  • Once great, now feels like a scam 🤬

    I’ve been a loyal use of Ravi OPT for many years now. It has been my favorite of the open-source apps on the App Store.
    Today that all changed. The app update, presented me with a paywall out of nowhere 🤬, forced me to log in as if I was a new user, and once I did log in. It had lost over 100 account connections. Even with the iCloud backup turned on. 🤦‍♂️
    Turns out the dev quietly sold his open source to a company last year without letting the community of uses know on GitHub (where the open source was hosted at). The new “owners” have now turned on a paywall in the app while making no major announcements that they would do so.
    I’m all for devs making money off of a great app and helping to support open source. I write apps myself. But the nature of how this all went down makes it feel very underhanded and unscrupulous!
    I’ve changed my rating of this app from 5 stars to 1. I would look elsewhere for your 2FA needs. Try 2FAS, Ente Auth or Twillo Auth at this point l.

  • App no longer launches, migrate immediately.

    The app went from being reliable and hassle-free to not even launching, you can’t even report an issue without having a GitHub account, so any chance of getting any kind of help is slim to none. So I now have no way of signing into some apps now because of this, apparently the company was bought off and it shows. Time to migrate onto something else before something happens to all your sensitive data.

    Update: app is now fixes and works as normal, that being said, trust is broken and I have no intention of using again.

  • Attempting to Profit from Existing Users

    I do not recommend using this application.

    I’d been using Raivo for years with no issues. After the last updates my existing codes were “locked” behind a paywall splash screen. I was able to get around this and re-login with my backup password so I could access work apps this morning. The developer has also now locked access to previously included features like backing up codes - so even though I was able to sign in I am required to pay at least $5 just to back up data.

    I have learned that this app was sold to another company earlier this year. The new developers have basically locked access and/or disabled features that were included less than 24 hours ago. What is worse is they made no attempt to alert the user base any of this was happening - the only reasonable explanation for this would be the desire to make as much money as possible from their existing users but without adding any value to the app.

    A classic bait and switch… I’ve manually migrated to another app so there are two switches in this case, me switching to another app. This company will not get a dime from me.

  • This all risks your security

    MFA is supposed to enhance your security - the updates to this app reduces your security and puts you at great risk of being locked out of all your accounts.

    Raivo was acquired by what appears to be a shady company. They pushed an update that renamed the app “Raivo Debug” that completely broke the app, leaving many (including myself) unable to access tokens during critical business hours.

    An update was pushed and I was able to open the app and the flow was a “fresh install” user experience. Where are my tokens? I had to restore from a backup to get it all back.

    When I went to move to an app that actually respects your privacy and security, I tried to export everything from Raivo and was hit with a paywall.

    What a shame.

    The precedent has been set: a buggy app surrounding security behind a paywall. You might wake up one day unable to access your tokens due to a bug or a new paywall.

    Raivo used to be the best in the game. Now, it’s literally rock bottom. Stay away.

  • New update locked me out of my account

    Last time I used Raivo my biometrics still worked, but the horrible company that bought it updated the app without warning and and now I’m locked out. You could say it’s my fault for not remembering the password, and yeah, that’s true, but it doesn’t make the company less awful for making a major change like this without warning just so they could start charging for the service people had been using specifically because it was free. Maybe I wrote my password down somewhere, or took a picture of it, or I don’t know. I’m still looking. I only had one account left to migrate over to 2FAS, so at least everything else is safe. As for anyone looking into using this authentication app: DON’T. The company running it doesn’t care about you.

Currently, there is a version in place to help you recover your keys before the app was acquired by Mobime. We have been working non-stop for the last three days without leaving the office to create another version that is currently pending release. This new version will allow you to import all keys using iCloud from the beginning of using Raivo.   • I've been locked out and lost all access due to UPDATE

    I was using this app just fine until it updated and now I have no access at all. The app has completely erased all my stored OTP codes and won't even accept my initial password. Now I cannot access any of my accounts because of this. I don't recommend this app to anyone. Thanks a lot!

We released a version yesterday that allows users to recover some of their keys as long as they remember their Masterkey. We have found a solution where you can recover all of your keys, which should be available for download in the next few hours.   • Brick the app, then paywall backups

    Around 10 months ago, the application was obtained by Mobime. No updates since.

    They release one update and completely brick the application for a day.

    After the recent fix, the application pushes you to pay for "premium features" with no real explanation of what those features are.

    Oh, and if you didn't back up your 2FA codes to iCloud, or if you forgot your master password, or if you didn't pick the right option after the update, you lose all your 2FA codes.

    So you try to export your 2FA codes once you're back in, to back them up, but just kidding! It's a $5/month charge to access that.

    Mobime had to know what they were doing. Saw the backlash and decided to try and make a quick buck off their manufactured problem.

    Stay away from this application and this developer. Hopefully they don't rebrand.

  • Scam app paywalling our old existing 2FA tokens

    I just updated the app and now I can’t access my tokens behind this garbage paywall. No warning whatsoever. They now want you to pay to access them? This is extortion! Apple needs to step in and do something. Do not update or even use this trash service anymore. It was once a good app but the developer seems to have sold out.

  • App reset after new update, cant restore without a subscription

    After new update applied, all my tokens were wiped. I tried to restore from backup zip file but now it is requiring me to have a subscription. What is this

  • Was good but now ongoing subscription. Avoid.

    This was a great app, but they’ve now taken previously free features and locked them behind a subscription paywall. Not cool. No reason for an ongoing subscription. Do not install this app. There are free alternatives.
