Great app

Great app, a quick and easy way to keep an eye on any unusual moles or growths and a fast response as to high or low risk. Easy to use, I will use this for any concerning moles in the future and have already recommended it to my family members. Excellent idea. Definitely recommend.

SCAM

This app is a scam! No matter what you take a picture of it will tel you there is a concern just to get your money. I took a picture of my pants and it said it was 100% concerning. People come to this app for actual help.

Edit: Nice try... I did scan my mole first that came back as 71% concerning. I’ll go to a actual dr for less than $24 and they can look over all my moles not just one. The only thing that concerns me is your app.

Great app

Good design. It’s very easy to use!

Grain of salt

The camera can only do so much. The results change for the same spot depending on the lighting, angel, and clarity. If you pay $23 a dermatologist will look at it and tell you to go see a dermatologist lol. Save your money for your copay/coinsurance. Hopefully this does encourage people to get their skin checked by a dermatologist!

Results seem untethered from reality

I took a picture of a mole that is new. The AI says 78% concerning. Uh oh, glad I tried the app!
Wait, what happens if I take a picture of a mole that has been there for 30 years? 68% concerning. 🤔
One more try. I take a picture of my bare hand. No moles or spots - just my pure beautiful skin. 👋🏻 92% concerning!
Either the AI is very poorly calibrated or it has detected my invisible hand cancer. Or maybe the app is just designed to sell second opinions for $23.

Scam

Birthmarks that are totally safe marked as 68% concerning, yet mole that was concerned about marked as inconclusive, in all cases the app asks to contact a doctor through the app for an opinion, terrible.

Response from developer

That’s quite the accusation. As the name of the app suggests, it’s specifically trained to work on moles and not on birthmarks which can vary quite a lot. An inconclusive result on a mole means the confidence is not certain and should be checked by a dermatologist which the app justly recommended. Feel free to contact us at support@scanoma.com if you have questions.

Reassurance and sound advice

I love this app. I’ve checked several moles via the computer comparison and I’ve paid to have three checked by a scanoma doctor. The advice always seems accurate and it’s reassuring to have skin moles and lesions checked especially during the pandemic when visiting a doctor in person might be difficult and risky.

Alright

I took a picture once and got 82% benign then again and got 86% benign then again and got 95% benign then again and got 100% concerning and then again and got 99% concerning then again and got 86% benign all on one mole or melanoma I can’t tell

Response from developer

Thank you for your review ! Slight movements and differences in the light accessing the camera can have an effect on the image which could then lead to the variations you’re experiencing. Please get in touch at support@scanoma.com with your images so we can investigate further ! Thank you 🙏

Great app

This app is excellent. Obviously it doesn’t take away to get regular checks but does help with any anxiety you may be feeling. I recently was tested by a doctor and then used the app and it aligned with what the doctors told me. I then googled cancerous moles and took a photo of them using the app and it picks them up as dangerous moles. So, basically it works.

Why can’t we flip the camera??

I have a spot in question that is in an incredibly difficult area to see ... not to mention try to take a photo of with the way they have the camera. Allow us to be able to flip the camera! I can’t get a good photo otherwise...
