Got aDJI Mini 2 for x-mas and looked into this app for it. The Mini 2 was in the compatible list but it was not mentioned the DJI SDK wasn’t out. As of January it’s been released for Android but still waiting for iOS. Not very compatible without the SDK.Hatter81
Best Automated mission app
I’ve been using DL since December 2020 when it added the Mavic Air 2. DL has much more to offer then the other basically “Cloned” missions apps. DL uses Virtual Joystick approach which means the software is basically sending commands to the controllers Joysticks, Jug wheel and other functions or features in real time to fly the Aircraft just as the pilot would do. Virtual Joystick allows the aircraft to perform many functions/feature which the other apps cannot perform. A constant connection is needed for Virtual Joystick approach to work but I’ve never had a loss of connection since I fly only VLOS. All the other mission apps use what they call “onboard waypoints” which loads the plan onto the drone. With onboard waypoints the mission will continue to fly if the connection is lost. However, you then have no video feed or control of your aircraft if anything goes wrong. It will either complete the mission or possibly crash into something without you knowing. I’d rather have control of my aircraft at all times then take a chance of having an issue which I can’t control. DL allows the pilot to pause, stop or cancel the mission at any time and take control if any issue comes up since it needs a connection. With the more recent drones over the years using transmission methods like DJI’S “Ocusync” or other manufactures stable constant connection methods, I believe DL has the best system and well worth the money. I also own a Mavic Mini which does not have Ocusync and I’ve never had a disconnection or loss of signal flying VLOS. There are so many more functions and features to utilize with DL it’s really not comparable to any other automated mission app. Enjoy and fly safe.
January 29th, 2022 update:
I have flown over 900 minutes (15 hours) of automated missions which is about 25% all my flights total between flying manually with the DJI Fly app and automated DL missies. Over the last year DL has done an incredible amount of work and added a lot of functions/ features to the app which have worked great. They have even added onboard waypoints capability for the drones which support them. I did a good amount of research before purchasing DL and no other app either had or even now has everything which DL offers. Their support through the DL forum and Facebook group has been incredible. The owner Jim is on there almost every single day answering questions as well as others. Not only do they give great support but they are always listening and making improvements. I believe this app is the best value for the money by far. Whether a Hobbyist or Commercial pilot it’s well worth the investment. It may take some time to learn using the web app especially if you have never used any other automated mission app before. However, once you get the basics down it won’t take long to start going through a ton of functions, features and settings to to get your desired outcome. Amazing App
I love Dronelink! One of the best flight apps out there for flight automation and customization. It has a different user interface than the typical flight app but if you take the time to learn how to use it and watch the tutorial videos you will not be disappointed. Dronelink is constantly being updated and improved - the user interface has become easier to use as well. There is a wide array of user plans to choose from to suit all levels of users. Missions can be planned on a PC or tablet and then run on a tablet or phone. The software is multi-platform so you are not locked into one platform. This is handy if you have devices that span multi-platforms. There is an active and responsive community forum where new feature requests and bug reports can be submitted along with general questions and inquires. Product support is excellent and fast. One of the things that makes Dronelink unique is that when you get support your are usually getting it from the developers themselves because it is a small company, so they know what they are talking about and how to help. My dodgey internet connection fell over half way through registering my account and I wasn’t able reuse my email address once internet connection was restored … emailed Dronelink at 7pm and by 7am next day, problem sorted. Outstanding!
Have mapped a few cheeky missions around my property now. Web interface for planning missions is very intuitive and easy to use and backs up missions to your smartphone before you can even pick it up to check.
I can see this app having a multitude of useful applications particularly in remote area agriculture here in Australia… sit in the comfort of your homestead and plan missions for your drone to go check your water points, fences, gates, any calves dropped overnight, monitor feral animal and predator activity.Show lessidonthaveanicknameeithereh
