to do that, so far, it doesn’t do:
    1. I wish there was a way to organize the music you have uploaded into it. Different files, etc. it’s very disorganized and I end up re-uploading anything I’m working on instead of finding it.
    2. I desperately wish you could upload more than 10 pages. Even if it has to break it into different files—it takes so much work for me to organize it into ten pages at a time on other apps, and THEN load it into PlayScore ten pages at a time.

You can already have more than 10 pages. Icon top right. Any page range. You can sort by title, composer and recency. Respectfully recommend reviewing the help, or write us support@organumconsulting.com
  • Good App, Missing Features.

PlayScore 2 is awesome, however, there are some features I would like to see added.

    1. Support/labelling things like etude numbers and movement numbers/names. I have the Melodious Etudes book by Giulio Marco Bordogni, and rather than showing etude numbers, text above/below the staff, etc., out comes a long string of notes. No double bars, no page divisions, nothing. That was my BIGGEST peeve.

    2. Support for AirTurn Duo pedals.

    3. Support for jazz charts and or pieces, titles, and text written in the typical jazz script.

    4. Support for text that preceeds etudes/works, etc. I have a trombone book by Jean-Baptiste Arban, Alessi/Bowman edition, and the text that describes the idea and goal of a section are nowhere to be found.

    5. Support for vocal pieces with lyrics, stacked harmonies, and Gregorian pieces written in the neumatic system.

As I said, wonderful app, just needs some improvements. I am legally blind, and I see so much potential in this app. I feel as though it could make LimeLighter by Dancing Dots obsolete if it is even further improved.

Sounds like you are using MIDI. Please use MusicXML. Then you will export double bars, text etc. Please turn on Lyrics and Text for lyrics. Air Turn is not supported because app scrolls by itself. It sounds as if some of these issues are connected with the app you are exporting to. If. • Intermittent

Unfortunately, I found that when translating from PDF files, this app decides to miss random notes, and in one case a while line was totally skipped for no apparent reason, even though the PDF files were pristine.
I'm a choir member with very limited sight-reading skill, and had hoped this was going to live up to all the hype, but I have been sadly disappointed, and am pleased I only took out a month's subscription to try it out.

If app skips it is due to image quality. This may not be immediately apparent to the eye. Images should be at lease 1Mb per page. For best results use published material. Support@organumconsulting.com
  • The game-changer

Somehow I became one of the lucky (relative) few to discover this app and what it can do. Now, when I find myself at a gig with many colleagues, when I demonstrate what this app is capable of, it’s like I’m introducing cavemen to fire. An app that can take a picture of a score and play it back immediately, or you can manipulate the playback to only play the accompaniment for practice purposes, or to learn your specific line in a tight jazz chord, or to take down an entire score, and share it with your DAW and begin rearranging it IMMEDIATELY. And so much more. The possibilities are endless. This app is the game-change!

  • Great concept, but the OCR is a bit flawed

This app is a great idea - take a picture of sheet music and play along with it at various speeds. However, despite my photos being crisp (I even edited them first to make them as clear as possible) some notes are missed by the app.

Maybe the developers could let the user see (and edit) the score it ‘sees’?

    Developer Response

Please do not pre-edit scores. That will interfere with the process. Please take a well-lit straight, in-focus picture. App will also play any publishing quality PDF score. Happy to help at support@organumconsulting.com
  • Good for free

This app was amazing as I can see right now in the first few days of using it. It’s amazing considering other apps you had to pay too much for such little features. This app has other features that you need to pay for but the free features are all I really need. If you need pdf importing than you will need to pay but otherwise this app does a good job.

  • Many Errors

This app is way over sold. As are other cheap or free music scanning apps. It works great for scanning and playing the music. If you want to edit or transpose music it does not convert well. It’s ok if you don’t mind a lot of error correction work in other music editing software, but that is not what I needed. I tried this app half a dozen times and cancelled the professional subscription. I bought a more professional program that works great.
