  • Half baked app

Looks like they spent time and money on videos and graphic design, but completely cut corners on development and usability. This app is full of bugs and problems, making it almost useless. Ex. when starting a routine to check it out, you cannot quit the routine without finishing it. To quit, you actually have to kill the app/process. (Some people still don’t even know how to do that with an iPhone.) Also it requires Bluetooth access right after you tell it you only have a device without Bluetooth. Finally after telling it I have a hypervolt 2 go and want to do a routine for feet, it shows a demo of someone using parts that don’t come with this device. What a disappointment. ☹️

  • Disappointed

I am not impressed. I ran into so many frustrations right out of the gate.

The videos seem to be more cinematography based and it’s many times difficult to see how the device is being moved along the muscles. It is particularly difficult to see when the person is wearing black clothing and using a black device.

When my device went from green to yellow in power, the app could no longer find it to connect through bluetooth.

I searched and searched for videos on how to massage my back muscles. I couldn’t find a single one. I could only find videos about supporting muscles that contribute to back pain, which is great, but I would also like to see the best way to actually massage the muscles on my back. Especially my mid back.

The app kept freezing and I would have to close and reopen to use it.

  • Not a great user experience

Updated review from 2 to 3 stars: They’ve since updated the app so that the HyperSmart score is calculated after each routine. This works for the HyperVolt 2 but was disappointed to learn that recovery with the Venom Back isn’t calculated into the score. Every page still takes 2-4 seconds to load which is super annoying in 2022. It suggests routines but you have to click through a few different screens before you can actually start. Venom also does not have routines or remember the last settings. After venom dies, 50% of time I have to turn Bluetooth off/on on my phone to connect. It also says I’ve only completed 25% of my routine if the venom dies during, even if I was only seconds away from completing it. Much to be desired here…

  • Has potential

Update: latest update has listened to customer feedback, thank you!

Original: With a heavy pricetag and having certain things only able to be performed from within the app, the app experience should match the pricetag of the product, and at the moment it does not. I am an app developer and with some very simple and obvious bug fixes you would probably raise most people's 1/2 stars to a 3/4 alone. I've honestly debated returning the product due to the app experience but hey big companies understand monopolies and where to cut costs and they decided the app was it. Poor user experience. Let an exec use the app for twenty minutes trying all different user stories and you'll probably get the budget pretty quickly, if there's any care for user's experience.

  • Very good

Very good app. Way better than the Therabody app. I love the videos and explanations. It’s really good to be able to see what to do rather than just be explained without any demonstration.
  • App is buggy and needs work

The Hypervolt Go works great and the instructors are very good….but this app needs some real fixes. Here are my recommendations for using either iPhone and iPad.
    1. It would be great to scroll back while watching an exercise in order to do the routine on both sides, left or right.
    2. When the exercise video starts I can’t see the instructor demonstrate the routine completely. I have to keep fidgeting touching the screen options for a few minutes to get rid of a mostly whited out screen with a timer on it overlaying the instructions.
    3. When the exercise video ends it would be great to have a restart button in order to do both sides of body.
    4. When the exercise video ends it would be great to have a back button to see all the other exercises without closing the app and reopening the app.

  • Missing basic functions

Besides being way too intrusive and invasive by shoving down way too many routine suggestions (ever hear of the saying “paralysis by analysis”?), it’s missing one easy and must for every routine/body part: list the device and which headpiece should be used. Why aren’t simple icons/photos used before the user starts the routine??? Instead the user has to try to make out what the narrator is saying and seeing what the demonstration model is using AFTER the routine has already begun. How does that make any sense??? Yes it might be minor, but it’s annoying enough that I don’t even want to bother with the app.

Oh and what would you have your demonstration models wear black colored clothes when the device is black??? It makes it impossible to see the device. So many basic small items were completely overlooked.

  • App can be better

I love that the app suggests routines based on my Apple Health, but it doesn’t work if you don’t have that device. I’ve never been suggested a routine based on my workouts for a device I actually own. The app should automatically filter out routines based on the device you have loaded to your account. Then there is the connection issues. I’ve found routines for my device and more than once I’ve started and the app loses connection.

  • Needs improvement

I really like my Hypervolt device, and overall the App is a great idea but it could be improved in two areas to provide a better user experience. First, when looking for routines the filter option is a bit cumbersome for Hypervolt devices. If you select a different Hyperice device it will filter routines according to that device (eg, Hypervolt Go), so for now it’s a bit hit and miss finding routines by having to scroll through All to select a right one that’s compatible with the Hypervolt. Second, the recommendations are a bit redundant. For instance if it notices I went for a run earlier that day, it will recommend various routines based on devices I don’t actually have. So again, a bit useless. If the filter and recommendations can be more tailored to the device(s) that a user may have linked to the app, then I believe the app will become a much better user experience all round.

  • Can’t filter by device

I try and filter routines by the device I have but then none of the routines end up being my device. So clunky and useless
