  • You have to subscribe after paying

Paid outright when I first got the app and then later they switched to a subscription model. You should just grandfather the users that paid already in to keeping the app if you’re going to change your business model. It’s not worth the subscription since it’s too glitchy.
  • Doesn’t work.

I don’t know if it’s because I use iOS 14’s Sleep function (with its alarm off) or because I listen to music while I sleep, but this app neither played a podcast nor played an alarm sound. It just sent repeated empty notifications to my watch, which I discovered after I woke up on my own.
  • Pricing

Wrote a scathing review the first time but it got sorted out, was grateful for that

EDIT : looks like it’s back to normal now and have updated my review as such, brilliant app I love it

Hi there. Thank you for letting me know about this. I'm really sorry for the frustration. Playing a song instead of the podcast is a very rare, bizarre behavior that I haven't been able to duplicate yet in my testing. I thought I had it fixed with version 2.4.2, but since it appears the fix didn't work for everyone, I'll definitely continue to work on it. If you'd like me to keep you posted on the progress, I'd be happy to. Just send me a quick email. Since it doesn't seem to have been completely fixed with the new version, I will also update the FAQ. Thank you again for letting me know.
  • Doesn’t work

I can visually see my alarm settings, but it always shows “no alarm set” and it never works. I tried the white noise function at work. When I took my AirPods off, it played the pond frog sound really loudly. Embarrassing! I am deleting it now.
  • Doesn’t Work, Very Glitchy

This app doesn’t do the one thing I want it to do. It won’t play my news app in the morning, despite having automatic downloads on. I have my backup alarm set as “The Muezzin”, and it won’t even play that. Instead, it plays random music from my Apple Music app. It’s very confusing walking up to Katy Perry’s “Firework” when you’re expecting a slow, gradual, and peaceful wake up to NPR. Also, I can’t even stop the music once it’s started. I have to go into a separate app to play something else in order to cancel out what is already playing, and then pause what I’ve started in order to get anything to stop. And now, it’s telling me I have to start paying a month fee in order to even continue waking up to my podcasts.... even though I haven’t even been able to, so I don’t know why it’s telling me I only have so many podcast alarms left, despite paying money to even get the app in the first place. Please work out the glitches in this app before you start charging money. I wouldn’t even use this app if it was free.

Hi there. I'm so sorry for your frustrating experiences with the app. I just want to start by saying that it should not be asking you to subscribe if you were already a user. It seems to be a bug from when the pricing model was switched over, and I'm happy to help get it fixed if you want to reach out. I'd also love a chance to troubleshoot some of the other issues you've been having if you'd like to send a note to support@nextupalarm.com
  • Cool idea

But think it through- does one have to wear headphones to bed for this to work? Most little phone speakers won’t be loud enough to wake you up and you have to set the volume high. Don’t make this your only alarm ok? Would be better as a smart speaker application. That would wake you up! Boycott Rogan’s trash theatre.

  • The best podcast alarm on the market!

Sleek and user friendly. It’s made my mornings better!
  • Doesn’t work!!

So disappointing, not even the backup alarm went off when the podcast failed to play
  • Not Intuitive

To much interfacing going on to get the desired results. I know nothing is simple these days but it is not user friendly.
  • Tysm!!

I’ve been looking for an app like this forever! all previous podcast alarms showed no promise. I have tried everything to fix my sleep and nothing motivated me to wake up as much as a podcast does! Also, I suggest adding a feature where we can’t close the alarm until the episode finishes or at a specified time like (an hour or 15min) this is for the extremely lazy people like me who might close the alarm right after the host speaks and then loses the benefits.

Also you’re a real life saver!!
