  • A Godsend!

This app makes it so much easier to grocery shop and avoid problem foods! It’s surprising to me that something I thought would be low FODMAP turns out to be a red flag. By the same token, I find a lot more foods compatible with my dietary needs than I thought! This app is such a godsend to me. I shared it with my husband so he can use it when grocery shopping for me. Thank you so much!

  • Glad I didn’t purchase premium

I scanned a few items to try it out before purchasing. One scan brought up an incorrect item. Several of the others gave useless results like “may be low, medium, or high Fodmap”. How is that supposed to help me??

All of the swaps or substitutions were for completely irrelevant items that weren’t even in the same category of food. This app was a waste of time for finding low Fodmap foods. Cannot recommend it.

  • Sooo Helpful

I started on the FODMAP diet due to many digestive problems. Honestly, I don’t know how anyone can be successful without this app. I open the scan function as soon as I get in a store and by scanning products I can be sure of compliance!! Rarely do I come across some product that is not listed. Now that I am reintroducing foods the ability to view which FODMAP component is in a food is invaluable!!

  • Very helpful app when buying food for specialized diets

Spoonful is very helpful if you are on a diet like low Fodmap or shop for someone who is. The app lets you scan foods barcodes to check the ingredients and make sure they all fit within your diet. If there is an ingredient your diet doesn’t all then the app will alert you. This is great since some foods have a bunch of ingredients.

  • Useful app, could use a lot of improvement.

Please make this app work any direction a tablet is facing, particularly in landscape mode; the app is difficult to use on a tablet that has a case that is designed for use in landscape. This app is super useful for IBS sufferers, and I don’t mind paying for it, even though the monthly/yearly payments seem gouging, but at least fix your database, search function, and make the design responsive to landscape and portrait mode. I’ve only used it a few days and noticed some items have the wrong photo, or wrong title, or missing information like the brand name in the title for searching (even though the photo shows the brand name). It would also be nice if the app could remember my search settings (ie, for all products, or compliant, etc) since I’m logged in.

  • Game Changer for Shopping

I am so grateful to have found this app. Shopping on low FODMAP diet can be intimidating and time-consuming. Spoonful saves me both time and money. In the past, I had to throw out food that I cannot eat and spend way too much time in the store reading labels and checking ingredients. Navigating this new landscape can be confusing and I feel that Spoonful is one of my most useful tools in figuring out how to eat, feel better and live a freer, fuller life.

  • Best app for FODMAP diet

Spoonful is immensely helpful when I’m in the grocery store and needing to quickly know what FODMAPs are present in processed foods. There’s even info from licensed nutritionists for a lot of items. If you find a product is missing, you can suggest it and they’ll add it to the database.

This won’t tell you what particular foods like apples or Swiss cheese have; the Monash FODMAP app does that. But Spoonful will tell you what is present in say Mott’s applesauce. Spoonful and Monash apps go together very well.

The one thing that would put Spoonful over the top is to add restaurant menus so I can know what is safe to order. I’d also appreciate a filter for lactose-free. There is a milk-free filter, but lactose is a much more helpful category for me.

  • No return info

In the 4 months I’ve paid for this subscription I have never ever EVER had anyone get back to me via email with details of things I’ve submitted !! I’ve spoken back and forth with the support account several times about this to no avail & as nice as he was each time (it was always the same fella), I have as of 5 minutes ago canceled my subscription and frankly, I want my money back & don’t think it’s unreasonable to say so. I doubt they’d do that but I sincerely feel scammed and don’t understand how I am getting correspondence from him but no one ever emails me back about my product info scan submissions & it can’t be an issue of mistyping email address because you have to retype where you’d like them to contact you each time!! This 2 day window must be a 2 year window because I do not hear back from the nutritionist ever and it’s very frustrating! I’m a vegetarian with ibs, I thought this app would be a godsave but all it’s done is upset me.

  • Confident shopping

There is nothing more gratifying than being able to decide on a purchase “in the moment” all because of this APP. It has saved me hundreds of dollars because I no longer make purchases with the idea that I can always research later…often times to my disappointment. This APP involves a simple scan of the barcode followed by an immediate answer. I love it!

  • Very Useful Apo

I started a low-FODMAP diet about 6 weeks ago and Spoonful has been a lifesaver when I’m shopping for food, since the FODMAP universe can be a bit overwhelming. I use the scan feature all the time to check whether an item is ok for me. And if an item that I’m scanning doesn’t come up in the Spoonful database, you can easily submit it for them to analyze it and add it to their database, and they are really fast about doing this! Their support team is great—very responsive and helpful. My one gripe with this app is that for many items which have ingredients that are either low or high FODMAP depending on the serving size, the reviewing nutritionist often refers you to the Monash app for details on portion sizes. I wish they would just give the details right there rather than send me to another app. Thanks, Spoonful, you’re doing great work!
