Great service

This app was the first step in diagnosing a stage 1 melanoma on my back. A very helpful piece of tech, get your skin checked regularly people!

Caught a melanoma!!

I’m only 19 years old and have always had a bit of health anxiety, so when I started worrying about the funky mole on my foot everyone told me I was being silly and shouldn’t be concerned. I wasn’t convinced, downloaded this app, and it showed that the mole on my foot was a whopping 98% concerning!! This was the push I needed to take myself seriously and go to the doctor. It was biopsied and sure enough, melanoma.

This app was, at least for me, very accurate. I just found out so I’m not sure if the melanoma is advanced or anything yet, but I do know if I hadn’t had that push to take my worries seriously, there’s no telling how much longer I would’ve waited. If you get a “concerning” result, don’t write it off! Thankful!!

This is a money maker

I submitted first picture 83% non concerning then took 2 more pictures both with high percentage of concerning. This app wants you to then pay a fee to send a picture to a “Dr”. My opinion is if you have a mole that looks concerning by pass this opinion save your money then go see your own Dr. because that is all the people on this app will tell you. You should never use a middle man when it comes to your health. I gave 2 stars because it’s easy to use and the pictures look good

Of course there is a fee for getting a personalized report from a dermatologists. These physicians have decades of experience and are involved in skin cancer research. Contact us if you want to reach out to them. They usually charge hundreds of dollars for a consultation. We believe that there is immense value in having a medical professional (what you refer to as a middle man) look at skin lesions and provide information on what to do next (and most of our users agree). This is especially important when it takes months in some cases to get a referral to a dermatologist. Flattered that you think we're a money maker with a consultation fee of less than $30!

Misleading

This app is misleading, I took a picture of my skin with no marks/moles and it came back as 95% concerning.. and also other areas of my body where there were no moles. This app creates fear for no reason and should really be looked at before being published

The app is only intended for moles. It's written clearly on the description and in the instruction within the app that pictures of anything else other than images of moles will provide incoherent results. For assistance on how to use the app, contact support@scanoma.com.

Incorrect for me

I got results ranging from 97% concerning to 100% concerning depending on each picture I took. Panicked and saw a dermatologist. She looked at it for 2 seconds and said it was completely normal. Of course she checked it more thoroughly after… but all is well. I lost a LOT of sleep worrying because of this app since I have 2 little kids who need their mom. Ultimately… just go see a doctor.

Helpful!

I used the app in order to gauge if I should see a dermatologist. All photos I submitted were over 70% concerning, so I paid for them to submit a photo to a dermatologist online. Results were speedy and suggested a derm visit. The app and online doctor were right, as I had to have a removal and biopsy. This app was crucial to pushing myself for an appointment!

Awful

As a sufferer of health anxiety, I have LOTS of moles, (roughly 50) I scanned almost EVERY single one and we’re Over 90 % concerning for every one of them, absolutely rubbish what a scam.

Scam

Inconclusive result for a clear picture, costs $27 to send the picture to a doctor. No thanks, I’ll spend that amount on a co-pay to see my general practitioner, she can look at more than 1 mole for my visit as well.
