  • All my OTPs were suddenly gone

Not sure what changed, whether a recent iOS upgrade, app offloading and restoring, or something else. But today upon opening the app where I have had about a dozen OTPs stored for the last 5 years, all of them were gone and I faced a brand new user onboarding flow. Quite a surprise and frustrating disappointment after years of flawless use.

  • Essentially Ransomware for existing users

The newest update locks out the essential feature of exporting tokens to a ZIP (useful for importing to a new Authenticator app) unless it’s paid for. I was fortunate to have a manual backup of my keys from earlier in the year to import into an alternative app but I am unable to do so for one token which I’ll need to setup again from scratch.

Update: Following another update that looks to have re-enabled functionality I’ve exported and imported all tokens to a new app. I appreciate this but the reputational damage has been done and I will be using an alternative going forward. An Authenticator does not need exciting new features other than cloud or local backing up, exporting and importing.

    Developer Response

Dear user, As of July of last year, the app has a new owner. It is important to save your keys in the event of such changes. Following an update, the app now requires signing in with a new provisioning profile, which may have led to the loss of keys. If you used the iCloud sync function or exported your keys while remembering your Masterkey, all your OTP will now be restored. We are actively working to fully grasp the situation and prevent any similar issues in the future. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that we are working on exciting new features that will be released next week. For any further assistance, please feel free to contact us at contact@mobime.org. Kind regards,
  • Worst OTP app.

I used to use this app when it was independently developed by a security professional( I researched him before using the app) now it’s been sold can’t blame him it’s not the app once was. I would suggest you avoid this app. They introduce subscription (I have no issues with this) without what appears to be any warning which is a sign of a terrible app development team.
If you don’t want to get locked out of your accounts use something else.

That's so nice to hear. Follow up messages like these really make my day! Thanks Brutos! 🍻
  • All my 2FA codes got wiped after update

Do not trust this application and their maintainers anymore, all my 2FA TOTP codes got erased after updating the app today. They were also not backed up on iCloud as I do not trust iCloud, so they are gone for good. This has caused me plenty of trouble and loss of access to several web accounts. DO NOT use this app, it may have been open-source but they should take basic steps to ensure user data accessibility and consent before data erasure from user device. This is really shameful act from the developers.

  • Lost all 2FA

All 2FA tokens were lost with no notice of an incoming update or a notice of the management change. I would avoid using this and find any other 2FA app.
  • Switched apps.

After an update to monopolize this app that added paywalls to do things as simple as export 2FA codes, they broke the app and logged everyone out.

Thankfully I remembered my master password, which they confusingly seem to synonymously call the “recovery key”, which I really don’t think is accurate considering sites with 2FA have you save randomized sets of “recovery keys” whereas this is a manually-chosen password.

I somehow was able to export my codes for free, not sure if they just allowed that after the backlash, but I still won’t be using this app again regardless. This was clearly an untested money grab update, and I cannot imagine the new developers taking this app toward a great future when it’s already this clear that it’s profit over anything else.

Even prior to this update the app would randomly give me some error saying I was logged out of iCloud (not the case). I’d need to restart the app. Not sure if this was the old or new developers, but regardless I’ll be switching to an app with good developers who care for users.

  • Deleted all data, nearly locked out of accounts

Do not trust this app anymore. I had loved this alternative of 2FA, but now it had deleted my data on an update. This has been used for my password manager, and thank heavens I have a backup key otherwise I would have been locked out of everything in my life.

I’m sorry to every one else going through their lost data. 2FA isn’t something a company can mess up and just say sorry for, people’s data and digital lives can depend on this.

  • All lost without warning !

Went to use Raivo and was greeted with Things look empty around here. Click the + to create your first OTP.

Now for to start the process of trying to remove 2fa from my sites and replace with something else. Likely a hardware solution.

Wish I could give negative stars. They sure don’t deserve the one I gave.

  • Deleted all my codes

Once the app updated, I opened it and it immediately asked me to subscribe to a premium plan. After I closed the pop-up, I was thankfully able to restore my iCloud backup, but if I didn't have that then all my data would've been lost. Incredibly bad move, especially after being sold.
  • Wow. Absolute Garbage.

Used to be a great app. New update resets your data. All OTP tokens lost. Cause you know… why would you need those?!?!

Way to buy an app and kill it. Awesome. High Five.

    Total POS move!
