  • Just getting started but...

I've only just barely started using this app but it's amazing. Perfect in every way? Probably not, but compared to the other apps I've tried, it's one of the best. The journals are super customizable and as someone who wants to eventually put together a web toon I appreciate being able to not only manually write my outline and scripts, but also being able to add pages like the storyboards or the blank/ lineless ones where I can sketch small ideas directly into the app instead of having to have the small doodles and panel planning separate in procreate. The tools also work very well for sketching and doodling.

So far I love it, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to improve on. I'll come back and edit my review should I encounter any terrible issues.

    Developer Response

Hey, just wanted to leave you a note to say how much we appreciate the feedback. If you have ideas for anything Penbook could do to specifically support web toon creators (templates, stencils, etc.?) we would love to hear them - penbook@user.camp . All the best!
  • Why Penbook, Why?

I fell in love with this app. Despite not being able to add my own covers, everything else was stellar. Tons of templates to choose from, simple interface. It became such a staple in two weeks that I quickly organized branding and merchandise shots into layouts for upcoming projects. I had dozens of pages and to do lists. Now for some reason I opened it today and all the pictures are missing. The app says it’s iCloud settings are off, but that’s false. This is very disappointing. I need my dream productivity app to fix this bug! Otherwise this would be a 5 star review.

  • One of my favorites

I love Penbook a lot. I ended up subscribing so I could have more than one notebook, though I could’ve found a way to work it all into the free plan. The only suggestion/want I have for this app is maybe a backup/sync feature, because my concern is an accident could happen before I have a chance to export to PDF or something. Otherwise, though, this app is great and I love it.

  • Good app with some issues with undo

So far i like it, the only annoying this that I’ve noticed is while doing zoom in and zoom out it gets the gesture as undo which is really annoying.

On the side note it would be nice if the page can be zoomed in beyond screen size so that more content can be fit in, like when you zoom out the content that you have written in obviously would have smaller font, but on the big screen it would appear just fine.

I’m still reviewing it so the rating might change but yes the undo thing is definitely an issue.

  • Best note taking app by far!! :)

So I am not really a big fan of online note-taking. But Penbook changed that. It is so easy to use! (I don’t have premium, though :( ) I am in love w/ the new update with washi tapes and pics and tags and titles! It’s just endless creativity. Buuut, there is one con. No text boxes. I don’t have an apple pen or stylus and my handwriting isn’t good on a device. When I’m taking notes, I have to take them quick, hence I can barely read my notes and “to-do’s”. Overall LOVE the app, keep up the good work but please keep in mind about the text-boxes.

  • Great but annoying bug

I really enjoy this app for taking notes and doodling in, it’s nice to use and I like the interface. However, I noticed that every time I zoom in to write or draw, my latest mark will be undone as soon as I zoom out. It’s very annoying and I have to make a random line that will take the hit instead each time I zoom out. Also, it says I need to allow iCloud for the images/stickers feature even though it’s already enabled?

  • Great App/ Updates need some work

The new update with the stickers is making adding pictures difficult. When I upload a pic I now have to touch a random space around the pic to move it around and place it where I want. It’s definitely wonky, but that is the only issue I’ve encountered since using this app for 5 months. I love using this app for taking notes, “to-do” lists, and vision boards! You can bring your visions to life with this app.

  • This is really good

I like practicing and switching up my handwriting a lot just to find the kind that suites me, but I normally don’t have a note book that I can just find and start writing in. I also like how you can costomize the paper you want (lined, graph, dotted, etc.) and I like the different writing tools that I can use. And the fact that you can only have one notebook dosent bother me because you can make a ton of pages. I like it a lot

  • I want to like this

Having a handwriting notebook on my iPad would solve a lot of problems for me, and this app is almost good enough to subscribe to. The main issue is that there are things that *need* to be customizable to be useful, and they aren't - like the time range for daily or weekly planners. 3 predetermined hour ranges is not an acceptable option - my schedule does not conform to whatever you imagined would fit in those. Users should be able to simply set their own hours. Otherwise, why have a schedule at all? I need to see MY hours, not how my schedule fits into YOUR hours.

Make the actual settings like that more customizable, and I'll be back.

  • Pretty good but wish it had a password feature

I was hoping to use this app for journaling, so it would be really great if it had a passcode protection feature. Maybe I am missing that. Also, on the iPad, the settings and help icons overlap each other and are difficult to select without making numerous attempts. I really like the page layout and writing features. I was wanting an app that let me use hand writing for journaling and this will work great for this, if only it was more secured with a passcode and the headings at the top of the page didn’t overlap on each other (or at least they do on the iPad version).
