Calibration

App will not connect to my H3 even though device check says everything is working fine. Not great

It does not pick up the Saris sensor

I bought a Saris indoor trainer that included the Saris sensor (cadence/speed), tried to set it up (many times already) with the utility but unfortunately the app does not connect to the sensor neither in cadence nor speed. I give this a 3 star rating because the sensor works with Rouvy… wished this could be different.

Will not connect to trainer

I use the trainer with ZWIFT, Rouvy, and other apps. However, the Saris app will not find sensor. Have tried installing multiple times with no change. Very disappointing.

Unable to connect - brand new H3

I have a brand new H3, and despite repeated attempts I have been unable to connect the device with the Saris app. I get a “Couldn’t connect to app. Make sure it is on and blinking green”. It is on and blinking green, and the Check Device Setup works without a problem. Very disappointing. Mobile is an iPhone 13.

Won’t connect to Bluetooth

Restarted and restarted, tried different phones and iPads but just won’t connect to Bluetooth.
Interestingly, when doing the ‘Check Device Setup’ the trainer does ever so briefly blink blue but that’s where it ends. Would be a little easier to understand if it was 3rd party software.
Now what? Forced to buy an ANT dongle and all. Not a happy customer and bad news travels fast Saris…

Terrible UI

A smart trainer that costs $1,000 yet an app that looks like a middle school intern made it. you seriously need to get on Wahoos level of interface design. This app is basic and clunky.

Current version no longer supports CycleOps Powerbeam smart trainers

Some time in the last year Saris’s app stopped supporting the Cycleops Powerbeam Pro smart trainer. Owners can no longer calibrate their trainers for Zwift or RGT. The developers should make available the legacy app to allow us to continue using our trainers.

Updating firmware

Unable to update firmware. Can’t use the trainer. So frustrating!!!!

Response from developer

Are you connected to your device? Is it blinking green before you make the connection? If you continue to have troubles, just shoot us an email at developer@saris.com and we can get you through updating firmware. Also, there are videos of the entire process under Settings->Helpful Videos.

Not again!

Just installed the latest firmware and recalibrated my Hammer2 5 times and still watts are way too low when peddling with hard effort. Not the first time this has happened and makes me regret buying a Hammer from Cycleops. Thinking of just giving in and buying a Wahoo Kickr to avoid all this frustration, including ERG mode shutting off my trainer in workouts by putting it in sleep mode.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. When you do a target power workout in the Saris Utility, your trainer should never go into sleep mode. If you continue to have issues with this, shoot us an email at developer@saris.com and we can analyze your trainer remotely.

Quirky Power Adjustment

I can’t be the only one a little annoyed with the slide bar. Why is (+10) on the decrease-the-power end and (-10) on the increase-the-power end of the “slide bar”. It’s bass-awkwards. Plus it’s not really a slide bar. While it looks like one could put their finger on the button and side it (as the name implies), a person can’t actually do that. So, it’s not actually a slide bar, it’s just a status bar. Which again, runs backwards in relation to the plus and minus buttons. Also, why not more presets in increments of 50 in two columns instead of one-hundred watts going completely across the screen? Such as:
50 | 75
100 | 150
200 | 250
300 | 350
400 | 450
Then you will have a well functioning, end-user oriented, intuitive app.
But those are just the options of someone with a visual communication degree. :)

Response from developer

Thanks for the great feedback! Could you send us a picture of your workout screen to developer@saris.com? Our -10 button is on the left hand side, which correlates to a decrease in wattage and the +10 is on the right hand side which correlates to an increase in wattage. You should be able to click, slide and release to move the target wattage up and down. If you can't let us know. We picked 5 zones that you can modify (via the settings screen) to correlate to the typical five zone workout.
